More OWS news

So that’s Michael Moore’s cabin. You remember Michael Moore, right? He’s the guy who was down at the Occupy Wall Street protest railing about the 1% keeping all of the wealth to themselves. There’s more about Moore’s cabin at Big Government. Thanks to UpNorth for the link.

Another ninja sent us a link to Frank Miller’s rant against the occupy movement. Frank Miller is the guy who created the “300” comic book and produced the movie;

The “Occupy” movement, whether displaying itself on Wall Street or in the streets of Oakland (which has, with unspeakable cowardice, embraced it) is anything but an exercise of our blessed First Amendment. “Occupy” is nothing but a pack of louts, thieves, and rapists, an unruly mob, fed by Woodstock-era nostalgia and putrid false righteousness. These clowns can do nothing but harm America.

I think old Frank (and by “old” I mean that he’s two years younger than me) has it right. Nice to see someone out of Hollywood with some courage.

Adirondack Patriot sent us a link from Albany that detailed the state police hauling off arrestees from the Occupy Albany protest by the truckloads;

After the second van filled with protesters pulled away, dozens of demonstrators milled about on the sidewalk and on the fringes of the park. The people serving as the legal team at the protest were speaking with police. A fourth police van arrived at about 11:40 as the remaining demonstrators sang “This Land is Your Land.”

James tells us that at Occupy Salt Lake, another protester is found dead in his tent, authorities are planning to yank their occupation permit and drive them back into their parents’ basement.

[Police Chief Chris] Burbank says authorities found a propane heater inside the dead man’s tent.

Darwin strikes again. If you can’t stand those cold Salt Lake City nights, occupy Miami or Honolulu for Pete’s sake. Stupid hippie fucks.

One thing I learned that is hard for people to overcome…
Power AND Money corrupt people. Very few can not let it do that to them…but when you look at corrupt govt, business owners and criminals…they often get greedy.

AverageNCO

The OWS “movement” is seriously the real-life incarnation of Orwell’s Animal Farm. And Micheal Moore is Napoleon The Pig. His cabin is an example of Napoleon’s commandment, “ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL, BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS”

Cynic

@AverageNCO, nice analogy. Appropriate that Napoleon and Moore are both pigs.

AW1 Tim

The only thing I would point out is that the REAL Napoleon Bonaparte made himself useful to both himself and France. He wouldn’t have had any trouble dealing with pigs, both the 4-footed and 2-footed filthy hippie variety.

Personally, when the folks in public sanitation finally get around to cleaning these areas. I hope they use a LOT of bleach because otherwise those “camping” areas are gonna remain a biohazard for quite some time.

From Albany, the Daily Gazette provides this cryptic report about an Occupy Albany camper who was arrested for menacing with a hatchet:

“Apparently not related to the Occupy movement was the arrest of a homeless man in Lafayette Park about 6 p.m. State police said they responded to the park after receiving reports of an intoxicated male swinging a hatchet.”

“Troopers arrested Spencer Cline, 51, who they believe was living in the Occupy encampment. He was charged with disorderly conduct, released on a ticket to appear Friday in City Court and was back in the park later Saturday.”

Apparently not related to OWS. Yeah.

The aerial photo of Moore’s cabin is even better. I don’t think a person can get a sense of how monstrous this cabin is just from a frontal photograph. It has all sorts of wings that aren’t apparent in the picture above.

The dude has a lot of money. I don’t begrudge success. I just wish he’d stop claiming he’s a “regular guy”. He’s the one percent and he should just be up front about it.

He’s always cultivated his image as the hero of the working class, even claiming to be from Flint, Michigan. Flint is definitely a down and out city, having suffered greatly when GM moved its factory from Flint to Mexico. But Moore isn’t from Flint. He’s from the upper middle class Flint suburb of Davison. It’s just that he NEEDS to have roots in Flint so he can have some street cred.

Ben

I also have a hard time saying the he earned his money the honest way. Sure, he earned it by making movies, which is completely legal and not wrong in and of itself. But when you realize that his films are startling dishonest, you understand that he got rich by selling lies to the thirsty America-hating market.

It’s not like he got rich from organized crime. but…his money is kind of dirty.

Jonn, on a totally separate topic, that ad for Mutually Beneficial Arrangements in your sidebar is cracking me up. Go capitalism!! (and that’s in reference to selling ad space) haha

proof

You should cut Michael Moore some slack. I mean, just reinforcing the floors and widening the doors on any mansion he buys must set him back a couple mil!

NHSparky

A “working guy” who quit his first day on the assembly line.

He only needs one room, just a really BIG one. And I wonder if his house comes with a version of Princess Leia in a bikini?

OWB

Careful there, Sparky – you can’t call anyone Princess any more…

UpNorth

“Likely died from a combination of drugs and carbon monoxide poisoning.”. Yeah, what could go wrong when you’re stoned out of your mind, in an enclosed tent, with a propane-fueled heater burning up all the oxygen in the tent?
Natural selection at work, it does work most of the time.

The Dead Man

Wait we had an Occupy SLC? Either I’ve missed it in the papers or they just outright didn’t report it. Maybe I can get a friend to get a picture or two, though guessing by the miserable cold rain that turned to snow last night and the day before, they won’t be around too long.

Doesn’t matter, sucker bet guessing that they’re all middle class kids who’ve barely left their city let alone the state. Would’ve been a good excuse to abuse a former coworker with logic again though.

B Woodman

Dead Man,
Yes, there is an Occupy SLC. But it’s been the antithesis of everything all the other “Occupy” movements HAVEN’T been. Polite, on point with a message (or two, or three), willing to work within the law (they got moved from Pioneer Park the The Gallivan Center), peaceful.

B Woodman

As for Porky Moore, if he wants to be so much “the regular Joe” 99 per-center, I hope he doesn’t mind either giving up some of his ill-gotten 1% gains to the OWS movement, or allowing a group of hippies to move in with him into his little cabin. HEY! Maybe he can make a movie about it.

Joe

Now you’re quoting comic book writers to support your point of view. Kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel, huh?

NHSparky

As opposed to them thinking Miller and his Batman writing supported OWS, you fucking walking bag of fuckstick?

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439×2291636

And yeah, they got that idea from an article written in the Guardian, hardly a bastion of conservative thought–or ANY thought, for that matter:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/oct/27/batman-hero-occupy-protesters?newsfeed=true

Seriously, do you even think before you post or do you like the smell of the dogshit you just laid on the carpet being shoved back up your nostrils? Again, not a fair comparison to make–eventually even the stupidest dog figures out not to shit on the carpet.
