I have a classmate that is a retired fireman errr firefighter for the snowflakes. After his 25 years as city fireman, he got a job with county Public Works because you can’t collect retirement from one job while working another job with the city. He referred to his FF job as part-time work with full union benefits and retirement. His pension comes with a 3% raise for life. He usually worked 24 on 48 off with variations, and he worked in a body shop during his off hours. You’re not getting that at a local burger joint. Granted fighting fires is dangerous, but have seen the chaos out your local Mickey D’s lately. Almost forgot, that he’ll get his county pension on top of his city pension. Well played my friend, well played.

Very well played. However, today’s worker only sees “what’s in it for me right now, I’m entitled to it”. Your friend is a long-term thinker and planner, no entitlement mentality. They’re not about to risk their ass for the same amount that flipping burgers pays. See also: “Military Recruiting Shortfalls”.

The lower per hour pay is standard for fire fighting.

You normally work 24 hours then get two or three days off (48/72hours).

While working you are allowed to sleep, eat, watch tv. You are expected to train for an hour or two to include physical fitness. The rest is waiting.

Because you work 24 hour shifts the Fed gov exempts you from the 40 hour OT rule and sets it at OT at 96 hours in three weeks.

At $16 an hour 24 hr that is a budgeted $51k in pay, while the $22 is a budgeted $45k. (Still too high)

I’m hoping they point to things in the next negotiation the union does.

It’s clear that they are coming after our children. Who are they? In simple terms, the groomers, deviants, and mentally ill, who seek some sort of validation for their shortcomings and sick fantasies. In more global terms, those who wish to manipulate the former to help further weaken Western societies. A weak society is a compliant one. We grown-ass adults simply think too much. We see children as being little people to be safeguarded against evil. We see through the transgenda and the race baiting that is supported by many political, business, celebrity, and media entities. We’ve seen an America that was as strong and united as it ever was before the current socio-political movements started tearing it down. As a kid growing up in the ’80s and early ’90s, I didn’t really see color or any other physical characteristics. My friends and other who I associated with were chosen because we got along and liked each other. If a guy was darker than me, or acted effeminate, so be it. Now, though, I need to be reminded of my supposed White Guilt and have the entire LBGTQIA2++MAPPOCFJB agenda tossed down my throat. If I gag, well, I’m a literal transphobic racist.

Children are easier to influence. What better way to “educate” the children of “extremists” like me than to ensure they are subjected to brainwashing during the 6-8 hours a day they spend in public schools. As the younger generations grow into their college years, the ones that drank the Woke Kool-Aid go off to liberal colleges to secure their groupthink mentalities. Then, many of those go back into the public secondary and especially primary school systems to keep the cycle flowing.

This probably started before then, but the “counterculture” movements of the ’60s produced the grandfathers of today’s little Socialist Wokesters. They did their time as “activists” before going on to largely become the so-called intelligentsia of the ’80s through today. We see a repeat of their generation in today’s public schools, albeit at a much lower level. While their predecessors inserted their ideas into colleges and universities after earning graduate and doctoral level degrees, their former students now venture forth with an undergraduate degree to take a job indoctrinating the youth of today. Meanwhile, traditional hard-working Americans like me go to work to pay the teachers’ salaries while our children are fed to the wolves.

Testify…all of the above. Well, maybe not ALL of us Grandfathers are allowing the Grand Kids to become little Wokesters, leastways we’re trying hard to to. The struggle is real. ‘specially when the kids are 400 miles away and subject to the public school system.

“As a kid growing up in the ’80s and early ’90s…” Same with me in the 50s and 60s…in the South during the supposed segregation period. Goes back to home training. Treat people with respect, take personal responsibility, and apply oneself to become a productive member of society. That is no longer taught, or expected.

Oh, I hear ya. When I got to college in the late-’80s, such BS was culturally entrenched and you caught sh*t for not going along with that get along.

Personal responsibility and being able to do stuff for yourself was horrible-bad and got “gatekeepers” who could affect your future angry. One was supposed to have selfish, impulsive and loudmouthed “poh-tential” (labile affect and no grasp of consequences was “authentic” or something) or have nothing to offer. Everything was “person-centered” as the desired norm and sh*t else existed.

Manners and being considerate of other people meant one “hadn’t separated from parents” as a mama’s boy loser. (Goofus, a man going places; Gallant, sucks it.) Having life experience before college (not to mention anything real-world that’d get folk there dead, or at least make its “new things and experiences” not new) eliminated ability to amount to anything in life and got seen as a reason for condescending empathy. (Gimme a little credit, mo’f*cker.)

“Some people don’t belong in college,” I got told: “You should be realistic about what you want to do in life,” like drop out and work at BK. (“You’re an adult,” my friends said: “There’s nothing here for you.”) Graduated in three years w/ honors after study overseas. Got kicked out of a job interview (hands laid on me) to “What’s wrong, didn’t you like school?!” after the interviewer read that (I didn’t say sh*t) on my resumé.

This here is what progressives (a helpless citizen is a good citizen) absolutely don’t what to see developed in people:
