The bad karma of VoteVets

| October 23, 2009

Dicksmith wrote in VetsVoicea bit about the new Obama foreign policy of openness and willingness to deal with Iran and how we’re reaping the rewards of having unicorns, fairies and other magical beasts in the White House, linking to this NYT article. He also used the opportunity to swipe at the Bush Administration.

After nine months of an Obama Presidency, Iran has agreed to put their nuclear problem on hold for at least a year to engage in the diplomatic process. Previously, Iran spent eight years thumbing its nose at the international community while the Bush Administration engaged them with a strategy of “ignore it now, and decide whether or not to bomb it later”. This is how the world can work when you have American leadership that doesn’t engage in first-grade playground diplomacy (“You’re not my friend so I’m not talking to you anymore!”).

That was yesterday. This is today (from Fox News Channel);

State TV says Iran wants to buy nuclear fuel it needs for a research reactor rather than accept a U.N.-drafted plan to ship much of its uranium to Russia for further enrichment.

“Iran is interested in buying fuel for the Tehran research reactor within the framework of a clear proposal … we are waiting for the other party’s constructive and trust-building response,” Iranian TV quoted a member of Iran’s negotiating team as saying, Reuters reports.

Iran’s response will come as a disappointment to the U.S., Russia and France, which all endorsed the U.N. plan Friday that called for Iran to ship its uranium stockpile to Russia rather than continue what is believed to be an weapons-grade enrichment program. The three countries formulated the draft plan in three days of talks with Iran in Vienna that ended Wednesday.

Dicksmith, karma is a stone-cold bitch. Next time don’t gloat and she won’t be so tough on you.

Bah, the “diplomatic process” Smith was gloating over was a load of crap even before it fell through. The plan was for Iran to send three quarters of its current stockpiles of enriched uranium (apparently stalled below the 5% level) to Russia to be enriched further, and returned to Iran, supposedly for use in a medical research reactor (requiring 6-18%, depending on the particular use),getting it that much closer to the critical 20% mark. In exchange, Iran gives us… nothing.

The morons supporting the deal seem to be claiming victory because Iran won’t have the nuclear material while it’s being enriched. Brilliant, I know. Iran gets to focus more on their missile tech while Russia enriches the uranium for them, bypassing a technological stumbling block in the way of reaching weapons-grade, but this is somehow a diplomatic victory. This deal going south seems like a good thing to me.

So, will the 0’s new BFF’s be doing the reprocessing, or maybe the Chinese? Just wondering, but either way, I agree with Cortillaen, this whole “diplomacy” thing was crap from the beginning.

Dickhead……..I mean smith is just one o the useful idiots that haven’t figured out that Iran, as well as most bad guys, will go along with you as long as it is to their advantage. Once they see a break in the barrier, they will take it. Just as the Palestinians would be getting their ass kicked by Israel and then agree to talk and have the rest of the useful idiots force Israel to accept that and stop their counter-attack. The whole purpose was to give the Palestinians time to re-group and re-arm for another attack against Israel. The useful idiots (UN and most every other country) fall for it every time, because the bad guys know that all they have to do is appear to want peace and the dumbasses fall all over themselves to crow about “peace”, when it’s all bullshit and we end up back a square one.

Same will happen with Iran, since we have been holding “talks” with them; how much has been accomplished over when Bush was in office? That would be nothing. So……..what’s the point?
