How much do you trust Democrats?

| September 24, 2010

Well, they hope you trust them a whole lot because they’ve decided that they’re not going to renew the Bush tax cuts for even the middle class until after the elections. Those tax cuts expire at the end of the following month and affect every tax payer. (Fox Business News link)

“Democrats believe we must permanently extend tax cuts for the middle-class before they expire at the end of the year, and we will,” Jim Manley, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Reid said in an email. “Unfortunately, to this point we have received no cooperation from Republicans to do so.”

The Senate will come back after its recess for the November elections to address the issue, he said. The Senate had been expected to take the lead on the issue, though House leaders were still discussing whether to take their own vote, according to aides.

Of course, it’s always the Republicans’ fault. More than 300 economists signed a letter to Obama claiming that tax hikes on even the highest earning Americans will have a severe impact on the economy. I’d argue that it already has since no one is spending money this year in case they need it next year to pay their taxes. If no one spends money, how does the economy recover?

Senator Charles Grassley, the senior Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, said putting off a vote was irresponsible and reckless.

“Leaving people with uncertainty is a dereliction of duty. One party has control of the White House and both houses of Congress and still can’t get the people’s business done,” he said in a statement.

It’s more than irresponsible to hold the American people hostage for more than a month trapped in a poorly performing economy. Sure they’ve promised to keep the tax cuts in place, but how many promises have politicians broken over the last couple of hundred years. Never happened, right?

And what are the chances that these lame ducks, knowing they’ve got no future after being voted out, put up every roadblock possible once they are back in session. Just out of spite? “Screw ’em! They voted us out now they can pay more in taxes.”

Jonn-

It isn’t funny when I supply people with facts and they tell me I am lying. I posted something in a comment section about how if the tax cuts are allowed to expire that those making 34,550.00 will see a tax increase because they will move from the 10% bracket to 15%. Then I noted that a family of four making 60,000.00 will see an increase of 2k and the increase will be 6k with an income of 200,000.00. A reply was given from someone who voted for the Pied Piper:
“From what I’ve heard no one wants the tax cuts dropped for anyone but the highest tax bracket. I’m pretty sure nothing changes for the under 250K people.”

Need I say more about the sheer ignorance of people? I even provided the websites where they could get the info!!

defend–come back to them within the first two weeks of 2011 and see if they’re still singing the same tune.

If no one spends money, how does the economy recover?

Oh come on, we all know that the Government needs to take that money and spend it in the *right* places to make the economy grow. It’s all Keynesian and such…

I guarentee ALL tax cuts will expire if the Dems remain in power and if they lose, they’ll hold no vote so that they expire out of spite.

Trust them to do their jobs? We can’t even trust them to know what their jobs are…

“The Senate had been expected to take the lead on the issue, though House leaders were still discussing whether to take their own vote, according to aides.”

Take a quick look at article 1, section 7 of the US Constitution. I realize the whole unamended document is over 4,500 words, and expecting them to read and understand the entire thing is asking a lot, but if they’re going to swear an oath to support and defend it maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea for them to at least have a passing familiarity with the part of it that defines their role in government.

It is because they are pathologically incapable of not stealing and spending other peoples’ money. And they are freaking stupid. Had they passed this thing and kicked the cuts back in, some of them might have kept their jobs. But again that Pavlovian tax and spend thing kicked in, so they just could not do it. They fukked themselves even worse and don’t care or realize it yet.

GOOD.

PintoNag

Nope. Not buyin’ their garbage anymore. Don’t care if they vote or don’t vote now…about anything.

They’re out of a job. PERIOD.
