Note to Women From The DIA
This has been making the rounds. Cracked me up.

Fashion Advice at the DIA: ‘Makeup Makes You More Attractive’
A week after women were cleared to serve in combat, Defense Intelligence Agency employees got a different message. “Makeup makes you more attractive.” “Don’t be a plain Jane.” “A sweater with a skirt is better than a sweater with slacks.” “No flats.” “Paint your nails.” “Don’t be afraid of color.” And, “brunettes have more leeway with vibrant colors than blondes or redheads.”
The linked article DOES offer an oops from the DIA brass, but…
I’m wondering if I should start following these guidelines? Jonn, TSO?
Category: "Teh Stoopid", Geezer Alert!
They need to make suggestions for the Lesbian/Gay Transgender community too, since they are being so fucking helpful and all encompassing.
Sounds like reasonable advice to me.
If you start wearing bright colors, flat stylish womens shoes and painting your nails any color Zero, I think it may be frowned upon. Wait, are you working undercover? lol.
NURSE GOODBODY HAS MADE A COMEBACK!!
(Go look it up, pups.)
And these are the same clowns who claim not to objectify women???
@4 – I’m just old enough to remember Petticoat Junction, but wasn’t old enough at the time to appreciate her looks….
I was thinking today about how the standards for females in the military are different than males and jewelry/makeup came up. It’s ok for PFC Suzy to wear earnings, makeup, and do her hair on duty but low and behold a male marine with anything trying to style the little bit of hair he’s allowed it’s game over.
YAY EQUALITY!
Working 4th BTN chowhall on PI during team week and smelling female DI’s super perfumed up was heavenly I have to admit.
@ #7: Some of us actually faught against the earring deal. It looks ridiculous with a uniform. And there can be a safety issue. You’d think that the brass who came up with this idea would understand the concept of “uniform?”
I remember a two week FTX that ended with us filing onto a Chinook past a sweet smelling crew chief.
That was a female crew chief
@ 7 FatCircles0311. Plt 2083 scored high average at Edison Range and we got Rgt duty when we got back to MCRD. My squad, I was Sqd Ldr, got “runner” duty. I sat at a desk and handed envelopes to my guys to take wherever. I got to sniff perfumed “BAMs” all day long!
Yat Yas 1833 #11: You mentioned “BAMs” there are some young people here so YOU get to explain.
(Psst, Zero, there was very little else in that post that I undcerstood! We did have runners assigned to CQ sometimes though.)
Yup and those “BAMs” could kick most of our asses.
@ 12 Zero, sorry Bro. To all you “FNGs”, a “BAM” is an Old Corps term for Women Marines. It meant “Big Assed Marines! At the time it was meant with respect and affection. Back in the ’70s, and before, the women who earned the ‘title’ EARNED the title. When I’ve said there are two BAMs I’ve known who could hack infantry, they were Old Corps and they could hack.
Hmmmm, a more polite interpretation was/is “Broad Axle Marine”.
@ 13 OWB, as I’m sure you’ve heard, EVERY Marine is a rifleman first. During recruit training, the platoon who scores the highest overall average at the rifle range gets Regimental Duty while everyone else gets Mess Duty. Regimental Duty means we, recruits, worked the same hours as the office pogues, 0800-1700, so our Duty Drill Instructor didn’t have to get up at 0400! That put him in a good mood which was good for us, no one got slugged! I was Squad Leader for 1st Squad and we were assigned as “runners” for Rgt Admin. I sat at a desk and whenever anyone needed anything carried to someone, they handed me the envelope and I sent one of my runners on his way. During the ‘in-between’ times I got to smell the perfume wearing Women Marines (BAMs) walk by and drool. Cheap thrill? Hell yes but after 6 weeks at MCRD it was a great thrill!?
Understood, Yat. My equivalent “thrill” came one night in Basic when I was called to CQ for a personal telephone call. We were not allowed to receive personal calls during Basic! So there I stood at attention (just because it seemed like the thing to do) with the phone in hand. It was a TechSgt with the same last name calling – just because he figured he might get by with it! I did manage to make it all the way back to the barracks before breaking up laughing. I had already told the poor airman who answered the phone that I would not share the story if she wouldn’t. Figured that she might actually get in more trouble than I would for taking the call!
Guess that really wasn’t quite the same, but as close as I could do, Yat!
Yat Yas 1833: seems to me I remember hearing about a certain BAMbi Lynn Finney. (Google it, guys – when the spousal unit isn’t around. And probably not from work, either.)
Hee Haw!
Run, Bambi, run!
There was this cute little redhead BAM (0161) in the post office at 29 Palms back in the mid eighties. I’m still married to her.
I don’t know what these girls are doing to their bodies or eating these days, but some of the ones I’ve caught myself short and looked for a minute. Damn! They didn’t make them like the are back in my earlier days (late 85 up through September 2912.)
@23
Top, 2912? Thats one hell of a HYT in the Corps…maybe the Delorean does work. ;>)
The most bland, lifeless and sterile of all our agencies. No spirit, no passion in its ranks, just a bunch of humorless dick heads and chicks with FUPA’s.
(That’s “2012”, with broken time…)
