So tired of the sensationalist BS

Yeah, ya know, he was a lot of other things besides a veteran, too. For example, they could have said “Mexican Charged in OC Homeless Killings Makes First Court Appearance” but Lord knows that the Mexican community would have complained about it. Or, “Yorba Linda Man Charged in OC Homeless Killings Makes First Court Appearance” like they normally do.

But, no:

The only good thing about this from this seat is that he wasn’t a ‘Nam vet.

Thejester

That doesn’t help me out any , Zero…..I’m a nasty OIF vet with PTSD. Luckily I don’t mind the crazy label. Lol

Bah Bodenkurk

The media loves veterans who kill people. They always make money off the PTSD articles. In my old platoon there were three people who killed American citizens, and my battalion had more confirmed kills than any Army unit CONUS. There are a book and a movie about it, both called “The Wounded Platoon”. There are more articles titled “Lethal Warriors” or something, and it never getes old in the media’s eyes.

Frankly Opinionated

Why didn’t they say: “Wacky guy wearing shoes goes nuts n kills a lot of people.”?
America’s veterans and service people right now are held pretty highly among the general population. That fact alone is cause enough for the Mudstream Media to hold up the rare one who goes off and loses it, suggesting that it is typical behavior of the combat vet.
Sadly, just as 52 point something percent of American voters read, watched and followed the Mudstream Media into the voting booth in ’08, these same people are gullible enough to digest this shit and call it typical.

How about “Mexican arraigned on 4 counts of murder, prosecutors weigh hate crime charges”? I believe the 4 dead men were caucasian, even if not, wouldn’t their homeless status make them eligible for “special protections”?

What chaps my shorts is, as a Jarhead, the first thing they bring up is “ex Marine”! When Jimbo and I entered that burning electronics place and pulled out the cleaning lady, they didn’t say “ex Marines saved cleaning lady…” (I’m 1833 n Jimbo is 0311) we were simply “Tempe (Az) firefighters rescued the cleaning lady…”! It’s the same with Army too. “Ex Ranger, ex Special Forces went berserk and killed someone…”. Why not Catholic alter boy went crazy and… or Methodist youth leader lost his mind and…?

Doc Bailey

@6: I hate the EX being used. I am a former soldier. You are only an EX when you’re a fuck up.

Hey here’s a headline for you “arab man cries ‘Allah huackbar’ as he attacks Soldier Readiness Processing center” oh wait.

Beretverde

@#7 EX….not with POWs.. they are EX and NOT fuck-ups.

Doc Bailey

You don’t call POWs EX soldiers.

Beretverde

@#9- They are EX POWs not FORMER POWs! SGM Caviani (then MSG) once told me… “It’s EX POW, not a former POW… because once a POW… never again!” Caviani was not a fuck-up!As SFC Sweat in Tower Week would say: “Beat your boots… LEG!”
