Gun grabbing in NC

| August 26, 2011

ROS sends us a link from the Charlotte Gun Rights Examiner which reports that the North Carolina governor has suspended gun rights in the face of the impending Hurricane Irene;

Yesterday, North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue signed Executive Order No. 62, declaring a State of Emergency in advance of Hurricane Earle. In doing so, Perdue suspended the right of state residents to use or carry firearms outside their premises.

So when North Carolina is going to most need armed, law-abiding citizens to maintain law and order in the State, they’re instead disarming it’s citizens. So criminals know that anyone not on their own property are unarmed.

Can you say “bull-effing-shit”?

This happened almost a year ago, 2 Sep 2010 for Hurricane Earle so have the good people of North Carolina made their voices heard so it doesn’t happen again today with the approach of Irene?

Mlyvers

There will be alot of us North Carolinians breaking the law then, of course most of us in the Appalachian Mtns will ingnore it without a secound thought.

PintoNag

Why are our elected officials so out of touch with us that they treat us like rabid dogs at a moment’s notice? Where the hell do they come from — Mars??

Miss Ladybug

Any time to fight this in the courts?

Claymore

Mol?n labe!

Frankly Opinionated

What? Are they reading Ray Nagin’s playbook? What a crock.

The Old One

O.K. you guys, Governor “Dumpling” is a good and loyal democrap…she drinks the kool-aide by the gallon, everyone here just ignores her trifling, liberal a**…that includes 95% of law enforcement.

Spade

Wrong EO. EO 62 is for Earle. Last year.

The correct EO, EO 103 says:
“This order is adopted pursuant to my powers under Article 1 of Chapter 166A of the General Statutes and under Article 36A of Chapter 14 of the General Statutes. It does not trigger the limitations on weapons in G.S. § 14-288.7 or impose any limitation on the consumption, transportation, sale or purchase of alcoholic beverages.”

Frankly Opinionated

One more reason to carefully consider the need to visit the state. Keep it up Democraps and you will have no tourism.

DirtDartBill

The article the link takes you to is dated for 2010. Did it get invoked again?

#1 Sniper, That and “Cold dead hands”.

The last thing I would do in an emergency is intentionally make myself more likely to be a victim. If I lived in NC I would just make sure that what I was carrying was not visible to the casual observer.

Old Trooper

Old one: Someone had to elect her trifling, liberal ass. Is she due for re-election in 2012?

ROS

Yes, Bill, I’m just an idiot and forgot to include both.

#13: Doesn’t matter – if not her, then another approved by Raleigh-Durham-Charlotte mobs. Not everyplace can be Texoma.

Show Me

ROS, see comment #9 from Spade. Gov. Perdue specifically excluded invoking the gun ban from this year’s executive order. Daily Pundit and, I guess, Confederate Yankee got it flat wrong.

I’m a strong supporter of gun rights, but fair is fair. Mistakes like this destroy our own credibility.

USMC Steve

Not unless the assholes trying to take my weapon out of my hands can gain fire superiority. Otherwise they are going to get killed. I don’t bother to take prisoners and I do shoot wounded.

USMC Steve

The question was asked up above about why elected officials just seem to ignore the will of their constituents so ofter? The reason is that we don’t kill them when they do. And we need to start. When North Carolina starts pulling this type of New Orleans shit it is time to start the war.

PintoNag

USMC Steve: Spade, in #9, pointed out that the executive order this year avoided the “gun ban” section of the 2010 order. That’s a step in the right direction, although I would prefer to see gun laws loosened, not tightened, during emergencies, so folks can protect themselves, as necessary.

I do understand your frustration, and we must always be alert to abuse of our rights; but just remember, the gun owners in this country are millions strong, and while we have the ballot boxes available to us, it won’t be necessary for us to use deadly force.

Left/libtards envy Ray Nagin.

[…] crisis September 27th, 2011 North Carolina Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue, the same governor who suspends gun rights for hurricanes has decided that maybe we should suspend Congressional elections so politicians can focus on jobs […]

Bev Perdue needs to be impeached. Her stripping North Carolinians of their gun rights in an emergency is just one of many scandals in that corruptocrat’s long and dirty political history. You can read about some others here, where I’ve included a hat tip link to This Ain’t Hell:
Bev Perdue has Ample Motivation for Wanting to “Suspend” Elections
