Texas woman shoots armed man who followed her, tried to forcefully enter her home: police
The woman, who was not identified, shot 35-year-old Octavio Flores Mondragon in the face and chest as he was entering her home

By Elizabeth Pritchett Fox News
A Texas woman shot an armed man who was attempting to “force his way” into her home on Friday, according to local authorities.

The DeSoto Police Department said officers were dispatched to “an active disturbance” in the 400 block of Raintree Circle at around 7:54 p.m. on Friday after a female caller told dispatch an unknown man was in her backyard with a pistol.

During the 911 call, police said the dispatch officer could hear screaming and yelling as the man “attempted to force his way inside the home through the rear garage door.”

At the same time, neighbors on the street called 911 to report gunshots in the area.

Police responded to the woman’s house within three minutes of her call and found her in front of her home, where she told them she thought she shot the man “somewhere at the back of the house.”

Once inside the home, police found the man – identified as 35-year-old Octavio Flores Mondragon – on the ground in the garage with a pistol lying next to him. He had been shot twice, once in the chest and once in the face.

He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The woman told officers she noticed a dark truck following her home after she left a nearby Taco Bell, according to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth. The truck also followed her into her neighborhood and pulled into the rear driveway behind her car.

The woman told police the truck continued following her into her driveway in the back alley.

The woman ran inside, called 911 and armed herself with a pistol. When Mondragon attempted to enter her home, she shot at him multiple times, striking him twice.

Well done, Ma’am! Mr. Mondragon chose poorly and is lucky to be alive to face charges.

Jacksonville police shoot teen who a mom confronted trying to meet her underage daughter

Scott Butler, Jacksonville Florida Times-Union
In the third Jacksonville police shooting in the last month, an officer wounded an 18-year-old who the Sheriff’s Office said brandished a pistol after a mother confronted him about trying to meet up with her 13-year-old daughter.

Chief Alan Parker said it began with a mother being alerted Sunday night that the 18-year-old had been texting her daughter. So she got on the phone, with him believing she was the daughter, and arranged to meet with him at 7 a.m. at the Popeyes at 649 S. McDuff Ave. to confront him.

She showed up with her daughter and 11-year-old son, but he instead “confronts them with a pistol in his waistband, lifts it and says, ‘When you hear the shots tonight, you’ll know what’s up,'” Parker said.

She took her children inside the Popeyes to call the police, and he went around the back of the restaurant. When an officer pulled up in the back, the 18-year-old was still there even though he had plenty of time to leave, Parker said.

The officer ordered him to turn around and show his hands, but he “slowly turns his back to the officer and he takes off running around the back of the business,” the chief said. “So the officer takes off in a foot pursuit. As he hits the corner, he sees the suspect pull the pistol from his waistband. He yells for him, ‘Drop, stop, gun, gun, gun,’ engages suspect; he [the officer] shoots multiple times. The suspect continues around the neighboring business, then drops the gun. He continues running. The officer tracks him and loses sight of him.”

The other officers had set up a perimeter and brought in a K-9 and they soon found him in a drainage culvert. They called him out without further incident and began medical aid. He was shot in the torso, hand and possibly a leg but was in stable condition, Parker said.

He said it didn’t appear that he had exchanged gunfire with the officer. Detectives also recovered the gun.

Looks like a Hi Point in the Florida ruckus.
Nothing wrong with it as a North Wall hand cannon, it’s heavy enough, just missing the carriage and wheels. Wonder if Mr Child Molester had enough money for ammunition after splurging for the boat anchor 😂😂, maybe that’s why he didn’t shoot back at the po-po.
I’m amazed that Mr Molester could run fast enough to outrun the officer while carrying that dead weight.

Another example of “when seconds count, the police are just (three) minutes away.”
Fortunately things turned out well for Mama Bear and cubs, not so well for Mr Molester.

I’ve got a couple… have yet to shoot them, though their weight would make them good projectiles themselves. Years ago, I bought an Iberia .40 S&W from a coworker. The thing was a complete piece of donkey doo, but it was only $40; I ended up giving it to a friend just to get rid of it. Naturally, I impulse bought another earlier this year, then bought a .45 ACP Hi-Point. For those not in the know, Hi-Point is officially Strassel’s machine, Inc., and has several manufacturing facilities in Ohio.

When I bought the .40, I also bought a Lorcin .380. Pot metal guns have feelings too. Honestly, though, they serve their purpose as inexpensive pistols that those on a fixed income might be able to afford. I’m sure some honest people have defended themselves with a Hi-Point. Nowadays, though, a Taurus or Ruger doesn’t cost that much more and is a lot more ergonomic and user-friendly.

Granted, I bought my HiPoint many years ago due to budget (and nothing else came close at the time).
I have taken it to the range and shot it, works great first time, every time. Easy to clean, (IIRC) just lock back the slide and swab the barrel and mag well. Further disassembly would involve removing roll pins, not worth the effort, and not necessary.
Weight makes it a great home defense gun, but NOT an EDC carry gun (owww my aching hip!)
Take yours to the range sometime, put a few rounds through them, they’ll appreciate the love and attention.

After the shooting, I can see Mr Mondragon singing an Octavio higher than normal.
“….in critical condition.”
Not critical enough . He’s still wasting oxygen.

Nice pig sticker (two or four legged).
That is, if ya like ta get up close and personal.

Never was a fan of those brass knuckles-knife combos.

Mamma-bear should have arranged for an LEO to be present – or to meet somewhere secluded where the shots could not be heard…

Bet the Texas girl starts packing everyday everwhere… I sure hope so.
