Special Counsel Robert Hur provided testimony in the House regarding his report on Joe Biden’s keeping classified information. Hur insisted that Joe Biden willfully kept classified documents. He also contradicted claims that Joe Biden did not share these documents with others. Biden retained classified information as material for a book. According to the article, the book earned him $8 million. The ghostwriter for the book received classified information to help write this book. Hur also said that he did not see the evidence as being enough to establish a reasonable doubt.

Spokesman for the White House Counsel’s office Ian Sams wrote a letter to the White House Correspondents’ Association criticizing the media coverage of the special counsel’s conclusions, prior to Hur testifying.
Though the report said Biden “willfully” retained classified material, Sams stressed Hur concluded “that the evidence does not establish Mr. Biden’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.”
“We obtained evidence President Biden willfully retained classified information,” Hur said in his opening statement. The evidence includes recorded conversations with his ghostwriter where he shared classified information. However, Hur concluded the information was not enough to prove any violations beyond a reasonable doubt.
Yet, Hur appeared to confirm under questioning from Florida Republican Matt Gaetz, that President Biden lied when he told the press “I did not share classified information…I did not share it… I guarantee I did not.”
“That’s not true, is it Mr. Hur,” Gaetz asked.
“That is inconsistent with the findings based on the evidence in my report,” Hur replied.
“Yeah so it’s a lie, just what regular people might say,” Gaetz said. Hur did not give a verbal response, but appeared to laugh.

Declassification authority aside, Trump is wrong, and Biden is right. Hell, Trump’s classified documents could have held the secret recipes to KFC and Dr. Pepper, while Biden’s held the JFK assassination and plans for the Death Star, and Trump would still be in the wrong while Biden is completely innocent.

Many criminals cooperate once they’re caught as they are looking for a reduced sentence. Cooperation doesn’t negate the original crime, it simply is a consideration for a judge during sentencing should the case get to that point.

It says a lot that you do pieces like this but COMPLETELY ignore that Trump not only “retained” classified, he openly stole classified after he was no longer in office, refused to return it, said in interviews it was “his right” to take it and keep it, said in interviews he expected to be paid millions for it to be returned, obstructed Justice multiple times over 18 months while he claimed he didn’t have any…then tried to hide it when the FBI showed his lawyers evidence they knew he had it.
And to this day dozens of documents, including Iran war plans, they investigators can prove he took ARE STILL UNACCOUNTED FOR.
If Hur could prove his claims Biden would have been charged or Hur would have made it clear he could prove the allegations. Instead he makes claims not supported by the evidence transcripts of interviews.
Biden also willfully returned everything and did nothing to obstruct efforts to search for more.
I don’t think executive politicians and appointees should be given the double standard they are granted regarded unintended willful retention.
