Attempted armed robbery in Alpharetta thwarted by armed bystander
By Denise Dillon and FOX 5 Atlanta Digital Team
ALPHARETTA, Ga. – A quick draw at a fast-food restaurant as police say a bystander stepped in and shot a robber. Now, the police are waiting to book the suspect on some serious charges once they get out of the hospital.Police say a 57-year-old man tried to rob the manager at gunpoint, but a man who had just pulled in to order some food also had a gun.
“I’m glad somebody was there to help the people who could have been a victim,” said Shameerah Bates, one of the customers of the Zaxby’s restaurant located on Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta where the attempted armed robbery took place.
It was closing time on Sunday night. Police say as the manager was leaving, an armed man approached him in the parking lot and tried to rob him.
“An independent witness observed the robbery in process, and intervened in the robbery, and shot the suspect after the suspect pointed his firearm at the witness and the victim,” said Alpharetta Police Lt. Andrew Splawn.
Alpharetta Police raced to the restaurant and set up a perimeter.
Investigators say the man had run into the woods to try to get away.
Officers were eventually able to track him to his location. They found he had two bullet wounds to his leg.
He was rushed to the hospital, but when he gets out, the 57-year-old man will face a number of charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police say the bystander with the gun will not be charged.

Tungsten infused polymer….
I wonder what Gun Bunny will opine on this gun receiver material?
“Tis neither fish nor flesh nor fowl”
Warms the cockles of my old Black Irish Heart, Honored, and just as pleased as tickled pink punch that my opinion of the composition material making up the “Target Toy” Silly Sig is sought after, Tox. A dildo is infused with metal (motor/battery) and it works (I guess), but it is still a plasticized abomination before God and WomanKind. 🎶…ain’t nothing like the real thing, Baby…ain’t nothing like the real thing!🎶
BZ, Citizen. Classic example of why it is best to carry concealed…Everywhere.you.go!
Wonder why there’s not more people trying to flee the oppressive, racist, capitalist, US to get into the Utopia that Castro created?
We’ll give The Unknown Bystander a PASS at this station for only wounding the perp in the leg (x2).
Dark, poor lighting, a moving target, and having a live gun pointing back at you tends to throw one off a wee bit.
No further range time needed. (but recommended).
I wonder what Zaxby’s corporate policy is on management having a gun in the store?
If negative, will this particular manager ignore that policy anyway?
(if you carry concealed, who’s gonna know?)
Probably the same as most everywhere else that guns are too big a liability. Just give them the money and hope they don’t murder you. Drawing from the drop is problematic at best in any case.
He definitely wasn’t a ‘bystander” though.
Ok mr pedantic, how about byshooter then… 😉
Y’all play nice now.
*grin*
The drop….
Hand over, but “accidently” drop, a shiny money clip of cash. Just about any human, even feral, will watch it fall. Maybe even grab for it.
Surprise! Boom. (Or thud, if that is all you have.)
Yes, risky. It’s a gambit, not a guarantee. Helps to plan ot ahead of time and maybe practice.
Heh.
When asked, the lawyers are always goin to try to perswaid a corporation from allowing armed employees. Extra money spent on something that supposedly doesn’t happen very often.
I wonder at what point does corporate finally say enough robbery, we need to defend our earnings…and workers? For many of these companies they approach that point and simply close the store, instead of finding a way to make it more profitable while still defending itself…(i.e. arming its workers, and paying for classes on safe and lawful use)!
yes there are misspellings and typos, but apparently you must wait 30 minutes from typing it to fixing it or the “Posting too quick” police come out
I have run into that as well when posting from my phone.
Some little gremlin in the code I suspect.
Ahhhh….is THAT the clue? A 30 minute wait.
Not that anything I have to say is worth that long of a wait to make a correction. If I need to correct, I’ll just start over.
Is it just me or does the Sig Sauer P320 X5 Legion look like the Springfield Echelon with a $200 price bump…must be just me?!!
Due to ammo prices I’ve thought of moving to a P320. Availability of ammo, parts, and gear is a big plus in a Fertilizer/ Ventalator intersection scenario.
The P226 is attractive as well. Save for the initial outlay.
A suggestion for a cup rattle that may help you out, Graybeard. Start peddling some of them cakes that you make for your Trophy Bride Mrs. You’d have the cost of a P Series the FIRST (heh heh) Month. I’d be a steady customer.
I miss Thursdays are for cooking…and Ex-PH2.
