Man accused of vandalizing Tyler Veterans Day flags connected to church vandalism
A Tyler flag display meant for Veterans Day and a church in Flint were vandalized Thursday night, leading to one man’s arrest.
According to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, Timothy Myers Poole, 48, of Tyler, tore flags down at a Veterans Day display across from the W. T. Brookshire Conference Center and vandalized Lakewood Church in Flint.
According to the SCSO, Poole shattered the glass on the front door of Lakewood Church by throwing a concrete lid, similar to a sceptic tank lid, into them. Deputies searched the church but found no one inside, but a church representative arrived at the church and showed them video of the incident happening.
According to the sheriff’s office, around 9:30 p.m. a deputy was conducting an unrelated traffic stop when Poole pulled up on the deputy and exited his vehicle. Poole allegedly approached the deputy and became aggressive with him. The deputy gave Poole several orders to leave the traffic stop or back away but refused. He was subsequently arrested for interfering with public duties and booked into the Smith County Jail.
Friday, after Poole was identified as a suspect in the church vandalism, a warrant was issued for his arrest and crimial mischief was added to his charges.
Poole is also allegedly the man caught on camera tearing down American flags and bending flag poles at the Rotary Club of Tyler’s “Field of Valor” display at the Rose Garden complex.
“It’s more heartbroken with how things are going, and I don’t care which way you’re leaning left or right, it doesn’t matter,” said Justin Murillo, who witnessed and recorded the vandalism. “I served… I’ve folded the flag, I’ve carried the casket, I’ve put brothers to rest.”
According to Tyler Police Department spokesperson Andy Ebaugh, Poole left his driver’s license at the scene.
The Rotary Club estimates it will cost over $2,000 to replace the broken flag poles.
“I don’t know what your intention was to tear the flags down or cause destruction, but it’s not going to stop us from honoring the people we honor and sacrificing,” said Club President Alex Fruth.

Woman pleads guilty for falsely accusing ex-wife, a NASA astronaut, of hacking bank account from space
The former wife of a NASA astronaut pleaded guilty on Thursday to lying to law enforcement, according to U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.
Summer Worden, 50, faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine for the false 2019 claim about her then-estranged wife, Anne McClain.
In March 2019, Worden told investigators that the astronaut had guessed the password and illegally accessed her bank account while McClain was deployed to the International Space Station. Worden, a former Air Force intelligence officer, said the astronaut had committed identity theft, despite not seeing any indication of moved or spent funds, the New York Times reported.
The case became the first criminal allegation against someone in space.
McClain said from the beginning that there was absolutely no truth to the allegations.
“Summer and I have been going through a painful and personal separation that is now unfortunately playing out in the media. I appreciate all the outpouring of support, and I will reserve any further comment until after the investigation concludes,” she said in August 2019.
During the investigation, the feds discovered that Worden had actually opened the account in April 2018. Both parties had accessed it until January 2019 when Worden changed the credentials. The investigation revealed Worden had granted her spouse access to her bank records from at least 2015, including her login credentials.
Worden will be sentenced by a federal judge in Houston in February 2026.

Zwolle assistant police chief arrested for allegedly staging shooting of patrol unit
Zwolle Assistant Police Chief Christopher Goodman has been arrested for allegedly staging the shooting of his patrol unit, Sabine Parish Sheriff Aaron Mitchell announced.
Goodman, 48, of Many, was arrested after investigators found inconsistencies in his account of a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, Oct. 26.
Goodman initially reported that a vehicle pulled up behind or beside him and began firing at his patrol unit while he was driving on U.S. Highway 171 near Old Pleasant Hill.
Investigators reportedly found inconsistencies in Goodman’s story of the events, along with initial digital and firearm evidence and statements from other individuals that led to probable cause for an arrest warrant.
Goodman was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center on multiple charges, including malfeasance in office and tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, criminal damage to property valued between $1,000 and $50,000, and criminal mischief.
No bond has been set.
Goodman remains employed with the Zwolle Police Department but has been placed on leave following his arrest.

Fake captain allegedly flew hundreds of plane passengers using forged credentials
It was a sky-high scam.
A co-pilot allegedly forged certificates to qualify himself for a captain position with a Lithuanian airline — and helmed flights carrying hundreds of passengers throughout Europe.
The faux flyer, whose identity was not disclosed, served as a captain for Lithuanian airline Avion Express for an unspecified period of time. He apparently lacked the necessary qualifications and had only ever worked as a co-pilot with Garuda Indonesia, German outlet Aero Telegraph reported.
Avion Express, a “wet-lease” company that specializes in providing aircraft and full crews to other airlines, confirmed that it employed the pilot, who has since been removed.
“The company recently became aware of unverified information regarding his professional experience. An internal investigation was immediately launched and is currently ongoing,” a company spokesperson told the outlet.
The carrier added that its hiring procedures line up with aviation regulations and assured that “safety and compliance” are the company’s “highest priorities.”
The man also piloted flights for other Western European airlines through Avion Express, including Eurowings, which is based in Germany.
Eurowings confirmed that it was “[taking] up the matter with our safety experts for a more detailed examination,” the outlet reported.
Avion Express was founded in 2005 and charters flights to Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. It is part of the larger Avia Solutions Group, a Lithuanian-owned holding group headquartered in Ireland.
Its fleet consists of 55 Airbus A320 family aircraft, which can seat up to 180 passengers, according to the Airbus Aircraft website.
Eurowings is a low-cost airline that frequently partners with other airlines, including Avion Express. It is primarily owned by the Lufthansa Group, which holds stakes in multiple other airlines, including Australian Airlines, Swiss International Airlines and Brussels Airlines.
Other high-flying impostors, like notorious conman Frank Abagnale, have forged credentials of airline staff to catch a free ride, but never dared to sit behind the controls.
In June, one Florida man was convicted of fraud after he used roughly 30 different kinds of fake flight attendant credentials to book more than 100 free flights over six years.

looks like the Asst. Police Chief Goodman wasn’t a good man after what he did. Wasn’t a good idea for the man
Looks like Poole should be charged with both stupidity AND being an all-around jerk. Probably a terminal case of Living While Democrat.
“Worden, a former Air Force intelligence officer…”
And this is why the rest of us make jokes about the “military intelligence” oxymoron.
A friend of Hack’s lovely bride Rosetta Stone is married to an individual who was a Major in Air Force Intel. Hack Stone was hosting a Super Bowl party in 2004 (the one with the Nip Slip) at Stately Stone Manor, and after the game ended attendees were filtering out and heading home. Not this guy. For someone who works in Intel, he can’t pick up a clue when it is time to leave. He wanted to use Hack’s computer to “check his email”. The next day Hack checked the browser history, and he was on Plenty of Fish. If you’re going to use an acquaintance’s computer to cheat on your wife, at least clear out the browser history.
Hack also knows that the guy had a habit of driving drunk, so Hack plugged his name into the Maryland Case Judicial Search to see if he got nailed for DUI. Didn’t find any cases on him, though his wife was arrested for stabbing him. They are still married, but quite often he is conspicuously absent for extended periods of time. They probably went through counseling and decided to take another stab at the relationship.
The greatest con that Frank Abagnale ever pulled off was convincing people that he actually did all of the shit he claimed to have done. Plenty of videos on YouTube that dissect all of his claims and give point by point rebuttals with supporting documentation. As to (see what Hack did there?) this guy, he is on the fast track as a senior pilot for Spirit Airlines.
Timothy Myers Poole needs to be thrown a blanket party by as many vets as want to attend.
Consider that a warm up for the Jane Fonda grave pissing contest.
First keg is on me.
Poole looks like he too a few too many chromosomes from the gene pool.
He ain’t gonna do well in jail.
I think he got the rare Z chromosome.
Only one thing worse than a pissed off ex-wife. TWO pissed off ex-wives!
Looks like Flag Boy was having fun at booking. He’s a happy guy!
Mama would be so proud of her little porkie!
I wonder if the other inmates have already literally had fun with his ass come shower time?
A bit off topic, but……………..As for the article on the former wife of the female NASA Astronaut, I’m confused. How do they determine which one is the wife and which one is the husband? Why aren’t they both wives since they are both woman? Now, with the ones who look, act and dress all “butch” I guess I can see it, but I’m still confused here. Can any of you offer any explanation aside from the fact that it’s just plain fucking weird?
JPFW.
Just plain fucking weird.
New acronym …. I like it.
Summer Worden? Our previous Center Director (NASA Ames Research Center) was retired USAF BG Pete Worden. This cannot be a coincidence
…. and Google says she is his daughter.
