UPDATE: Brinks guard shoots robbery suspect at area Walgreens, CPD seeking second suspect
Chattanooga police are investigating after an attempted robbery on East Brainerd Road ended with the suspect being shot on Tuesday.
It happened around 10:40am at the Walgreens next to Publix in the 8700 block of East Brainerd Road.
CPD spokesperson Sgt. Victor Miller says the suspect, 30-year-old Kodi Johnson, approached an armed guard from Brinks as he was leaving the pharmacy chain with a bag of money.
Police say Johnson demanded the guard give him the bag of money while pointing a gun at the guard.
Police say the guard shot Johnson twice, sending him to the ground.
Police say Johnson eventually stood up and left the scene in a getaway car that was driven by an unidentified person.

Man killed in Peoria robbery gone wrong, police say

PEORIA — An attempted Facebook Marketplace robbery setup gone wrong led to the death of an 18-year-old Monday night, according to Peoria police.Marcus Whitehead, 18, of Bloomington, suffered multiple gunshot wounds Monday night on the 2100 block of West Lincoln Avenue while he and others allegedly attempted to rob someone they purportedly set up on Facebook Marketplace.
Police say two people from outside of Peoria came into town Monday night to meet up about a vehicle for sale on Facebook Marketplace.
Instead of finding a vehicle for sale, the duo was directed into an alley, where a group of people, including Whitehead, attempted to rob them, police believe.
