Minnesota clown show

| September 1, 2008

Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit reports the bus he was riding in was bombarded by bags of cement as they went under an overpass on the way to the Excel Center. He has pictures and videos at Founding Bloggers. Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs has pictures of battles between anarchists and police.

From Associated Press;

Instead of a single coherent march that organizers had hoped for, fringe groups of anarchists and others wrought havoc along the streets between the state Capitol and the convention site. Some anarchists who had started the trash bin fire later tried to block a major intersection. Police quickly dispersed the group, then shot two tear gas canisters at the fleeing anarchists.

Pictures taken by Associated Press photographers showed officers using pepper spray on protesters who appeared to be trying to block streets.

“There are people who are committing violations of law and they’re being arrested,” Walsh said.

About 200 people from a group called Funk the War noisily staged its own separate march. Wearing black clothes, bandanas and gas masks, some of their members smashed windows of cars and stores. They tipped over newspaper boxes, pulled a big trash bin into the street, bent the rear view mirrors on a bus and flipped heavy stone garbage bins on the sidewalks.

The AP has only one photo that I could find;

The fellow in handcuffs appears to be from Somalia, Ethiopia or Eritrea…somewhere in that area.

The Star-Tribune says the locals called out the National Guard to assist police;

Thousands of antiwar demonstrators marched today from the State Capitol to the site of the Republican National Convention, despite the big-name cancellations and amid a smattering of protest actions that led to arrests and some property damage in St. Paul.

Scattered clashes between protesters and police continued into the evening. The National Guard has been called out to assist.

At about 3 p.m. at the request of the St. Paul Police Department, 150 Minnesota Army National Guard soldiers were asked to assist with crowd control   downtown.

Another photo from the S-T;

Fausta is writing from inside the Excel Center that riot police are confronting more protesters outside of the Excel Center.

I think the Denver police got off easy. We’re going to see a lot of ignorant, spoiled rich kids end up in jail this week (and probably released next week). It’s also going to ratchet up the level of violence and property damage at all protests from this moment forward…right up through inauguration day no matter who wins the election. Unless the police, prosecutors and judges in Minnesota enforce the law like they should.

As demonstrators passed by a fenced-in area near the Xcel, 10 helmeted riot police holding long wooden batons stood at attention on the other side.

“What country do we live in?” said Patrick Swinehart, 20, a protester from Plymouth. “I’ve never seen anything like this. It looks a hell of a lot like a police state.”

You made it that way, ya little punk-ass, spoiled, rich sissyboy.

“smashed windows of cars and stores”? What the — oh, so THAT’S the way it’s going to be? I see, ok. Nasty Republican convention and the oh, so sweet and wonderful Dem. convention? Is that the spin?

Idiots.

Peter

Be careful depending on the Star and Sickle for truth, the Pioneer Press of St. Paul is less Leftist.

National Guard called in to quell riots?

I hope they issued them a bunch of SAW’s or at least some PIGS and plenty of ammo.

I also read somewhere they attacked an 80 year old delegate.

Gramps: the 83-year old delegate was from Connecticut. The Politico covered it here: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13067.html

Sounds like there should be several hundred nuts charged with felony attempt to commit murder. Does the twin cities have any law enforcement or are they in the bag as enforcers for the Chicago mob, aka Hussein O?

Seems to me the rioting Somali-type ought to be deported and sent back home as soon as he’s finished his prison term -rioting, attempting to overthrouw the US political process, being generally undesirable. He’s an alien who has just made himself illegal. He he doesn’t like it here? – let him go back to the sand pits.
