Feel good Sunday stories for the “national discussion”

| January 6, 2013

Brandon at Liberty and Such finds twelve recent stories of folks who defended themselves and their families with guns. As he says, the media isn’t covering these stories of the good guns do, so it’s up to us to spread them around, you know, in the interests of this “national discussion” we’re supposed to be having.

Speaking of the “national discussion”, the Washington Post reports on the discussion below this picture;

National Discussion

I don’t see anyone at that table representing me in this discussion we’re supposed to be having. The Post writes;

To sell such changes, the White House is developing strategies to work around the National Rifle Association that one source said could include rallying support from Wal-Mart and other gun retailers for measures that would benefit their businesses. White House aides have also been in regular contact with advisers to New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (I), an outspoken gun-control advocate who could emerge as a powerful surrogate for the Obama administration’s agenda.

“Work around the NRA”? Really? Then how is it a discussion? And regularly talking to Nanny Bloomberg? Is he going to recommend that gun owners be forced to breast feed? And Wal-Mart is so easily influenced in this “discussion”, like they’ve always been because their business doesn’t depend completely on firearms sales. Yeah, I have a lot of confidence in this discussion.

I also see seated at the table former police chief of DC Charles Ramsey who presided over one of the highest murder rates in that city in it’s gunless history. His excuse was that too many criminals were serving their sentences in jail and then going back to their lives of crime afterward. His solution was making gun laws tighter in the surrounding counties of Maryland and Virginia.

So, I guess because the administration is looking for ways to “work around” the NRA, the millions of gun owners that organization represents are being left out of the conversation. So how is that a conversation? It sounds to me like we’re being dictated to instead.

Bam Bam

Discussions always go so much smoother when those pesky dissenters on the other side aren’t involved. I believe the scientific term is “preaching to the choir”.

There’s a term for the government style that regulates businesses for political advancement. Promoting private enterprise only when it benefits the state and the subsequent control of the populous.

Old Trooper

We knew it wasn’t a “conversation” the second those words fell out of their mouths. I have heard that phrase being mumbled by several anti-gun leftists since the CT shooting, yet when I ask what they want to talk about, they start lecturing instead of conversing. They aren’t interested in a conversation, just telling us what they want done.

So long as they take their time, they can talk all they want. We need the time to buy more guns and ammo. Christmas puts a crimp in most of our spending for a month or two. Talk away!

This country has gone full retard. Such a stupid knee jerk reaction to a tragedy. Unfortunately the left, like they do when ever they feel they are right, have their mind made up and will twist any information into backing their point of view. I will fight for my rights tooth and nail but I already see the writing on the wall. I am a veteran, a christian and a law abiding gun owning citizen, three strikes against me as far as the left is concerned. I am now demonized for defending my country, my religion and my rights. “…shall not be infringed” is now a punchline. What a joke this country is becoming if this continues to be allowed to go on like this.

Is that Eric Holder I see?

Hmmmm….hypocrite much, Eric?

Roger in Republic

Where do I enlist for the Revolution? If these stupid libtards try this crap there will be a revolution and the losers will suffer the firing squad. Death for for all traitors to the constitution. As Americans we have an absolute right to protect ourselves from criminals, be they individuals or the government itself.

B Woodman

Roger,
You won’t have to enlist in the Revolution, it will come to and find you. Just wait (and it won’t be that long of a wait, at that).

OFF TOPIC

If, like me, you don’t care who wins the Skins/Seahawks game, root for Seattle. Sure they’re both lefty towns and the faux fans sip wine and eat cheese during the games, but the Skins are considered the DC political establishment’s team. What’s more, the Skins actually play in the Socialist Republic of Maryland and draw their fan support from the heavily left suburbs of Montgomery and Prince Georges counties. So, here’s to a lefty disappointment. Go Seahawks!

Charles

Which reminds me, did Gil Kerlikowske ever find his Seattle PD weapon that was stolen from his personal vehicle? In case you all don’t know Gil is the Drug czar and his city owned weapon has been missing now for over a decade or at least the local media isn’t reporting on if the SPD has recovered it.

@ #9- Off topic, roughly .1% of those Seachicken fans consume wine & cheese..Usually those sitting in the luxury seats and in the suites. The rest are dyed in the wool beer n hotdog fans, LOL!

Back on track: YahooNews! is picking up the mantle for gun control again:

Joe Manchin will vote with Reid, who will support Holder and Bloomberg.

Good time to stock up on bows, arrows, crossbows and bolts.

Most of those corporations already have a pass on paying taxes, due to the Fiscal-BS-Cliff law. So what interests a corporation like Walmart?

Exemption from Obamacare. Almost every corporation supporting Obama has one, but not gunsellers.

Joe Williams

If they get an AWB passed, guess what kinfolks. More people out of work. The libtards do not care about important little details like that. The Left will just juggle the numbers to cover this fact.

Green Thumb

This administration sucks.

TacticalTrunkMonkey

Ok, I just read the article at Drudgereport…

it says it is creating a database that will allow the ATF to track the movement of guns across the nation…

HELL, the ATF couldn’t even track their own guns going across a border…much less all of ours.

WHO THE HELL THOUGHT THIS WAS A GREAT IDEA?! I still want Eric Holder charged and put on trial for his crimes!

Old Trooper

@15: You forgot to add that the government can’t balance a checkbook or keep track of 20 million illegal immigrants, but the dumbasses think they can track 290 million guns and billions of rounds of ammunition.

Stand to ....

So how is that a conversation? It sounds to me like we’re being dictated to instead.

…And what do we do to dictators children?

Just Plain Jason

Hey guys nothing to worry about they are just talking about “sensible” gun control laws…how bad could that be…oh fuck.

Holder: “well I could sell some guns to Mexican cartels.”

Biden: “you already fucked that up.”

Naporenosquatch: “I’m still trying to cover that shit up.”

Nannyberg: “Guns are scary…”

Guy in uniform: “I gotta get this back to the costume shop by 5 or I have to pay for another day.”

Fred

Hi John, You’re right about the media not covering instances of self-defense with firearms. I’m a newshound and I almost never see any stories about this subject. It’s too bad that they don’t tell the whole story. Thanks for the link to Liberty and Such. That was some good reading. Also, I’ll bet you the Administration is not going to be able to successfully “work around” the NRA.
