New speaker

| October 24, 2023

Well, we still have no Speaker of the House.

Blame it on Republican defectors. Blame it on weather. Doesn’t really matter. Until there is a Speaker, the House is more or less dead in the water.

It all started when the former speaker, Kevin McCarthy from California, was ousted. Since then we have watched two candidates, Steve Scalise from Louisiana, and Ohio’s Jim Jordan fail to garner the needed votes.

Now that Jordan has dropped out after three failed votes, we have a rogue’s gallery of pretenders to the throne.

The candidates are as follows:

• Tom Emmer, Minnesota

• Mike Johnson, Louisiana

• Jack Bergman, Michigan

• Gary Palmer, Alabama

• Byron Donalds, Florida

• Kevin Hern, Oklahoma

•Dan Meuser, Pennsylvania

• Austin Scott, Georgia

•Pete Sessions, Texas

On a national scale – who the heck are these guys? Bunch of has-beens and never-wases?  Yahoo News

I am hearing a familiar echo – remember Obamacare? The Republicans ran on an incessant drum-beat of “dump Obamacare”, until push came to shove and they had to present their idea of what should take its place. Crickets. Nothing. Not even ‘Go back to what we were doing before’. Zee-roh plan.

Now we have “dump the Speaker” (which they successfully did) and who is going to replace him? Who isn’t going to piss off the hard-core conservatives, Trumpers, neverTrumpers, or anyone else likely to have the critical votes? This isn’t a coherent political party, it’s a bloc of self-absorbed ideologists without the slightest thread of leadership in the whole damn group. Getting hard to support the party when the party spins like a golden retriever puppy chasing its own tail, only not as cute.

I remember when my dyed-in-the-wool yellow dog Democrat father-in-law refused to vote in 1980 – he wasn’t going to vote Reagan or Republican, but you could have dipped him in some serious fecal matter before he would have supported Carter after the draft-dodger amnesty thing. Let’s just say I understand his position much better now.

The Demonazis are marching in lockstep toward socialism and the stupid party can’t even get a Speaker elected.

God we are so screwed.

Odie

The bought and paid for Republicans are right there with them.

^THIS!^

Yep! The UniParty is alive and doing well, while We, The People fight back with memes. My own Kongress Krtitter (Scott) is the epitome of a sewer rat rino that only gets re-elected because a lot of folks hold their nose and vote for his azz just to keep a demonrat out of the seat. When someone else does try to run against him, the PAC $ from the UniParty, plus his spreading taxpayer $ money insures that he wins the nomination/primary. PHUQUE HEEM and his renaming destroying of history scalawag azz…sideways with a running, rusty, dull chainsaw.

Y’all ’bout ready for some torches, pitchforks, tar, feathers, rails? How about some hemp rope and lampposts? Pissed off JAL widebody driver?

Was’samatteryou? Are you not loving your chains, citizen?

I heard upChuck Schumer is requesting House Minority “Leader” Jeffries float an impeachment for TJ for crimes against Our Democracy®.

I’m McLoving the death of The Empire, the memes are lit!

Adm John Kirby was standing to the other side, and his look of embarrassment was priceless.

Roh-Dog

Watching Kirby stand next to Press Secretary Raggedy ‘Bride of Chucky’ Karine while forcing himself to give this turd of a misadministration a tongue bath has me wondering; How much did he sell his soul for? Or/and, What info do they have on him?

Odie

Tell us how you really feel. Don’t sugar coat it next time 😉

Republicans holding closed door secret voting for next speaker of the house is also a huge red flag. They can all say when SHTF I didn’t vote for him, and we would have no proof as to if they did/didn’t.

Sounds very 3rd world, Russia/china/dictator type stuff going on.

The problem isn’t the conservative wing of the party that ousted McCarthy for flat out failing to live up to the agreement he made to gain the speakership in the first place.

The problem is the “moderate” establishment GOP that is perfectly happy to be “Democrat-lite” if it means they get to keep their expense accounts and insider trading scams and reserved seats at the best restaurants.

I’m not completely enamored of some of the troublemakers in congress, but we need some troublemakers to stir the pot a bit if we’re going to have any hope of slowing the inevitable progression of our country into a bigger version of Venezuela.

Yes, an organized and single-minded GOP would be great, but not if it’s organized and single-minded toward the goal of maintaining their own power and influence and to hell with what the people that elected them want.

And this is the perfect time for a fight like this. Republicans have control of the house, but not the Senate so it’s not like they’re going to get anything real done anyway. Right now it’s all posturing and kabuki theater…so why not do a little disrupting?

It’s not the eight who voted to oust McCarthy who are the traitors…it’s the 20 or 25 who refuse to vote for a true conservative for speaker because it might impact their ability to continue enriching themselves at the public trough.

LC

Well, the front-runner for the party is out marveling out how he just realized the ‘U.S.’ spells ‘us’, so I gotta say, Republican congressfolk not being able to do the most basic thing necessary at this point is strangely and disappointingly on point.

If I had to guess, I’d say Sessions does alright in the voting, but I don’t know if I expect any to get a majority of Republicans, even, let alone get selected.

With a name like “Mike Johnson” you got half the vote right there.

Love how everyfreakingbody loves to tout ‘MuH dEmOcRaCy’ until it’s time to do ‘representative republic by democratic means’ things.

Do not fall into the trap of criticizing people with actual grievances, doing what they’re SWORN to do. The MSM is doing more than enough of that. It’s not pretty. It’s not clean. And it certainly has bad optics,… if you’re retarded.

Since these giant turds cannot do the ONE thing they MUST do (Art. 1, S. 2&8, aka write and pass a budget) they don’t get to govern.

Article I is a quick read, one thing presupposes the other:

Section 6: Rights and Disabilities of Members

The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.

(RTWT)

Without passing budgets and reigning in the influence, sought and unsought, I submit they are in fact in the Breach of [our] Peace, and that’s before we even discuss the implications repugnant to Our Rights vis-a-vis Abridgments of Freedom of Speech by way of collusion with bigtech, or infringements of TRTKABA.

They can not serve two masters. Corporations are handmaidens of their government. IT IS AN EMOLUMENT.

I’ve seen Bryon Donalds on some the news/opinion shows. Seems to represent conservative values.

Tom Emmer has floated to the top in secret vote.

A never Trumper asking Trump for an endorsement. At least Emmer is paying attention and realizing Trump endorsed candidates do better than non endorsed candidates.

I wonder what Emmer will promise to gain Trump’s support. Kinda funny for someone who isn’t a Trump fan having to ask someone he doesn’t like for a reference.

Bergman is ok. He wouldn’t be my first choice but he isn’t the worst choice.

Blaster

I’m almost ok with not having a speaker. Congress is not getting anything done right now, which translates into they ain’t Fn anything else up right now!
