Corey Lewandowski fired pilot for leaving Kristi Noem’s blanket on plane as sources say pair ‘spending nights regularly’ together

WASHINGTON — Corey Lewandowski fired a Coast Guard pilot for leaving Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s blanket on a plane — but was forced to rehire them upon realizing there was nobody else to fly the party home, according to a stunning new report.
Lewandowski, an unpaid special government employee who unofficially acts as chief of staff for Noem — with whom he’s had a years-long affair — has overseen a reign of terror over department workers since President Trump took office last year.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Noem had to switch planes during an official trip due to a maintenance issue, but her blanket was not moved to the replacement aircraft.
Lewandowski fired the pilot and told them to find a commercial flight home when they reached their destination, only to reinstate them due to the lack of a backup.
The report did not specify when or where the incident occurred.
For an unpaid lacky Lewandowski got a bit over his skis here, no doubt basking in the reflected glory of Secretary Noem. He also looked like an idiot. Stories like this travel fast and far in the military aviation community, and we don’t forget. The horror stories of Hillary and the Presidential Helo were epic, for example.

The liberal media has been reporting on the affair for a while now, this is the first jump to a major conservative leaning news organization. Makes me wonder if there is something to it after all.

I forget I was Navy, where rules are followed, bent or ignored as necessary to complete the mission.
Knowing what we all here know about federal civil service laws and military service obligations, I can think of no authority that would allow for summary termination of employment or dismissal from service.
But, “firing” sure draws more eyeballs-to-paper than “we asked for a different crew to fly us back”.
The dude’s a pilot. Not a flight attendant. Fuck off, Lewandowski! I hope Noem didn’t have a hand in this as having a conservative version of Hilary Clinton is about as toxic as the liberal version.
At least Noem is easier on the eyes than Hillary!

I can’t imagine myself saying, “you are fired for forgetting to pick up the blanket someone else left behind.” Holy cow, that’s a small man. Firing isn’t some casual thing you do. I’ve fired a few people, but they needed it and only after a pattern of failure to perform after appropriate retraining and counseling. And, even then, it’s hard. Fired for a blanket? Yeah, we would have strong words.
I’m kinda surprised Ol’ Corey didn’t have to have that blanket carefully removed from his ass.
