Clinton/Obama suddenly morph into pro-life zealots

No, I don’t really believe that.

First, yesterday we get Hillary who is, in Obama’s words “out there like she’s on the duck blind every Sunday. She’s packing a six-shooter.” Now both candidates are running away from their pro-abortion stances (Associated Press link);

“I believe that the potential for life begins at conception,” Clinton said. “I think abortion should remain legal, but it needs to be safe and rare.”

She suggested that women should have choices other than abortion and stated that she often felt God’s presence in her life.

[…]

“And those who are opposed to abortion, I think, should continue to be able to lawfully object and try to change the laws,” he argued.

The hard choice of abortion “is a woman’s responsibility,” Obama said while shirking from a question on when he thought life began. “This is something that I have not … come to a firm resolution on.”

In another AP article in the Wall Street Journal, Obama is a little more specific;

“This is something that I have not, I think, come to a firm resolution on. I think it’s very hard to know what that means, when life begins. Is it when a cell separates? Is it when the soul stirs? .. What I know, as I’ve said before, is that there is something extraordinarily powerful about potential life and that that has a moral weight to it that we take into consideration when we’re having these debates.”

If a Republican candidate ever suggested that life begins at conception or that abortion protesters have the right to legally protest, NARAL and NOW would come down on him/her like a ton of bricks for being anti-abortion whackos and accuse them of blowing up abortion clinics.

So why do the child murderers not fall on Obama and Clinton – well, because they don’t mean it and the pro-abortion organizations know it. Just like the Canadians knew not to get upset when the two Democrats attacked NAFTA. Just like the gun grabbers aren’t upset that Hillary is suddenly “Annie Oakley”.
