US to send troops and missile system to Israel

A U.S. Army Terminal High Altitude Area Defense battery, and the troops needed to operate this system, will be sent to Israel. Iran issued a warning on X when they heard that the US was considering this option. Major General Pat Ryder, spokesman for the Pentagon, said that this deployment underscores America’s ironclad commitment to Israel’s defense.

From The Associated Press:

Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin authorized the deployment of the THAAD battery at the direction of President Joe Biden. He said the system will help bolster Israel’s air defenses following Iran’s ballistic missile attacks on Israel in April and October.

The delivery of the sophisticated missile defense system risks further inflaming the conflict in the Middle East despite widespread diplomatic efforts to avoid an all-out war. The Iranian warning came in a post on the social platform X long associated with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who noted the earlier reports that the U.S. was considering the deployment.

Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon have been clashing since Oct. 8, 2023, when the Lebanese militant group began firing rockets over the border in support of its ally Hamas in Gaza. Late last month, Israel launched a ground invasion into Lebanon.

Israel is widely believed to be preparing a military response to Iran’s Oct. 1 attack when it fired roughly 180 missiles into Israel.

In a brief exchange with reporters before leaving Florida on Sunday, Biden said he agreed to deploy the THAAD battery “to defend Israel.” Biden spoke at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa after making a quick visit to to [sic] see the damage caused by Hurricane Milton and meet with first responders, residents and local leaders.

Still trying to figure out why it is so important to “defend Israel” but it is not important to defend the US. Seems as if we need to have those missile units covering our air space. You know, just in case some one wants to fly drones and what not.

Roh-Dog

And when one’v the Mad Mullahs’ NOE drones goes up the ass of our SMs’ chowhall, will there be calls to end the illegal occupations and interventions?

Crickets from the bulk of my countymen for want of pumpkin spice ballots and gender fluid warmongers’ profits.

Hate to say it but I’m starting to think we deserve this for ignoring the plank in our eye.

Wow, incredible timing. Just in time for the 41st Anniversary.

I’m sure there is a section working somewhere to design the next batch of campaign and service medals. We’ll need at least two: one for Israel and the Middle East, and one for Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Maybe we’ll finally exhaust the supply of WWII-era Purple Hearts in another decade or two, if the Dems have their way.

Meanwhile, we have drones flying uncontested over “secure” areas, unmanageable numbers of criminals crossing our southern border (they’re all criminals for entering illegally), and a military led by morons and increasingly filled by those who not too long ago would be considered wholly unqualified for military service.

For about 10 years now, the US military has spoiled many troops with “deployments” to friendly nations in the Pacific and Europe, while the expectation of actually having to go to war has dwindled. If they think recruiting and retention are hurting now, wait until we’re back in two combat theaters with constant rotations.
