This Week’s Friday Feel-Good

| January 11, 2013

This one’s a triple-goodie: a criminal takes a hit, a dog is saved, and a gun-owner uses his gun to protect his abode.  It actually happened a bit over a week ago, but I missed writing an article about it then.

Seems a naked guy climbed up onto the front porch of a house at about 5AM in the “Little Haiti” section of the greater Miami area.  The intruder then tried to choke one of the homeowner’s dogs – a Rottweiler.  When the homeowner came to the scene to see what was going on, the intruder – who was totally naked at the time – then attacked the homeowner and began choking and biting him.

Unfortunately for the naked guy, the homeowner was packing heat.  He fired twice, hitting the suspect in the foot once.  This did not deter the intruder, who continued to assault the homeowner.  The homeowner attempted to fire a third time, but his gun jammed.

The homeowner was finally able to pin down his naked attacker and hold him while members of his family called police.  He continued to restrain the guy until police arrived.

When the police arrived, the naked guy tried to bite them too.

No, I’m not making this stuff up – I’m completely serious.  And yes, other accounts of the incident do indeed indicate that police believe the intruder may have been “under the influence of drugs”.

Drugs involved.  Gee – ya think?

The naked guy – identified as Jeffery Delice, 20 – is expected to recover fully.  So are the homeowner and the dog.

However, Delice has a few little legal problems at present.  He’s currently charged with  assault, resisting arrest with violence, lewd and lascivious behavior, and animal cruelty.  Delice also has prior arrests – but no convictions – for possession of marijuana, armed robbery, and assault.

I guess this is just another case of “overreaction” by one of those gun nuts and their scary, evil guns.

Bath salts is a helluva drug……

BK

Bath salts again, maybe?

I may go get a gun. There’s always new computer hardware that comes between me and a firearm purchase.

Calgon is clearly taking away regular drug users and replacing them with flesh-craving zombies. I don’t get worried about the hippie kids who like to shit in between my garage and my shed, but this stuff is worrisome.

I’m wondering if the guys Rottweiler was one of those “lap dog” varieties that are cuddly and thinks every person is their friend. Only reason I can see that explains why Mr. Delice was not mauled.

Sounds like “Bath Salts” to me, but I live in the Bath Salt Capital of the US.

Where does one buy bath salts? Is that in the bath section or beyond section of Bed, Bath and Beyond?

From what I understand, the bath salts that get you high and totally out of your mind is a specific variety of bath salts with a specific chemical compound that you cannot just buy anywhere. In fact most state legislators are banning those varieties and they are getting harder to get. The internet is probably the easiest place. From my time as a UPL, I was told that bath salts are difficult to trace in a urine test because the manufacturers keep changing the chemical compounds, and unless the lab knows the specific compounds they are looking for they don’t find it. But if anyone has any more information on that please share.

With the way laws are today, I’m guessing the “animal cruelty” conviction will net him more time in jail than any of the other charges…

@5 Bath Salts are often purchased at “alternative” smoke shops – the places that sell bongs, hookahs, psychedelic posters, etc. They usually sell the drugs under the guise of non-drug related products like bath salts or glass cleaner. The tough part with making these types of drugs illegal is that the chemical composition of them often changes, making them completely different drugs that haven’t been evaluated and banned.
Here’s a good article on what we’re doing up here in NY to fight the problem:
