What the Hell is Wrong with Lindsay Graham?

| March 10, 2010

To Lindsay Graham bi-partisanship is hotter than a two dollar whore on nickel night. Like him or not no one can question Graham’s tendency (or is it compulsion) to reach across the senate aisle. This guy can reach like Stretch Armstrong.

In fact given his amazing reaching abilities I bet he would have been a big hit in one of Eric Massa’s “tickle parties”. (TSO assures me with 100% confidence that Graham is just as heterosexual as Massa.)

The point is that you can always count on Graham leading almost every bi-partisan charge. Shortly after the election Graham partnered with mental Goliath John Kerry to save the planet by pushing “Cap and Tax” legislation. Even now that the whole foundation of climate science has all but imploded these two idiots are pressing on undeterred in their effort to double energy prices and surge unemployment to 20%.

He is also currently in collusion with Rahm Emanuel to cut a deal to close GITMO. The only reason to close GITMO is to salvage a President who is floundering in every poll out there. It has nothing whatsoever to do with defending our country or doing what makes sense; it is all about rescuing the image of our anointed man-child. Why does Graham give a shit? Isn’t that Axelrod’s job?

With deficits soaring, unemployment increasing, a Congressional approval rating at the lowest in history, two wars going on and the one issue holding the entire credibility of the Presidency against the ropes; Graham thinks what we really need right now is a massively divisive political gunfight to really bring us all together.

And he thinks that a President with a -21 approval rating needs to make this priority one:

For the past six months, Graham and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) — who meet with Obama at 3 p.m. Thursday — have worked on a reform framework. Their plan, which hasn’t been introduced yet, includes a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants (a liberal must-have) while sweetening the pot for moderates by proposing tough new safeguards, including a biometric national ID card for workers.

To the frustration of many reform advocates, Obama has kept his opinions of the possible deal vague, giving a head nod to reform in his State of the Union speech but not much more.

Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro offered no response to Graham’s challenge but reiterated the administration’s intention to allow Congress to hash things out before Obama weighs in, an approach reminiscent of his health reform strategy.

Having said that it is unlikely that the President is going to get in front of yet another train wreck in the making but that won’t stop Lindsay’s reaching.

Understanding how controversial this whole healthcare debacle is and doesn’t appear to be getting any better anytime soon, Graham comes to the rescue with…you guessed it, more reaching.

His plan worked so well when he and John McCain and other “moderate” reachers undermined the Republican majority years ago when they formed the famous “Gang of 14”.

In the interest of bi-partisanship, Lindsay wants to do it again:

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) wants to revive the bipartisan Gang of 14 — this time for health care reform, not judicial nominees.

But most of his moderate Democratic colleagues aren’t rushing to R.S.V.P.

Except of course now that the Democrats are in the majority they are just not that into Lindsay.

Will Lindsay learn from this? No. On Thursday he will meet again with the far reaches of the left to undermine the conservative movement that he has never been a true member of.

Lindsay Graham is not a conservative he is a liberal; and apparently a fairly stupid one at that.

“We have to do something”

One of the most dangerous ideas to pass the lips of a politician.

Major Kong

Looming catastrophic budget deficits, the American people being abused on a daily basis by the ruling elite, a president who seems hell-bent for leather to bring the country down and and good ole Lindsay thinks amnesty for illegal aliens is just what we need. This country need to purge politicians such as he if we are to survive.

Graham realizes that conservatives don’t get airtime in the MSM, and the most dangerous space in DC is between him and a camera. And as far as TSO’s observation, yeah, that’s about as resounding an endorsement as being the smartest kid on the short bus, too.

Then again, I’m wondering how TSO knows this. I don’t WANT to know, but I’m just drawn to the sight of the train wreck. I can’t look away, man…

Adirondack Patriot

I know what’s wrong with Lindsey Graham. He is genuinely stupid.

The real question I have is why do the people of South Carolina put up with this putz? Elect a true conservative, not some clown who drinks from the “bipartisan” kool aid bowl.

NHSparky

That’s what I can’t fathom, AP–they’ve got a good guy in Jim DeMint, but then they also sent this ass-clown to the Senate. What the hell, over?

ECM

Question (for those that would know): why do people in SC keep electing this guy??

TSO

Worst held secret on the hill.

You owe me a bottle of mind bleach, dude. I expect it to be overnighted by FedEx.

Mrs. BNG and I were just discussing how we allowed this to happen to Congress.

Before you jump all over me, think back not too long ago when just about every poll about congress showed that congress as a whole stunk on ice, but that people thought that their Reps and Senators had it together. Vote the bums out, just not “my” bum.

Graham was just re-elected in ’08, so he is safe from the current anti-incumbent wave. He has 2.7 Million left in the bank after the election.

3 Guesses who was the top recipient from the National Republican Senatorial Committee. You guessed it, even with 2.7 left over in the bank. Think about that the next time they call asking for cash.

BNG–Yep–totally reminiscent of the old LBJ philosophy, “He may be a sonofabitch, but by God, he’s **OUR** sonofabitch.”

No, not really–not when he stabs you in the back as easily as breathing, he’s not your SOB.

AW1 Tim

He says “We need to do something”.

Okay. Hows about this, then? We round up all the illegals and send them back to their home country. We send a bill to their home country for the cost of sending them back. If the country doesn’t pay it, then we add it as a tax to whatever it is they are exporting to us.

Mine the border. Put guard towers, machine guns, tanks, dogs, whatever. Seal it shut. Establish a DNA data base of every illegal caught. If they are found back in the country without the proper papers, they get shot on site. No trial. No jail.

No one I am aware of, or call a friend has any problem with immigration. It is the ILLEGALS who need to be dealt with, and that right sharply.

Passing an amnesty bill cheapens the citizenship of everyone who went through it the proper way.

We have enough unemployed citizens right now that we don’t need to tolerate the presence of a single illegal. We can start with Obama’s aunt.

She STILL hasn’t been deported?

OldTrooper

No, Sparky, she hasn’t. She’ll be here longer than Hasan will be on death row.

As for Schumer……it doesn’t surprise me that NY would keep re-electing the slimiest scumbag in politics. Yeah, when you look at congress with disdain and think they are all a bunch of scum, the one person that is at the top of the heap and out-lowclasses the rest of them, then you will see Chuck Schumer. I’m still trying to figure out anything positive about the guy. Anyone that works with Schumer on any legislation is working with the devil at their own peril.

If you haven’t figured out………..I don’t like Schumer. He has no redeeming qualities.

so Grammy isn’t a conservative, can you define what is?

under the “definition” given in the post a person is the opposite of what they claim to be if the reach across the aisle. so that would make Obama a conservative, according to the logic of the post, and I don’t think that is what was meant. at all.

Adirondack Patriot

Don’t play freshman year political science games, like asking “What IS a conservative?” It’s like asking “What is the color blue?” If you have to ask, you wouldn’t understand anyway.

Let me tell what conservatism isn’t: Reaching out to cooperate with liberals for some elusive kumbaya moment. If you reach out to liberals to help them achieve their objectives, that’s NOT being conservative.

And by the way, can you show me in the U.S. Constitution where “bipartisanship” is listed as one of the objectives of the federal government?

And since you’re into definitions, can you tell us how we know when we have achieved it?

richard mcenroe

At the risk of seeming common, free pussy would be a bad idea if Chuck Schumer endorsed it.

It’s time to start calling self-indulgent egotrippers like McCain and Graham what they are: Vanity Senators.

Scrapiron

434 criminals in congress make the other one look bad.

RebYank

I left my crystal ball at home, so no, I don’t know how COB6 defines conservatism. but now I know adirpat can’t define it except for what it isn’t, which is like the elemtary school version.

Adirondack Patriot

Yeah. Whatever.

UpNorth

In the online dictionary, under “not a conservative” is a picture of Lindsey Graham. Close enough for ya, Reb?
