Armed Citizen Played Key Role in Stopping Cambridge Shooter
By Dave Workman
A legally armed private citizen, described by the media as a Marine Corps veteran, played a key role in stopping a shooting rampage Monday in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The actions of the unidentified armed citizen are being hailed by a leading gun rights organization. The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is applauding the armed citizen’s actions.
According to various news agencies, including WCVB, the suspect in this case is identified as 46-year-old Tyler Brown of Boston. There is no known motive for the rampage. Two shooting victims were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening wounds, according to reports.
The shooting erupted at about 1 p.m. Monday along a busy Cambridge street, where the suspect unleashed a volley of rounds at passing motorists. He was armed with what is described as an “assault-style weapon,” which, as a convicted felon who is reportedly on supervised probation, he could not legally possess.
WHDH News is reporting that the suspect served time in prison for having opened fire at a Boston police officer in 2020. In 2021, Brown was sentenced to six years in state prison followed by three years of probation.
When the shooting started Monday, at least two people were seriously wounded. Reports say between 50 and 60 rounds were fired before the armed citizen and a state trooper returned fire, bringing the suspect down. The incident was captured on video.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan told reporters that the suspect was hit several times as the trooper and armed citizen both returned fire.

BZ to the Marine for stepping up. I’m sure the State Po-Po was happy his Massachusetts-required credentials allowed him to assist in halting the crime.

BZ kicking ass Marine
A “good guy with a gun” helping out another “good guy with a gun” to take out a bad guy with a gun. Pity the perp is still stealing oxygen. How much you want to be he gets released on bond.
Also.. he was ” known to LE”
He votes / contributes to Dims
He is active on bluesky or some other lefties platform..
Change my mind..
When you shoot at law enforcement they tend to remember little incidents like that.
No good at maff.
How much is 2021 + 6 = ?
Because if it is more than 2026 why was the honor student not in prison? I mean six years plus three years probation for trying to murdle police in Massachusetts checks out but surely they wouldn’t not even make him do that?
But the Marine? Outstanding. Out there literally saving lives.
As a rule of thumb, you can multiply most any state sentence by a half, sometimes even a third, to project actual time served. Good time adds up fast.
The judge/judicial system that let this FINE UPSTANDING CITIZEN (/s) out of prison needs to be arrested and imprisoned right alongside the shooter, for the same amount of time, no early release.
That pic reminds me; I have two Caniks: the TP9SFx and the TP9SA. I didn’t even think about those when deciding which gun to carry for my job. Maybe I have too many guns? Nah…
As for the sentence in the story, or lack thereof, it’s amazing how bad our “justice” system is at both math and English. A six-year sentence probably was halved for “good behavior” (essentially, just not committing more crimes in prison). The guy that burgled my house just before I deployed to Afghanistan should have still been in prison for drug and firearm convictions. Instead, he was free to commit more crimes. He was sentenced to 13 years for breaking into my house and stealing over $10k in stuff, including guns. Reading the fine print, though, those 13 years consisted of only three years’ incarceration (likely with the requisite time off for “good behavior”) and 10 years’ probation. I stopped bothering to look him up a few years back, though I did receive a restitution check for $500 a year or two ago, much to my surprise. When I was delving into his past after his arrest, I found that one of his sons had robbed a store between Ellabell and Pembroke, GA a few years previously. The clerk shot the kid, and he bled out in a ditch on his 16th birthday.
I have their SFX Rival – S. It is pretty heavy, especially with a sight; but it is a great shooter. Reminds me of what Colt used to be years ago when they made quality pistols.
I suppose the Gold Cup Trophy is a good pistol but it is $700 more for 115 year old design. Some things have improved since then.
I too am a Canik fan…TP9-SFX and then a METE TP9-SFT. The are part of my 3 EDCs. I switch out from time to time.
The were competition ready out of the box and some of the best guns I own. Never a problem.
The 3rd one I carry is a CZ P-10C…I like that because it has a lighter Spring andalso, runs like a charm. I pray the only place I ever have to pull it is at the range and kill paper people.
