Obama Betrays Poland; Just as They Hoped For

| September 18, 2009

The recent administration decision to betray eastern Europe allies Poland and the Czech Republic is a catastrophe for American credibility in foreign relations all over the globe.

If you believe the White House spin that this new proposed system is even better, you are an idiot. Even if it is (and it isn’t) it was arranged not by dealing with a major Eastern European ally but by a drug deal with the mortal enemy for centuries of said ally.

Any leftists out there want to square that circle, feel free to try.

Ironically, the people of Poland wanted this…and wanted it in a big way.

19% of respondents in Poland support McCain while 65% support Obama.

The very same Polish newspapers that praised Obama’s European vacation as the second coming are now proclaiming that “America Betrayed Us”.

America didn’t betray you, the annointed one that you loved betrayed you.

Be careful what you ask for; you may get it. Ofcourse “The One” will come to your rescue when Putin decides to re-annex you…won’t he?

Holy crap! I thought the Poles had their ducks in line better than that. Or … is it that Obama is just the Jedi Master snake oil salesman of all time?

Ringo the Gringo

Poland, Israel, The Czech Republic, Honduras, Israel….Who’s next?

Did you read Caroline Glick today?

Until Obama came along, Israel could afford not to make too much of the fact that its enemies control the UN-led system of international institutions, because it could trust that the US would use its Security Council veto to prevent these forces from causing it any real harm. This is no longer the case. With the Obama administration fully on board the UN agenda, Israel and other threatened democracies like Honduras, Poland, the Czech Republic, South Korea and Japan will have to loudly proclaim the UN-based international system’s inherent moral, political and legal corruption and seek ways to undermine and weaken its power.”

Damn! How do I apply for Honduran citizenship??
‘Nuff said.

Old Tanker

How’s the hope and change working for you Poland??

Son of Chesty

I don’t disagree with what they did, but when Poland/Czech Rep asks for military training and help you have to abide and not neglect them. How do you leave two Eastern Euro countries in the dark?

Fred

I don’t know. I am still not buying into all of the Putin is taking over Eastern Europe talk yet. Not that that isn’t theoretically possible but from the looks of things, the number one threat to both Israel and European democracy happens to be our ally at the moment, or at least an ally in the eyes of Washington DC.

Bryan Pick

A poll or two showed that the Polish people support this move by a solid plurality. Not 65%, mind you… but 48% thought it was a good decision for Poland, 31% thought it was bad, and 21% were not sure.

Y’know, sometimes I see these things and think to myself, or aloud to my friends: “What if we just held a referendum in each country, asking if they thought our presence was a net positive or negative, and if they said Negative, we’d start packing our bags immediately? We take all of our troops, our nuclear umbrella and Navy, and all of our money, and we wave goodbye and let them discover what the world is like without us?”

Just think: no more politicians telling their people that they hate us, while they tacitly approve of our presence. No more subsidizing the defense of people who think that they don’t need to be defended.

If we’re really not needed, then great: we go home and save ourselves the cash and resentment. If it turns out that we are needed and the real bastards of the world pull out their long knives in our absence, a whole new generation gets a fresh outlook on those ugly imperial Americans.

I think that, sometimes.

Fred,

Here’s the thing about Russia. They don’t have to actually invade Poland, or the Czech Republic to bring them under the Bear’s paw. Europe is overwhelmingly dependent upon Russian oil and natural gas. Although they also buy some oil from the ME, the majority comes from Mother Russia.

Russia controlled all but one of the pipelines into Europe. The one she didn’t went through Georgia. Russia artificially created a “breakaway Republic” and invaded in order to secure all the pipelines. Just like the Germans and the “Polish Corridor”, the Sudetenland, etc.

Now Russia has an economic stranglehold on the delivery of natural gas and oil to Europe. As long as the US is in Europe, and as long as that missile sheild was going to be built, Russia could be kept at the bargaining table and would be hard pressed to flex it’s muscles.

However, with the BMDS not going in, and a reduction of US forces to support NATO, Russia can pretty much blackmail Europe. She already tried this the past two winters, shutting off natural gas in order to gain an increase in price and trade concessions from some countries, especially Latvia, Estonia, and Georgia.

Russia doesn’t need to invade. She can just shut off the gas and oil flow, and watch Europe freeze and starve to death.

We have imbeciles running our government.

Gotta wonder: Has that empty-suited, anti-American racist bigot every heard of Neville Chamberlain… or that phrase about failing to learn from history dooming us to repeat it?

There are a hundred different ways this COULD have been done. And NONE of them should have had the patena of selling out anyone.

Between the messiah’s policies and his rank political incompetence, I really fear for our survival as a Nation.

Sold the Poles out on the day the Soviets invaded during WWII? How’s that for sensitivity? Either Obama’s administration has no clue or a heavy ironic sense of humor.

What’s next? A low level flight of AF1 over Heroshima on a certain day this fall?

U[pNorth

Dutch, totally right, either no sense of irony, or the 0 and his minions are just totally, absolutely clueless about history.

OldCav–hell, until Friday, Pelosi hadn’t even heard ACORN was corrupt. What makes you think she (or Obama) would know something IMPORTANT like who Neville Chamberlain was and how he relates to what Carter the Younger is pulling? I swear, by the time 2012 gets here, we’ll WISH we had the kind of “misery index” numbers we had in 1979-80, the gas lines, the kick in the balls from every tinpot dictator, etc…
