Abandoned!

Fox News is reporting that they’ve talked to people who are familiar with the radio traffic that was related to the attack on the Benghazi consulate. Apparently, the two former SEALs who were killed that day were repeatedly denied permission to aid the folks who were involved in the conflagration at the consulate and finally, they disregarded their superiors and went anyway.

At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied. There were no communications problems at the annex, according those present at the compound. The team was in constant radio contact with their headquarters. In fact, at least one member of the team was on the roof of the annex manning a heavy machine gun when mortars were fired at the CIA compound. The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Spectre gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights. The fighting at the CIA annex went on for more than four hours — enough time for any planes based in Sigonella Air base, just 480 miles away, to arrive. Fox News has also learned that two separate Tier One Special operations forces were told to wait, among them Delta Force operators.

As COB6 pointed out in an email, if there was a guy “painting” targets with a laser designator, that means that there was air support on station near the consulate, most likely an AC130 gunship. So all of the elements were on the scene to rescue the four Americans and disrupted the obviously planned attack, but they were denied the support they needed to save their lives.

According to sources on the ground during the attack, the special operator on the roof of the CIA annex had visual contact and a laser pointing at the Libyan mortar team that was targeting the CIA annex. The operators were calling in coordinates of where the Libyan forces were firing from.

Yeah, they’re not going to waste their time painting a target if there’s nothing to shoot with.

JP sends a link to ABCNEWS in which Leon Panetta warns everyone against “Monday morning quarterbacking”;

Panetta said that they didn’t have enough “real-time information” to send military forces to respond.

“(The) basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on; without having some real-time information about what’s taking place,” Panetta said, according to The Associated Press. “And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground in that area, Gen. Ham, Gen. Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation.”

I don’t how much more “real time” information they needed since they were in radio contact with people who were on the ground with eyes and GLDs on the targets.

The president got a “3AM phone call” and then went to Las Vegas costing the lives of four Americans by avoiding making the proper call in exchange for some campaign contributions. If Watergate cost a President his job, this cover up should certainly cost this one his job next week.

There’s much more at the excellent article at the Fox News link written by Jennifer Griffin and you should read the whole thing.

Ex-PH2: I hear ya! They just can’t seem to figure out what story to go with. Every time some info comes out it’s a different line of trash.

JPJ: Between this, what’s on Blackfive, and other sources I’m gonna have to seriously knock them back to avoid an aneurism.

@39: No, he didn’t name the dog after himself, you fucking liar (or dumbass). He named it after his daughters’ cousins’ pet cat and Bo Diddley. Your hatred is so obvious, so just admit it.

Jim S

@52 Wow, someone drank their cool-aid today!

NHSparky

You confuse contempt with hatred, anon.

And if future events show that this administration was in fact as criminally negligent as it appears at the present time, calling the soon-to-be-ex-president “Bo” will be the least of your butthurt worries.

Never lie to the voters. Sooner or later, they ALWAYS discover the truth. Even if the MSM is flying high cover for Obumbles.

Medal of Honor can be given to former military, they don’t have to have been in uniform at the time.

Just Plain Jason

Yes I do hate him he is a fucktard, I don’t think anyone here has a problem admitting that they hate him.

It’s late, but I’m putting the word out. My “theory” is, president “Choom INTERCEPTION” was unavailable. Mr. Gutsy Call was not able to make the call because he was NOT THERE. They feared making the decision to bomb muslims in the middle of a civil war because of the election and the muslim backlash and Choom Boy was not ‘able’ to make a decision.

It will be told…….in 5 years or so.

Ex-PH2

@52, spend some time with your therapist.

Hatred is a strong emotion.

There is a vast distance between hatred and simple dislike. I simply dislike the incumbent, which I have a right to do. He’s either a snake or dumber than barnacles on a donkey’s butt.

You, on the other hand, are a venomous and weasely little snipe.

You need to spend some serious time with your therapist.

Ex-PH2

@52 — And while I’m on it, his daughters’ cousins are his nieces and/or nephews. Try to learn something about familial and genetic relationships while you’re spending time with your therapist, you ignoramus.

Anonymous

@59: Again, you are a dumbass. If the President or First Lady have cousins who have children the same age as Sasha and Malia, then it is acceptable to refer to those children as the daughters’ cousins.

Anonymous

In other words, Ex-PH2, the girls’ cousins aren’t his nieces or nephews since the parents aren’t his or Michelle’s siblings. You are so fucking stupid, you were meant to vote Republidumb.

The Dead Man

#61 You know we generally refer to those sort of things as second cousins or third cousins or third cousins twice removed or…

You know if you’re going to call someone an idiot, at least make sure you’re not making mistakes yourself in the same breath yeah?

Take a load off, most everyone here is good people.

Ex-PH2: your comment 24 above ended with the phrase “get to the polls on Nov 6 and make sure that you don’t vote for Bo.” (emphasis added)

The part in italics includes three possibilities, all of which qualify as not voting for Obama. The first is to cast a vote for Romney. The second is to cast a vote for another candidate that is neither Romney nor Obama – either a third-party candidate or a write-in (this is commonly referred to as a “protest vote” when done because one doesn’t like either major party candidate). The third is to leave the part of the ballot where one votes for President blank. You did not specify which of these options you were endorsing.

My point was that the latter two are mathematically equivalent to voting for Obama. Each reduces the number of other people’s votes Obama needs to win by one – just like voting for Obama does. And either Romney or Obama will be the next POTUS.

Protest votes and failing to vote are not choices without consequence. Most people simply don’t realize the actual net effect in a 2-party system. Protest votes for Perot probably swung the balance in 1992; the same is true for protest votes for Teddy Roosevelt in 1912. (The effect of Anderson in 1980 and Wallace in 1968 is harder to estimate, but may well have swung those races as well.) In each case the result was (likely/possibly) to swing the election to the candidates most of the protest voters would least likely have seen elected.

Heinlein said it best: “If you are part of a society that votes, then do so. There may be no candidates and no measures you want to vote for … but there are certain to be ones you want to vote against. In case of doubt, vote against. By this rule you will rarely go wrong.”

Sorry I missed this show last night. These developments regarding (for the benefit of Anonymous) the ASSHOLE in the White House, are impeachable offenses. Malfeasance, nonfeasance, misfeasance–take your pick or mix and match. It is time to call or email your Representatives and turn up the heat. There are inquiries being made but it’s helpful to let your congresscritter know your interest in seeing the entire truth come out on this fiasco, wherever it may lead. I agree that it is not enough that B. Hussein obama, the Bower, the Pretender, the Imam-in-Chief, the incompetent fool be rejected at the polls. Not for this. NOTE TO ACTIVE DUTY: DO NOT CALL THE ASSHOLE IN THE WHITE HOUSE BAD NAMES. UNLIKE ME, YOU COULD FIND YOURSELF IN HOT WATER.

NHSparky

@61-Republidumb

Seriously?? That’s all you have, Kos-kiddie? Surely your mental machete is sharper than that. Again, why are you so seemingly unconcerned about the ever-changing line of bullshit being put forth, well, changing only when discovered the last “explanation” was as big a batch of bullshit than the one before?

Hell, he won’t even answer questions from his fawning sycophants in the MSM anymore, that’s how badly he needs to cover his ass. And nothing like being thrown under the bus by your own CIA director 11 days out from an election.

To recycle the old phrase, “Bo knows.” Yeah, no shit he does. And telling what he knew and when would fuck him and his entire administration over, and they all know it.

2-17 Air Cav

I have this crazy notion that somewhere within the administration or among the pentagonals there is someone who will say, “Enough. I hereby resign because I can no longer serve under this president.” As the pressure rises, more people will be asked to fudge, lie, and draw fuzzy pictures. I’m hopeful that one of them may just say, “No, no more.”

NHSparky

Yeah, but none of them will do it in the next 10 days. After that, however, watching these clowns drop dime on each other is gonna be friggin hilarious.

You get the wing and popcorn. I’ll bring the beer.

If I recall from US history & government classes and I hope correctly Hondo, the Electoral College determines the outcome of our presidential elections. By pushing popular vote, as two of your points appear to be, the Democratic Party would like to establish, the fly over states as they are referred will be outgunned in every election. That in turn would all but nullify those votes due to the extremely large number of liberal cities and voters along coastal regions.

Another factor you should be very aware of is “The Secretary of State Project”. The Democratic Party supports this project (financed by George Soros and his various “Open Society” institutes) in hopes of installing only elected state officials that support their ideological thinking of “Only democrat votes are counted” thereby insuring they are in charge on local, county, state and federal levels.

Old Trooper

I have been away from my computer for a little while and I, also, wanted to calm down, before I posted. Ok, here it goes: I heard a politician talk about what Panetta said when he said “we’re (critics) Monday morning quarterbacking”. The politician then said “okay, using Panetta’s football analogy; did you ignore your scouting reports about the area”? Now, let’s look at this in its entirety: Immediately, even before President Obama walked into the Rose Garden, it was being blamed on a video and we were told it was a spontaneous protest. Then the President claims he called it a terror attack and the movie in the Rose Garden. Then all his people go out at claim the movie line for the next 2 weeks. Then we hear from others it was a pre-planned attack. Then we find out that there were drones watching it unfold in real time. Then the emails for help came out next. Then Panetta claims they weren’t going to send troops into harms way because they didn’t know what the situation was. Now we find out there was FLASH traffic requesting assistance and that the assistance was denied 3 times. Okay; everyone from this administration was lying their asses off, including the President, from the very beginning. It’s obvious and undeniable. They had real time intel from the beginning and knew what was going on. Biden claimed in the VP debate that “we didn’t know, we weren’t told”, which, of course, was a bald faced lie. Now, some people claim that this administration is incompetent, others say corrupt; I say both. This latest piece of the puzzle shows criminal negligence. They aren’t very good at covering this up and can’t keep their story straight, so they are incompetent. They lied to the American people and still continue to do so, which makes them corrupt. They aren’t interested in treating the families of the fallen with respect and ignore the gravity of the moment at Andrews with the families by their actions towards them, including the President and VP acting like asses. In closing;… Read more »

Hondo

Uh, streetsweeper . . . not at all.

As you observe, US elections for President are actually elections to determine Electoral College voters.

Electoral College electors are bound by law in roughly half the states to vote as their state legislatures direct. (The SCOTUS has upheld such state laws as well.) They don’t always; and faithless electoral college voters are almost never prosecuted. Faithless electors have also never affected the outcome of an election. Even the conspiracy of 23 Virginia faithless electors in 1836 who refused en masse to vote for their pledged VP candidate (Johnson) did not materially affect the outcome of the election, as the Senate ultimately selected Johnson anyway.

In most states, electoral votes are allocated on a “winner take all” basis. Only Maine and Nebraska allocate electoral votes based on district totals, with Senatorial districts being statewide. Even there, you have effectively a 2-candidate race in most Federal elections. Ergo, my discussion above is equally applicable to all 2-party elections. That includes Presidential elections for the purpose of choosing Electoral College voters.

The bottom line: the popular vote for POTUS matters – not not nationally, but within a state or congressional district. At that level, the popular vote for POTUS determines the Electoral College voters who will vote for POTUS – and thus who gets those electoral votes.

If you interpreted my comment above as advocating direct popular vote for the office of President, you missed my point entirely. In fact, I would advocate against doing that – because it would indeed allow a few large states to effectively select the POTUS at the expense of the rest of the country. The POTUS and VP are the only two national elective offices; they should have some degree of nationwide support vice the support of only a few large states.

2-17 Air Cav

My words are probably more appropriate for the Woods thread but I don’t want to sully that message with my anger. obama KNEW what was happening. His adviors knew what was happening. Radio transmissions of help requests establish the record. Help was needed and it was denied once, twice, three times. Why? My take is that a deliberate decision was made to let the situation (i.e., the attack) continue uninterrrupted EVEN THOUGH the briefing obama no doubt received included the liklihood that the men at the Benghazi Alamo would not survive. IF the cavalry had been dispatched, the situation would, it was likely feared, escalate into a wider conflict that would throw the then-pending b. Hussein obama/Romney FOREIGN RELATIONS DEBATE into a shambles for obama. So, Romney was attacked when he suggested something was rotten in Denmark regarding obama’s Benghazi response and the FIX was in to get Clinton, Rice, Dempsey and all the lackies to sing the same song. I tell you this was an outright conspiracy of disinformation and lies from the very start and that the truth will come.

@ 72- Copy that.
@ 73- Air Cav, I too had to take a bit to calm down. I’m (maybe too much here) trying to comprehend someone *ignoring* so to speak, a FLASH msg…

As I said before I firmly believe a political aide (Jarrett, Plouffle, or Axelrod) made this call and the V. P., SecDef, SecState, or anyone else in the chain was afraid to countermand. If true then it can’t be admitted to under almost any circumstance. Beyond the legal issues it would be political death to all invovled. The behaviour of Clinton, Panetta, Biden, the UN ambassador, and possible Patreaus all seem to confirm this. These people would sell their souls for the political chance and that (thru Benghszi) is what has them all.

James

Honorable men die once, cowards lie and die many times.

OWB

If the intention of all this was to cause mass strokes among the aging population of American veterans, this is certainly capable of doing it. I am having more than a little difficulty finding appropriate words to describe it all that are not vulgar and/or not ones I think much less utter with any regularity.

Some of us here witnessed the Watergate hearings, and a few of us even remember the McCarthy hearings. This surpasses my recollection of the events precipitating those hearings.

In the case of Nixon, many of us applauded his resignation for reasons which should be obvious. When persons were jailed for their participation, we again applauded.

There should be mass resignations coming from the executive branch. Since that is not now happening they are proving that they have no concept of what this country means and holds dear.

It is time to man up, executive branch! You have a lot of explaining to do, but those explanations can come after you have all left “public service.” You have proven yourselves incapable of serving public interests or the citizens of this country.

That is about all I can mabage right now in anything approximating a civil tone.

Ex-PH2

Oh, I just love stuff like this.

@52, @60, @61, this is for you. Just for you.

from Celebgalz, a short article about Avery Robinson:

Avery Robinson: Barack Obama nephew Avery Robinson (photo)

Avery Robinson is 16 and a nephew of Barack Obama. Robinson’s parents are Craig Robinson and his stepmother, Kelly Robinson. He has a younger sister, Leslie Robinson, 12.

Avery Robinson is a junior at Crescent Valley High School. Robinson volunteers as a reader to students at Lincoln Elementary School. Robinson plays point guard for Crescent Valley Raiders basketball. Avery Robinson likes movies and chilling out with his pals.

Craig Robinson’s bio:
Craig Malcolm Robinson (born April 21, 1962) is an American college basketball coach and the current head men’s basketball coach at Oregon State University. He was previously the head coach at Brown University. He was a star forward as a player at Princeton University in the early 1980s and a bond trader during the 1990s.

He is the older brother of U.S. First Lady Michelle Robinson Obama, and the brother-in-law of U.S. President Barack Obama.

His sister Michelle had begun dating a law firm colleague, Barack Obama, who played basketball recreationally; she asked her brother to play with him and give her a character assessment, so that she would know whether she could become serious with him.

Robinson has two children from his first marriage, a son Avery (born 1992) and daughter Leslie (born 1996).[14] Robinson remarried in June 2006, to his wife Kelly.[3] They became parents of a son, Austin, in 2010.

So, it looks like Bo has ANOTHER nephew: Austin Robinson.

I win! I win! You lose!! Eeewwww!

Geez, you’re so abominably STOOOOPID!

Ex-PH2

Hondo, as much as I love arguing with you, I realize that I was unclear. I said “NOT vote for Bo”. That, I concur, is unclear, and I meant “vote for the OTHER GUY”.

Most important is to get out and vote.

After repressing the waves of nausea provoked by the original post and the related post at Blackfive, I forwarded it to about a dozen friends who haven’t yet voted, some in my state and others in one of the too close to call swing states. It is the least I could do in remembrance of the Benghazi fallen. Part II of what I can do will occur at Sunday services tomorrow morning.

It is truly sad, sad, sad when the chain of command — and we’ve established above it is the President — stands in either paralytic inactivity or conscious decision to let Americans die.

If there actually was an AC130 on station and they would not let him engage, it would be nice if that Spectre driver ame forward with his side of the story a few days before the election

Ex-PH2

As OWB has observed, there are those of us who remember what happened with Trick Dick Nixon and the Watergate investigation. I had the doubtfull privilege of getting to watch the proceedings on TV, live and in color.

There is so much corruption in the current administration — yeah, you bitch, if you’re reading this, you know I’m talking about you, you hag-faced slothful strumpet — so much corruption it almost makes the fall of the Roman Empire pale by comparison.

NHSparky

Glas–not happening. Too easily construed as politically-driven and the guy might want to have his resume polished up if they do that.

Sorry, OT, I was in a VERY BAD mood last night.

Here’s a link to an Associated Press story on the net this morning. I also posted this story on “THen Who Was It?”

http://news.msn.com/us/witnesses-recount-organized-benghazi-attack

There are still some reporters who know what ‘investigative’ means.

The truth is out there. The barbarians are at the gate.

Old Trooper

@88: Good thing I wasn’t around you then!

We all know the cover up was handled like everything else this administration does; incompetently. However, those that still stand by and defend this administration in the wake of all the evidence coming forward are themselves, corrupt. I remember watching the whole Watergate fiasco unfold live on tv, in the newspapers, and on radio. That was playtime compared to this and yet we still have those in the media trying to run a cover operation for this administration, which, ironically, are the same outlets that wanted Nixon’s head on a pike back then. Nixon didn’t order the break in, but he did try to cover it up. This administration not only knew about it, but were the main actors in leaving these Americans swaying in the breeze and trying to cover up that they left them to die. That rises to a level waaaaay beyond anything Nixon did.

Ex-PH2

OT, I agree.

Evan Williams

Shameful. Unfortunately, the POTUS engaged in a political calculus that reckoned 4 dead Americans less damaging to his campaign than a failed or “less than optimal outcome” in a potential rescue attempt.

And as mentioned above, most likely Cupid Stunt Valerie Jarrett was the decisive one.

2-17 Air Cav

Ex-PH2. Holy goodnight! Yeah. I’m with OT in Cmt 87. I am sorry if if I ever did anything to you or thought I did anything. Really. Sorry. Don’t get me wrong. This has nothing whatsoever to do with para 2 in cmt 85. Nothing. Love that Navy!

Ex-PH2

AirCAv, now you know I care a lot about all of you. I was not addressing any of you. The ‘you bitch, etc.’ was addressed to anyone from You Know Where who may/may not be SPYING on us. And you guys all should know that there are EYEBALLS everywhere. It was not addressed to any of you, my friends. It was addressed to those shaft-ridden ratsbanes elsewhere.

But I will confess that, after all the disturbing reports about the events that occurred in Libya, my venom towards certain persons on the east coast had risen to a new, and previously unheralded, level.

I was, in a word, very very ANGRY.

It would give me great pleasure to face down one of those dissembling, turtle-faced canker-blossoms in a bar. It’s a shame they can’t see which finger I’m holding up.

After all, one should not reserve one’s feelings in something like this, eh?

I did feel the need to resurrect my ability to clearly enunciate a barrage of elite vituperation, should I ever have a chance to use it on certain parties. What could be more effective than naming someone you despise a block, a stone, a less than senseless thing, or a codpiece clutching clodpole in front of an audience?

It is, after all, Halloween and there is a full moon.

Thank you for caring. I feel much better now.
