Man shot to death during fight with homeowner in Hueytown

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A 42-year-old man was shot to death following a fight with a homeowner in Hueytown Monday morning.Contravia Lamond Jackson, 43, was shot in the 200 block of June Avenue in Hueytown at approximately 2:07 a.m. Monday. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the shooting happened during a “confrontation” with a homeowner.
No other details surrounding the shooting were released in the report and the Hueytown Police Department declined to comment on the case when reached for comment.

An early-morning shooting in Hueytown left one man dead.
Hueytown police were dispatched at 2 a.m. Monday to a home in the 200 block of June Avenue on a report of a person shot.Officers arrived to find the male dead in the front seat of a vehicle.
Police said the initial investigation indicates the sister of the resident of the home arrived at the house with two other males. At least one of the males brandished a gun and was shot by the homeowner.
Homeowner shoots home invasion suspect in Houma, police say
HOUMA, La. (WVUE) – Police are investigating a home invasion in Houma where the homeowner shot and injured one of the suspects.
According to Houma Police Chief Travis Theriot, the incident happened in the 300 block of Roberta Grove Boulevard on Feb. 20 around 5:15 a.m.
Chief Theriot says the homeowner told responding officers that he shot an alleged intruder in his home. He reportedly heard a noise coming from the first floor of his home and as he went down the stairs to investigate, he was confronted by the suspect and shot. The suspect fled.
Investigators were able to determine the suspect was injured in the shooting. Officers canvassed the neighborhood and identified the suspect as 34-year-old Dex Hebert.
Officers then went to the 1200 block of Gibb Street in an attempt to arrest Hebert. Upon arrival, a woman identified as 26-year-old Tye Corbitt exited the home armed with a handgun. She was taken into custody and reportedly told officers that Hebert was shot in the head and lying on the couch. Officers found Hebert hiding under a mattress and arrested him without incident, Theriot said.

Houma… I had to take our battalion’s rock wall down there for new self-belay cables years ago. Took a wrong turn into a private neighborhood that had “No Parking on Street” signs everywhere. Go figure, I get to a cul-de-sac with a grassy area in the center, basically a roundabout with one entry and exit. One of the homeowners (or maybe the HOA) had the center lined with some nice solar lights. But there were a couple of problems. One, I’m driving a long-bed 1-ton dually with a 40′ or so trailer. The other was that there were cars parked on the outside of the cul-de-sac in a manner that didn’t allow an optimal turning radius. I was exiting the cul-de-sac when an angry homeowner (incidentally one of those with a car on the street) came running out. I kept going, checking out the crushed lights in the rearview. For some reason the Recruiter in the trail vehicle called asking if he should stop to talk to the homeowner. Hell no! Nothing we can do, the mission is first, and if you want to keep your fancy decorations, maybe don’t park where you shouldn’t.
The second story… Gotta be methed up. Probably a couple looking for a fix, and what better way than to rob someone else. That cure little butterfly face tattoo is going to age gracefully, I’m sure. Sans tattoo and possible substance abuse issues, she’d probably be passably attractive. But you gotta watch them in the South. I watched a YouTube Short from JD Delay (convicted felon and former meth addict who’s now a recovery coach) about a Florida couple arrested for taking “Liberties with Lassie”. I looked up their Facebook accounts and it’s just plain sad, as they look like a normal young couple who just had a kid last year. But the meth adds up: “1+1*tweak=K9”.
When it’s time to shoot…shoot…don’t “brandish”. Claw, got us a whiz wheel score with a DAM multiplier?
