Oh, so now it’s a “crisis”
Stars & Stripes reports that Command Sgt. Maj. Bill Johnson, who according to his Facebook page is the command sergeant major for V Corps and the senior enlisted leader for the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command took to talking to the troops about the murders committed by our Afghan allies over the last several months;
The so-called guardian angel position at the Kandahar base was the first thing soldiers here wanted Johnson to see on his tour of southern bases, and it became a theme of his trip.
Johnson said that while the shootings have forced international forces to make adjustments, his Afghan counterparts have been equally aggressive in trying to stem the tide, noting that more Afghans have been killed by their comrades than internationals killed in so-called green-on-blue attacks.
“It’s not only dangerous for us, it’s dangerous for the Afghans,” he said.
The first thing I’d do if I was in CSM Johnson’s position is change the stupid “guardian angels” name. I’d change it to “the hair-trigger ninja zombie dark angels of avenging and immediate death” or something scary. Guardian Angels makes me think of those fruits in New York City with raspberry berets. The Afghans need to know we’re serious about this shit. Maybe they should pop off a few rounds every couple of minutes to remind the “allies” that they’re watching. And wear hockey masks.
While insurgent infiltration is suspected in some of these attacks, more are blamed on cultural misunderstandings and arguments, which has shone a spotlight on lacking cultural education available to most troops. Learning the ways of a country as different as Afghanistan is a steep learning curve for American troops, Johnson said, but he’s confident that new training programs are improving cultural understanding.
“It’s a lot to learn for a young soldier coming into the Army, never been out of Hometown, USA,” Johnson said.
Would the good sergeant major like to explain to us what the troops have done to our allies that they deserve a death sentence for it?
“I think we’re starting to lose a little ground back in the U.S., but I think a lot of that comes from bad publicity,” he said.
Is that what scores of needless deaths are…bad publicity? It’s only been a few weeks that CSM Johnson and his commander decided to allow troops in a combat zone to be armed around their “partners”, but bad publicity is to blame. It’s been two weeks since the White House called the cowardly murders “negligible” in the Grand Scheme of Things, but now, today, it’s a crisis. So much for publicity.
It just reinforces that which I already knew. A lot of really good NCOs go to the Sergeant Major Academy and get their brains sucked out. It gets replaced with an inert spongy material.

OK, I’ve had shitloads of “Cultural” training in both the Army and police work. Here’s what our troops need to do:
1.) Wipe ass with bare hand (use left hand only)
2.) beat head on ground 5 times a day to pray to allah- but make sure the troops can’t actually read or write.
3.) have 2 or more wives and 25 children
4.) when insulted, kill whoever insulted you
5.) yell “ala akbar” when taking a shit or about ready to die
6.) don’t shave
Every time I hear the name of that program I wonder if Clarence got his wings.
‘“I think we’re starting to lose a little ground back in the U.S., but I think a lot of that comes from bad publicity,” he said.’
With all due respect, someone needs to get the CSM a new script. Those murders aren’t bad publicity…they’re bumps in the road.
On patrol, one round per Afghan. In a so-called safe zone, any Afghan carrying a weapon is not to be challenged. Shoot on sight. After evening prayer, no Afghan may leave his quarters. If he leaves, shoot on sight. Two Afghan seniors are to be invited to camp each night. At the first sound of gunfire , their subordinates are to be told, the seniors will be shot. That’s for starters.
“While insurgent infiltration is suspected in some of these attacks, more are blamed on cultural misunderstandings and arguments, which has shone a spotlight on lacking cultural education available to most troops. ”
So its our fault. Yep.
How about “Killer Angels”.
Might make the point a little clearer.
No offense to the book of the same title.
Honestly I dont give a damn that its dangerous for the Afghans. They let this trash live amongst them and do this shit so they can pay the piper on that one. As far as it being because we offend them, someone please kindly inform that CSM that we are supposed to be breaking things and killing people not singing camp songs with these assholes. Im offended that this tool thinks that we are the cause for our own demise, can I just shoot him because Im offended?
I don’t think I could have put it as profoundly as those of you above did. (Hysterical, by the way! I was drinking water when I read CI Roller Dude’s comments and almost lost it.)
The CSM should be reminded that the people he’s dealing with are used to doing things the way they did in the 7th century. THAT’s what they understand. It’s not about cultural awareness or sensitivity. Their culture believes in a certain kind of “bravado” (if THAT’s what you want to call it?), so with that in mind, maybe something similar to what General Mattis said, “I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I’ll kill you all”. Maybe they’d get the picture then?
If the CSM wants to see a “crisis,” he should start by looking in a mirror.
Quote: “… the hair-trigger ninja zombie dark angels of avenging and immediate death” Yep, that works for me…and I want to know why we haven’t gone there yet. Looooong overdue, in my always humble opinion. 😉
Someone once said that diplomacy is the art of saying “Nice doggie” to a vicious dog; to allow you enough time to pick up a stick and beat the shit out of it.
F-ck Hearts and Minds. Just give us their hearts….still warm and beating when ripped or blown from their chests. Men, Women, Children, Puppies, Kittens, Fuzzy Bunnies.

This is very simple. They don’t want our military in their country! Just like we don’t want others in our country.
#13–We wouldn’t BE in their country if they hadn’t provided tacit support to an enemy that ATTACKED our country.
THAT’S what people forget.
Like the German a few decades ago who was bitching about the Americans in his country. He shut up when I reminded him why we were there in the first place.
I believe it was the great philosopher Will Smith, who told a large insect: “Don’t START nothin’, won’t BE nothin’.”
Now now, VI. Some people think we should be totally ok with Afghanistan allowing their country to be used as a platform for AQ to launch attacks on our country. Some think we should be cool with that. They’re just couch-surfing in Afghanistan for a bit till they come over here to kill people. Like a murderous Kato Kaelin.
I’m confused… The CSM points out that more Afghans have been killed and injured as a result of these attacks, then blames OUR cultural insensitivity? If more Afghans have paid a high price, does that mean they are also insensitive to their culture?
