Rancho Bernardo jewelry store owner stops smash-and-grab robbery
“I never thought it would happen to us, but I don’t carry Rolex. I do not carry high-end things. We’re just a small mom-and-pop place,” Rose Zarrabi said

It happened just before 5 p.m. at KZ Jewelry Designs. NBC 7’s Dave Summers spoke with the owner about this terrifying encounter.A jewelry store owner took matters into his own hands to stop a smash-and-grab robbery Tuesday in Rancho Bernardo.
The incident happened just before 5 p.m. at KZ Jewelry Designs in the Rancho Bernardo Town Center.
In what is likely the best picture police have of the would-be robber, the suspect, who is thought to be a man, is in a bucket hat, masked and wearing all black except for his red gloves.
“He would have cleared us out if we wouldn’t have done anything. He was not afraid. It was weird,” owner Rose Zarrabi said.
She was still shaken three hours afterward. She and her husband, Kamyar, have owned and operated the jewelry store for more than 10 years.
The Zarrabi’s say detectives told them that this was not a random smash-and-grab and that the suspect had likely been in the store before. He came covered head-to-toe, hammer in hand, and without a word, walked into the shop and began smashing cases.
Rose took photos from the security camera video inside the store.
“When I yelled stop, he looked at me and then bash. Like he didn’t care,” Rose said.
With a ball-peen hammer left behind, the pictures show the suspect going from display case to display case, smashing the glass and grabbing the merchandise. The robber did not even use a bag. He just hugged the jewelry to his chest.
“I’ve heard of smash-and-grabs. I never thought it would happen to us, but I don’t carry Rolex. I do not carry high-end things. We’re just a small mom-and-pop place,” Rose said.
The suspect might have gotten away with it, too, if Rose’s husband hadn’t fired a warning shot into the ceiling from a handgun he kept around for protection.
“I believe that he was under duress at that time, and so he did what he felt was necessary to keep his wife safe,” Sgt. Christopher Harrison from the San Diego Police Department said.
“The guy stopped, dropped everything and took off running. There was jewelry scattered everywhere and glass,“ Rose said.

Its Gav’s Kalifornia- I’ll call this a good shoot in that the victim isn’t in jail. Yet anyway.
Dispute at Circle K in Bossier City leaves one shot in pelvis, another shot in foot
By Amia Lewis
BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) – A man is recovering after getting shot in the pelvic area Tuesday evening (Aug. 20).At about 6 p.m., Bossier City Police were dispatched to 2470 Barksdale Blvd in regard to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a 32-year-old Black man suffering from a gunshot wound to the pelvic region, according to officials. Through an investigation, Bossier City violent crimes unit detectives discovered there was a verbal dispute between the victim and the suspect, later identified Lamont Heyward, 47. After the argument, Heyward shot the victim, who then returned gunfire in self-defense and shot Heyward in the foot.
Heyward then fled the scene in a silver car.
After a warrant was filed on charges of attempted 2nd degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm, he was found and arrested.

Looking at Circle K in a whole new light. The same one as self-storage facilities and ATMs. Thanks, Gun Bunny.
If you kill enough of them, they stop fighting.

Thieves seem to be getting bolder and bolder, especially in CA. I wonder why that is…🤔 The store owners might not consider their jewelry to be high-end, but free is free. Grab enough $50 necklaces and $25 bracelets, and you’ve got a supply of whatever it is you want that might last a few days.
Louisiana now has constitutional carry, so hopefully the victim in the second story was taking advantage of that (or has his CHP). Circle Ks around my area are mostly clean and safe, but I can’t say the same for most of those in Baton Rouge. I steer clear of all of them, for the most part. The Racetracs have better grab-and-go food, and the mom-and-pops down here almost always have a hot food bar full of greasy delicacies. I’ve taken to just hitting up Sam’s Club or the local Murphy Express for gas.
The 4 star that demanded his LTC gal friend get a job is back.
And he says “datz razzzist”.
And he says “Datz Razzist:.
Too bad the jewelry store owner didn’t shoot that one round center mass into the perp’s chest. Would have given he perp a reminder to carry around with him, “ouch! that hurts! don’t do that again!”
Buuut, again, it’s Gruesome Newsom’s Kalifornication, so maybe the store owner did the right thing after all.
Yep…a shot INTO the head instead of into the overhead ceiling would have gone a long way toward showing (a) don’t take a hammer (ball peen) to a gun fight and (b) don’t steal.
Circle K C-Stores are turning in to O K Corrals. Appears to be a certain demographic that we need to apply Gnrl LeMay’s words of wisdom to.
Little Crappy Pistol? YMMV
Circle K Corrals. YEEEEEHAW!
I always find it amusing that gun writers talk about how groundbreaking the LCP was when the KelTec P3AT came out several years earlier.
KelTec P-32 and P-3AT just work. Locked breech, thus much easier for smaller-statured folk to work the slide, plus lower recoil. Slim, discreet, pocket-sized insurance.
Hack stays away from the Pelvic area. Some pretty shady shit going on there, enter at your own risk.
Warning shots are best when they’re center of mass.
A warning to the others.
