Suspect killed in attempted Brink’s Truck robbery in Whitsett

WHITSETT, N.C. (WGHP) — A suspected robber is dead after an attempted robbery of a Brink’s Armored Truck on Tuesday morning, according to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office.At around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, deputies came to the parking lot of the Stoney Creek Village shopping center on 6307 Burlington Road in Whitsett after getting a report of an attempted robbery of a Brink’s truck.
While deputies were on their way to the scene they learned that a shooting had occurred.
At the scene, investigators found the suspected armed robber dead from a gunshot wound.
The sheriff’s office says the attempted robbery and subsequent fatal shooting was an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the community.

‘I just went into action’: CCL holder shoots intruder trying to climb through daughter’s window in South Shore

CHICAGO – A woman said she jumped into action Saturday night to protect her children as a man allegedly tried to break into their home in the city’s South Shore neighborhood.According to the Chicago Police Department, officers responded to a report of a person shot around 10:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of East 69th Street. They found a man, initially believed to be the victim of a shooting, with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Investigators quickly learned the man had allegedly tried to break into a nearby home and was shot by a woman who is a Concealed Carry License (CCL) holder.

-the robber selected the wrong truck, at the wrong time.
Prob’ly trying to hold up the courier in transfer.
Knew it to happen in Houston 30+ years ago, started seeing a wisp of a young lady guard with a pistol-grip .410 hanging from her Sam Browne belt shortly after. IIRC it was a single shot, too. Dunno what kind of deterrent it was, but it may have been more for her feeling of safety anyway.
May not be the baddest round around, but with muzzle velocity of 1200fps and a nominal 1/2 oz. load (call it 217 grains) – she was well into .357 energy levels. I sure as hell would not want to get hit with it.
