British Airways employee plotted terror
Rajib Karim plotted with US-born radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki to disrupt and destroy flights from Heathrow Airport. Anwar al-Awlaki is also said to be connected to the Nidal Hasan murders at Fort Hood, TX and the Chicago underwear bomber according to the Daily Mail;
Desperate for martyrdom, the Bangladesh-born fanatic volunteered to train as cabin crew in the hope of blowing up aircraft, it was alleged.
The software engineer is also said to have planned to hijack BA computer systems to ground flights, causing chaos for millions of passengers.
Yeah, like the airlines need help causing chaos for passengers.
Karim had already begun to build a terror cell in Britain, recruiting a baggage handler from Heathrow Airport and a security guard, it was claimed.
Karim pleaded guilty to three terror-related charges, but denied others, including the accusation he plotted to bring down any flights, Laidlaw told the court. Karim, who worked at a call center in Newcastle, England, applied for cabin crew training but was told he didn’t have enough experience, prosecutors said.
Foiled by his ego.

I hate to ask this question, but wouldn’t this dude switching careers from a software code monkey to a flight attendant send up like a bajillion red flags?
You never know, Claymore. Maybe that’s what got him noticed in the first place. Maybe things like that ARE starting to send up the red flags…denials to the contrary notwithstanding.

I’ve eaten their food and had my luggage lost by them (twice). That alone should have had Amnesty International gnashing their teeth and whining about “torture” more than anything that’s happened to Bradley Manning, et al.
