by Alex Lloyd Gross
Philadelphia Police said that an unidentified black male, approximate age 18-22 allegedly attempted to carjack a vehicle early this morning on the 1400 block of South Water Street, in South Philadelphia. He did not expect the vehicle owner, a 38 tear old male to be carrying a gun. The car jacker was shot one time in the abdomen and was pronounced on the scene by medics.

The victim selection skills learning curve is steep. Thanks Gun Bunny.
I’d rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University.

Guy’s mom should have moved him to his auntie’s and uncle’s place in Bel-Air. The future doctor and football star met his fate a few days ago, so I guess you can say that Prince ain’t so Fresh anymore…
Rest in Peace, Marauder.

“shot one time in the abdomen”
Gut shot. That’s gutta hurt.
Probably got the artery.
Sooooo…..if the perp only ALLEGEDLY attempted to carjack a vehicle, was he also only ALLEGEDLY shot, and is he only ALLEGEDLY dead?
Inquiring minds……

After 40-50-60 years, Buckley is still right on this one.
Things may have changed since I moved away, but 30 yrs ago, South Philly was predominantly Italian, with a strong mob presence. Given those realities, seems like a piss-poor place to try and carjack someone.. as they say, FA/FO
“ He did not expect the vehicle owner, a 38 tear old male to be carrying a gun.”
They never do. They should START getting to the point of expectation of an armed citizen. We’re tired of waiting minutes for the cops while seconds count.

I’m all about carrying and carried open from age 18 until I got my concealed carry permit. Nowadays, I see people open carrying and just think “you’re making yourself a target”. I guess another way to think about open carry is that you’re discouraging the average cowardly criminal from attempting to rob or otherwise victimize you.
The problem with big, Liberal-minded cities is that criminals are not only passively encouraged (through “equity”-based weak-on-crime prosecutors and judges) but also actively encouraged (through restrictive gun laws and those same prosecutors and judges being anti-gun) to be brazen in their activities.
Thuggish Ruggish gotta Glock, he’s gonna rock your world. You have your own Glock and some training, and he’s now the “victim”. You don’t have a Glock, then he’s got yo’ rock and all of your other material possessions, maybe even leaving you to bleed out on the sidewalk.
Safety Brief talking point: Don’t become a chalk figure.
“Allegedly”… ffs. I hope this incident was well-documented so the “38 tear (sic) old male” can escape the DA’s tyranny.
Stay strapped folks!

Write her a true story about your own Grant Teton fantasy regions and see if she’s in the mood to explore.
Anyone ever mention to you what “Grand Tetons” translates to?
Oui.

There are a few shootouts that have changed law enforcement training and equipment, this being one of them (and the North Hollywood shootout that took place nearly 11 years later being another).
In the military, we’re taught to establish fire superiority and to use violence of action when necessary (e.g., React to Close Ambush, where assaulting through the enemy is taught as opposed to attempting to break contact). While many of us are not necessarily fans of today’s FBI, seeing them more as political pawns that unnecessarily target innocent people, the actions of SA Mireles and his peers are admirable, and the loss of SAs Grogan and Dove tragic. We can’t forget that LE does serve a purpose, and that despite being easily weaponized by their political masters, even federal agencies have heroes among them.
