53 percenters

| October 11, 2011

Apparently, according to Ezra Klein at the Washington Post there’s movement underway to answer the 99%ers protesting across the country with a conservative movement founded by Erick Erickson of Red State blog. They call themselves the 53 percent;

The Tumblr is supposed to represent the 53 percent of Americans who pay federal income taxes, and its assumption is that the Wall Street protesters are part of the 46 percent of the country who don’t.

The overriding message is that the protesters have failed to take personal responsibility, blaming their economic troubles on others. “Suck it up you whiners. I am the 53 percent subsidizing you so you can hang out on Wall Street and complain,” writes Erickson

Of course, klein goes on to blame Republicans and conservatives for creating a class of people who don’t pay taxes;

…while the Bush-era tax cuts benefited the wealthy, they also lowered taxes at every income level, making it “relatively easy for families of four making $50,000 to eliminate their income tax liability,” as the Associated Press notes.

Yeah, Klein, those aren’t the people Erickson is protesting…it’s the leaches who are camped out in city centers across the country who are demanding more for the privilege to not participate in the economy. A family of four earning $50,000 are participating. Dumbass.

The family of four that may have eliminated their liability are at least not sucking up other peoples money with entitlements….
