That is awesome Zero!!!!! My Dad has been playing this song almost nonstop lol. He first heard it as a lowly Mid, and then again as a Lieutenant afloat with the FMF in the Med in the early 1980’s

I do love the Tommy Gun to…but I don’t think it’s simple and it took so much labor and machining to make, they replaced it with the grease gun, which is a P.O.S. (in my opinion.) The Tommy Gun is very cool and with practice, you can hit targets OK– on semi auto. Full Auto is fun, but useful only in close.

My old drinking pal, Marshall Holybee (505th) jumped into Sicily, Salerno, (wounded & missed Normandy) and Holland. Got wounded again during the Battle of the Bulge and his war ended. I asked what weapons they carried, and he said “anything we wanted.” I asked him what weapon he specifically carried. He lit up and said the Thompson. I asked why that was his choice, and he said, “Ammunition, ammunition, ammunition.” He also said since he was a squad leader, if he fired all of his rounds on automatic at a specific target, everyone in the squad was to fire as well at that target. Marshall died in 2000. When people talk about the Thompson I think fondly of him and the pictures he showed me of him carrying it in WWII. Great guy… great weapon. As for Roland… never met him.
