Anyone know where this idiotic meme started?

| July 9, 2012

It’s not even a little accurate (as 5 seconds of Teh Google would show), it references something that doesn’t exist (“The D-Day Monument”) and is exceedingly unhelpful.

Anyone know where this started? Or how to find the first copy of this picture online? Just curious, I’d love to know who makes this crap up.

wow, that’s even worse than the one made up about him not signing eagle scout certificates

hueydoc

they didn’t even do the research that would have told them that D-Day was in 1944, not 1945

JP

This is full of so much stupid i’m inclined to think Obama’s minions made it themselves to make the opposition look bad.

Hellboy

There is a D-Day memorial and monument in Bedford, VA… at the home of the “Bedford Boys”. http://www.dday.org/ I’m not sure that any sitting president has ever visited it.

Hondo

Idiots come in all political philosophies. As well as in all races/creeds/religions/ethnicities.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Racist douchebags make it up, that’s the problem….it then allows the Democrats to paint the opposition as being made up entirely of racists and takes the focus off of the fact the sitting president couldn’t accomplish anything even when he had a supermajority and no fear of filibusters….tripling the debt, changing nothing that has been spiraling down….exactly what is to be expected of someone who never served a full term in the Senate and introduced nothing of legislative substance during that time…

Let’s not talk about issues, let’s make it about his birth certificate or how he’s an Un American Muslim terrorist….nicely done j3rkoffs…perhaps if a few more folks knew how to play chess they’d understand the opening pawn moves only set the stage for the mid and end game and they’d be less likely to be so stupid early on…but I doubt it…

Perhaps he was inartfully referring to the American cemeteries in Normandy where they do have ceremonies every year. My wife took several trips there when she was teaching next door in Brittany. She never did get over the sheer number of graves there. It’s one reason military causes take up most of her charitable donations.

TSO

@8, I agree with you.

Last time I tried to correct someone that had something idiotic like this up I ended up getting yelled at by her and told that I was buying into the Media line again etc etc etc. Mind you there was no proof of what she was saying, and a ton of evidence supporting what I said, but for not believing it I was labelled a tool of the left wing.

It drives me nuts. But I always ask the same thing, is there really not enough to go on with this President that pisses you off that we need to invent shit? I just don’t get it.

This entire (short) thread is a breath of fresh humor —
until I realize that The (make-believe) President is the subject — Hard Times are ours, right now. Perhaps the good news is, that even the ignorant and unschooled are waking up, are trying to right what’s wrong — and I’ll take their assistance !!

@10 Exactly, an inexperienced Senator with no executive experience whatsoever runs for President…minimal qualifications at best and everyone falls for the “hope and change” because they are tired of the Republicans constantly telling them taxing rich folks less gets you more at the bottom….while that might be a true statement, wording it in a fashion that lets folks know it’s still a re-distribution of wealth on a national level might get more play…

We elect this inexperienced, underqualified Senator and we get nothing in return, it’s not surprising after the fact. I am just amazed that so many people didn’t get the Carter connection, Washington outsider with limited experience not able to get substantive issues taken care of…

And now the best the Republicans can come up with is Obama light, I am in the people’s republic of Massachusetts and Romney was no great shakes when he was the executive here….it’s too bad our races have become contests between the two least offensive candidates as opposed to the two best candidates, I think the Dems had better choices in ’08 to put up and the Republicans certainly could have done better than McCain…but what the h3ll do I know…

CaptMustang

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/dday.asp Looks like complete and utter fabrication on all levels.

This pisses me off…there is PLENTY to criticize the man on without making shit up!

oh hell, he’s a foreign born Muslim socialist subversive military bashing gun stealing conspiracist, just like Bush was a baby killing oil-plottingfascist Saudi-supporting moron…. no one can objectively look at anyone any more without trotting out the same old cliches…. as all you psycho PTSD-afflicted trained killers should know.

Avoid cliches like the plague.

@12: My sentiments exactly. A friend of mine made the statement, after Romney wrapped up the primaries; “is he really the best the republicans can do?”.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

@12
There are so many options for both parties that are relatively honest, hard working politicians, these folks lack the resources to compete on the national stage and that keeps them from the game…

@15

I am ok with my own graying in my 50s at least the hair on my head, but they never tell you that you get gray hair south of the border too my friend….that really weirded me out a bit….

If your going to trust Snopes for accurate info, you may just as well do the “BOHICA”. I’ll wager this originates from the Obama campaign, in fact I’ll put some earned cash on it.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

@20 Even if you believe that, if you can’t prove it the end result is it makes Obama’s opposition look like racist loons…the “truther” movement has already done it’s share of creating a way to tie Obama’s opposition to race rather than substance. There is plenty of damaging substance to provide material for debate regarding the reasons to not re-elect this president.

Americans don’t like racist loons generally, making Obama seem the victim of an organized attack from the right by bigoted, jealous white guys provides many people a reason to vote for him just to prove we Americans are not like that. I’m not interested in being represented by the likes of Orly Tait….I prefer to point out that this president increased the debt 3 fold, that when Bush was president Obama pointed out that oil costs were something the president could address, but now that Obama is president he can do nothing about because his hands are tied? Which is it? Was he lying then or lying now? These are all non-race related reasons to initiate a debate…this other nonsense is a great distraction and nothing more.

Bill R.

Actually there were several D-Days in 1945. Two of the most famous being Iwo Jima and Okinawa. But I’m quite sure neither are the one the caption is alluding to. Obama has more than enough to certify him as NOT a friend of the military, why would someone make this crap up?

CI

It’s illustrative of our society. We have a media that reports half truth and fabrications instead of news; the polity is polarized beyond logic…based largely on the previous statement.

There’s barely a politician [dead or alive] that doesn’t have enough factual shortcomings to accurately campaign against. But in our disposable culture, garbage like this is often taken at face value because it reinforces preconceived notions.

Hondo

Why? Two plausible reasons, Bill R:

1. They’re a freaking idiot.
2. Intentional dezinformatsiya.

I’m no longer surprised by the ignorance that permeates the Internet. With the invention of the WWW, we’ve just given voices to idiots who otherwise would be ignored by the public in general.
