He said he heard a noise and rushed outside. He said he yelled at the group and warned them to stop or he would shoot.

I looked up Winnetka for a little background info: Winnetka, Illinois – Wikipedia. It’s one of the wealthiest places in the US and about 90% White. This creates a dilemma for our modern “news” spinsters. On the one hand, you have what is most likely a wealthy White Democrat voter/donor. On the other hand, you have what are most likely hoods from the inner city. Both are protected classes in many parts of America. While the homeowner should be given kudos for owning a gun, he should be required to take some courses to learn how to effectively use it. If he has any free thought of his own, he should reconsider his political alignment (again, assuming he’s a Dem). If it can happen in his neighborhood, it can happen anywhere.
Speaking of which, how much differently would this have been reported if it took place in a trailer park? “The resident told WGN News that the people first broke into his shed, took keys and started his 1986 Fiero and 1990 Ranger. He said one of the vehicles was at the end of the gravel and the other was still on jack stands, which the group was unable to remove.”
I forgot about the bag that the 10/22 Takedown comes with. It’s not bad for a freebie. My PC Carbine is a takedown model (I believe most, if not all, are), so I bought the Cabela’s MSR case, which fits it almost perfectly when broken down. I fitted the carbine with the Glock magwell, and plan to keep it in my vehicle along with the G17 when I’m travelling. I like to feel prepared and have at least seven 17-round and two 33-round mags for a minimum 185-round basic load, on top of whatever I’m carrying and whatever else is in the truck (usually the trusty old Winchester 1200 Riot for road trips and one or four more handguns…maybe an AR for good measure).
“I like to feel prepared …..for good measure..” Heh heh. Better to have and not need than to need and not have. I’ve made mention several times on the whole “Prepare” thing and how sometimes my escort duties require me to go thru sketchy areas that one may want to have a re-enforced Rifle Squad. Hell, fm2176, you ARE a re-enforced Rifle Squad with that kind of load out. *grin*
Citizen needs a little range time. When the odds are 3 to 1 the only warning they would get is when one of their heads exploded.
Vlad is grinning over what is happening today.
Our Beloved AW1Ed dangling that bait in front of his Gun Bunny, leading the Gun Bunny into temptation. I’m touched that ‘Ed is concerned about the swelling in my wallet and wants to help relieve said swelling.
I’ve wrestled with the idea of how to pack a shotgun and/or rifle in my motor vehicle so that it is quickly accessible to me but not to the unauthorized.
I have to think about that even more in context of going onto prison grounds where the ‘residents’ are past-masters at getting into vehicles and obtaining things illicitly.
Haven’t come up with an option that fits my wallet yet, though.
You know what they say, cheap, fast, reliable; pick two.
When I was kid some of the state police cruisers had a
shotgun mounted across the dash while others had it
mounted standing up on the transmission hump and held
clamped to the dash.
Don’t know about unauthorized access.
“ I like to feel prepared…”
For what? An invasion of the Mongol hoard? A pillage of Vikings? A stack of FiBbIes?

RE: the Ruger 10/22;
The Author of the article (Foghorn) bitches & moans about cleaning the rifle…
(“First was that it was a pain to clean. The design of the 10/22’s receiver is such that disassembling it for a thorough cleaning isn’t really a viable option. “)
Since this article was written in 2013, I hope that Foghorn has kept up with the times and sees that there are upgrades, replacements and modifications for the 10/22 receiver that make it a lot easier to clean.
I can’t find the original article that I’d read lo, several years ago, a shooter in Europe (Germany? Scandinavia?) that had the same complaint about cleaning, and engineered and milled his own 10/22 receiver with a slide off top (to more easily remove the bolt), and a hole in the rear for a cleaning rod. I do remember it was pricey at the time but then again, he was building these one-by-one in a small workshop.
I found one through Brownell that looks close enough to what I remember. I hope that the European dude was able to license his design and is receiving royalties.
https://www.brownells.com/gun-parts/rifle-parts/rifle-receivers-parts/opentop-1122-stripped-takedown-receiver-for-ruger-1022/
And there are other sites with modifications on where to drill-it-yourself to allow access to a cleaning rod from the rear. I leave it to the readers to do their own further research.
Let’s see, Bore Snake a couple of times, spray the CLP or WD40 up into the receiver and swab it out with a microfiber towel. Wipe down the bolt assembly and you’re done. If it takes more than 15 minutes You are doing it wrong.
That’s probably correct. The only problem I have with my 1022 is some of the pins are not terribly tight due to the machining probably and when I turn it on its side to pull the trigger assembly in the bolt out, I have to keep my hands behind them until the tension is on them to keep them from sliding out..
Because I have the takedown, Bore snake A few times, CLP, Brushing out the receiver area and wiping it down with some cotton cloth patches, I can clean that thing in like 10 minutes tops.
I’m shocked someone in Winnetka has a gun. In addition to being one of the wealthiest towns, it is also where the term Limo Liberal is seen as a badge of honor.
Shit man, they weren’t jacking that shit. They were “repoing” it.
Motherfucker probably fell behind on payments. Bet the Homeboy be frontin’ on all his bills, to boot.
We got a goldmine in today… A Winchester 1300 Defender with dual pistol grips. Okay, I’m being facetious as hell, but my brother had an identical shotgun back in the ’90s before he methed around and cracked up. We also got a couple of vintage guns, including a Ted Williams 3T and Topper, Jr.
I may buy the 1300 once it’s up for sale. The Blue Book value is fairly low, so the store’s price will be $200. I’ll do the paperwork on the M&P-15 with EOTech in the next couple of weeks. Used guns are 10% off through June 16th, and I think the military discount (5%) can be stacked on, even if the employee discount (%7) can’t. Should be looking at under $570 out the door.
Is it just me or does anyone else detect an undercurrent tone of gloating here?
It sounds a lot like I figure phone sex sounds like, except he talks about firearms, which is always worth an up-doot.
Did you guys cover this?

Never happened. Bad things from failed border policies don’t exist in Biden’s America.
Literally not one single liberal news source covered it. It was just like the attack at Quantico. Never happened. Then they wonder why we don’t trust them. Covering shit up doesn’t work anymore.
Goat-f*ckers doing recon for the upcoming 843 (9/11 x 1000), Oct 7th 2.0 or whatever “The Event” is progressive elites think they can use as an excuse for their Great Reset/imposition of “Social Justice” upon unwashed “bitter clingers” (yes, your favorite sexual fantasy, we know) but will actually be sadistic terrorist f*ckers wasting large amounts of infrastructure and innocent people (to include lots of progressive left/libtard elites who’re degenerates and soft targets to ’em despite feeling like supporters) at either the direction of or just exploitation by the Chicoms (or Russia, Iran and other bad guys, maybe) to f*ck America over for their strategic interests (can you say “Pearl Harbor?” followed by another unexpected war.
At the very least, expect three days (72 hours) before first responders can even get out to your neighborhood when SHTF. Those “freedom fighters” for “social justice” will shoot you and your family (or worse) as their “great satan” enemy and won’t care that you sympathize with ’em. Hope you got ammo, canned food, water and gas on hand.
Much is at stake with Taiwan at the hand of Red China; don’t don’t for one second think they wouldn’t disrupt out sh*t in order to take Taiwan and defeat us as a superpower in one shot in order to assert their interests (which, like Japan thought too, might just get us into another unexpected major war):

Don’t know when this might happen and I hope it won’t, but things can’t go on they way they are forever. Something is going to occur and it’ll suck when it does. Somebody is going to f*ck with us. All those military age Chicoms (whom their gov’t knows and let them come over here to do that) ain’t just here to play patty-cake:
Yes, I went on and on in the first sentence. Something’s up, though.
Meanwhile, an original Gateway Pundit article (w/ cool links) about how “woke”-ness affects our ability to fight China in a shooting war:

It ain’t good, said impact… even if only taking taking time awsy from necessary readiness activities:
