Tim McGraw to give away 25 homes to vets

| May 24, 2012

Country musician, Tim McGraw has announced that he will give away a house to 25 veterans on each of his tour stops this summer, according to Stars & Stripes/Associated Press;

“My sister’s a veteran, my uncle’s a veteran, my grandfather was a veteran, one of my best friends is a veteran,” McGraw said in an interview. “I’ve known people my whole life who are in service to America. And I think in my position to be able to do something like that is probably the ultimate thing. So to be able to go on tour and provide sort of a stable foundation for a veteran and their family is something I really look forward to.”

“It’s going to be a great opportunity to set a family on track that’s done so much for us and my family,” McGraw said. “So I can’t imagine a better thing to do on tour. It’s going to be fun – I mean every tour date we’re going to be out there.”

See, Hollywood, that’s how it’s done – stop complaining that you don’t pay enough in taxes and whining that the government doesn’t do enough. Pry some of your wallets open and DO something, for a change.

Much better than all that empty talk from Follywood with that nonsensical ” Got Your 6″ campaign.

sadly, most of the receipients of these homes will probably be fraudsters, sh*tbags with general and OTH discharges, or shamtastic dirtbags in WTBs. while I applaud mcgraw’s generosity, I wish more thought would be put into vetting and selecting the right people to get these types of gifts.

Cynic, how dare you talk in generalizations like that. I spent 2 years at Walter Reed after my leg got blown off on patrol in 2010. I met maybe 3 people who i would consider Shamtastic dirtbags. Your personal experiences are so minuscule against the entirety of the military, Stop finding the negative in something that is so wonderfully positive. You’re just being an arse.

I’ve been intimately familiar with a lot of the negative stuff that the WTBs have been in the press for. As in working to deal with the mess and admin work sorting out the guys who have serious problems and those who really should just be “med hold.” I feel a tremendous amount of anger at those who give real wounded warriors a bad name. I regularly see the heroic guys at Walter Reed without limbs who continue on as true Soldiers. Yet the WTBs at places like Bragg have real issues that shouldn’t be pasted over with free trips to ball games and new homes for all. I see a civilian world that is simply incapable or too guilt ridden to properly vet those who really need help and those who are simply exploiting other people’s generosity. I just think we need to keep everyone honest.

No. 4 — ” . . . too guilt ridden . . . ” —
You really hit on something.

Here’s how I see it. The Liberal claims to be caring and feeling. That they WANT…no NEED to help people. But really when it comes down to it they can’t stand to think about something bad happening to someone. They can’t stand the thought of kid going hungry, a woman being abused, or someone being homeless.

I get that….I don’t like thinking about that either.

The difference is that I actually go do something about it. I volunteer, I work at a job that helps to prevent these things, and I teach my kids the same. But I also know that there is evil in the world. I know that if we don’t stand up to it the evil will get worst and effect more. I can’t stop it all, but I can stop just one. And if I do that, then that one will stop another and another and another…

The liberal? well they just want to know that the world is safe and happy. that a faceless nameless “they” is taking care of that hungry kid….actually doing it is not the point…they just want to know it is being done. this way the liberal can go back and drink coffee. Play Warcraft, and post sarcasm to Facebook and live a happy, nerf ball life. never having to risk it. safe. comfy. Ignorant of what really goes on.

As for the rest of us? We have a post to stand and a job to do.

Beavers are cute

As much as a liberal weiner that McGraw is…I applaud him on this one…..
