Elon Musk and Senator Mike Lee, Republican from Utah, are interested in checking the gold reserves at Fort Knox. Musk expressed interest in doing a video walk through. Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and Senator Mike Lee (R_UT) are demanding access to Fort Knox in order to examine the reserves of gold the country keeps stored there.
On Monday, Musk said it would be “cool to do a live video walkthrough of Fort Knox.”
Lee responded, and said that he has tried “repeatedly” to get into the Kentucky fort, being told by officials at the fort, “you can’t come to Fort Knox.” When pressed for why he couldn’t go, he recounted that he was told, “It’s a military installation.” When Lee noted that as a Senator, he has visited military bases “all the time,” Lee said officials denied him entry, saying, “You still can’t come. Because, you can’t.”
In response, Musk told Lee, “Who is confirming that gold wasn’t stolen from Fort Knox? Maybe it’s there, maybe it’s not. That gold is owned by the American public! We want to know if it’s still there.”
Kentucky’s Fort Knox is the location of the United States Bullion Depository which stores precious metal bullion reserves for the US. According to US Mint, “no visitors are permitted in the facility.”

A long, long time ago I worked for a somewhat prominent bank in Maryland as a floating manager. Whenever I showed up I counted the vault before accepting the branch.
On one occasion the head teller objected saying that it would take too long. Nonetheless, I prevailed upon them and the first I noticed was pallets of coins which is not uncommon for branches with commercial accounts like grocery and retail stores. What was not common was for there to be dust on the boxes.
So, I decided to open the boxes… you’d have thought I was trying to hold the head teller hostage! She didn’t have a hissy but she was in a pique of displeasure.
The branch was short on cases of quarters amounting to just under $20,000.
Curiously, the regional manager took over the matter and it “quietly attended to”, at that time.
Later I read that the head teller had admitted to stealing the money and she made full restitution.
Yep, Elon and the boys had better bring some scales and reagents to count the Vault and test the metals.
They’ll probably find a lot of dust in the vaults…and it won’t be gold dust.

A number of military installations require an approved VAR (Visitor Access Request) and won’t take tourists. His liaison should have made the appropriate requests and filled out the paperwork. Showing up out of the blue was certain to get this type of response.

I predict they find less gold than is supposed to be there, but also find-in the innermost sanctum-, the Epstein files. As long as they release ‘em, I’m okay with a couple gold bars missing. (After all, they just need to return them from a certain (D) Senator’s evidence file.)
I hope when the DOGE auditors show up at federal agencies, they leave a phone number where employees can make a covert call or set up a meeting. The GS 12s and 13s know where the dirt is, and some are willing to talk. Like when William Perry (not the Fridge) was Secretary of Defense he would meet with the E-9s. No officers allowed- this is where he said he got the true picture.
