Sex and the Military Friday

| July 14, 2023

Happy Bastille Day! And, as an ode to les Francais, what could be more French than illicit sex?

First off, the government had to pay a now-retired Army Colonel, Kathryn Spletstoser, almost $1,000,000 in compensation for the unwanted attentions of the AF general who became the Deputy Air Force Chief of Staff.

The settlement with the U.S. government ends more than four years of investigations, reviews and congressional digging into the matter, which delayed — but ultimately did not defeat — Hyten’s nomination for vice chairman in 2019. He served two years and did not seek a second term.

Army Col. Kathryn Spletstoser, who served as Hyten’s aide in 2017, filed the lawsuit, and in the settlement reached in U.S. District Court in California on Wednesday, the federal government will pay her $975,000.

In an interview with The Associated Press in 2019, Spletstoser said Hyten subjected her to a series of unwanted sexual advances by kissing, hugging and rubbing up against her in 2017 while she was one of his top aides. She said she repeatedly pushed him away and told him to stop, and that he tried to derail her military career after she rebuffed him.

Spletstoser’s attorney, Ariel Solomon, said in a statement Thursday that the legal payout “stands out as the only known settlement paid by the government for a sexual assault case brought against a member of the United States military.”   AP

At the time, investigators said there was not enough evidence to bring charges (nor that Spletstoser was lying.)  Hyten was confirmed, and served, his two-year deputy term.

.And a Coast Guard couple is leading a suit to get better access to porn channels in Louisiana.

Elizabeth Henson just moved to Louisiana in June with her husband, an active-duty Coast Guardsman. Like many couples, they watch pornography on major websites like Pornhub to keep the marriage spicy, sometimes together over the phone when her husband’s duties take him away from home.

“We’ll watch a video together on the phone, get some of that steam blown off and maintain that sense of intimacy,” Henson, who served a decade in the Coast Guard herself, told Military.com. “This is one of the ways that we can keep that intimacy alive in our marriage.”

In Louisiana, a state law passed in January requires users to verify their age on pornography sites using a driver’s license or other ID through a third-party government website to verify that the user is at least 18 years old.

The state’s law, which went into effect in January, aims to make it difficult for children to access pornography. In practice, it mostly impacts the top pornography sites, which are those most likely to worry about compliance, one being Canadian-owned Pornhub. The site is the 12th most visited in the U.S., with some metrics showing it outperforming Netflix and Amazon.

Utah, Mississippi and Virginia passed similar laws in recent months. Virginia has one of the largest military populations in the country. Pornhub has blocked access to its sites in all three of those states, saying they cannot comply with the law because the states do not have adequate digital verification in place.

Henson says that access to pornography websites is both helpful when her husband is away and when they are together “as part of date night.” She said she’s surprised that something that’s so intimate between her and her husband is being controlled by the state.

More hits than Amazon? Wow. Maybe I should have used these photos instead:

I’m told they are hot stars… for my money, I can see why. And y’all know I don’t favor blondes.

Flagwaver,
Some guys really believe that when they do this,
they are doing some kind of favor
for the less attractive females out there.

Then again, Gen. Hyten isn’t exactly stud muffins.

What movie was that, when “stud muffins” made its way into the lexicon?

rgr769

Yup, that was my first thought. Although “she” appears to have had that adam’s-apple surgery.

Friend

Honestly, I thought it the wrong photo…

Never be alone with a woman.

Only discussions are job related.

No after hours or non work discussions.

Prior Service

Agreed. But even doing so, I wound up subject to a false allegation and under investigation for four months. Fortunately the whole office knew the truth. Document every interaction.

Women wonder why men ghost the moment the woman plays hard to get. Well, this is why.

Call me old fashion, but if you NEED porn to keep your marriage alive then something is very wrong with your marriage.

Oh and by the way, Hyten, who at one time was my squadron CO as a LTC, was Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, not deputy AF Chief of Staff. He replaced Paul Selva in that role…his previous 4-star assignment was CINCSTRATCOM.

Sad day it was….

“SHE SAID, HE SAID – THE HYTEN vs. SPLETSTOSER CASE REVISITED. MARINE OFFICER CHIMES IN ABOUT ARMY COLONEL KATHRYN SPLETSTOSER WHICH CALLS HER CHARACTER INTO QUESTION”

https://militarycorruption.com/he-said-she-said/

“We received an email from a naval officer concerned that MilitaryCorruption.com was wading into the swampy water of “he said, she said” disputes. Unless you’re King Solomon, it’s difficult for anyone to figure out who is the real culprit in such situations.”

“Based on the wise counsel of this particular naval officer, we decided to take another look at the Hyten vs. Spletstoser case.”

“While General Hyten has a sordid past, it now turns out that Army Col. Kathryn Spletstoser apparently has a questionable past as well. She has a habit of exploiting the military system by taking full use of the “all women must be believed all the time” attitude in Washington.”

“Here was the email we received yesterday from a Marine officer…”

“I was Kathryn Spletstoser’s direct supervisor in the Pentagon for a year when I worked for Army General Ben Hodges.”

“When she left for Korea in 2011, she gave me a shout out at her farewell as the finest Marine she’d ever served with. Those accolades were short lived after I sat down with her concerning her officer efficiency report (OER).”

“After I went over her OER with her the following morning, she cried and stormed out of the room in a rage. Then she literally tried to “shoot” me as the messenger, since it was General Hodges’ who wrote the OER on her, not me.”

“In retaliation for the OER she received, Spletstoser immediately went to the Joint Staff IG’s office and filed a complaint, not against General Hodges, but against me for allegedly creating a “hostile work environment.” Can you believe that shit?”

Breaking the bad news to then Lieutenant Colonel Spletstoser that General Hodges was dissatisfied with certain aspects of her performance as an Army officer was considered by her as a “hostile work environment.”

“My thoughts on her… Kathy Spletstoser is a high-maintenance employee… I thought many times that I was dealing with a Lance Corporal, not a Lieutenant Colonel.”

“Spletstoser is cunning, conniving, manipulative, and always embellishing her own work, or trying to take credit for the work of others.”

“I caught Colonel Spletstoser in several lies. I wouldn’t trust her as far as I could throw her. Making up a story about General Hyten to bring attention to herself would not shock or surprise me at all.”

“A major investigation was initiated. Six months later those who investigated the matter concluded there was simply no basis for a complaint about a hostile work environment. Spletstoser caused a massive waste of time and money from filing a fraudulent complaint about a “hostile work environment.”

“I would caution anyone who believes anything coming out of her mouth. If her lips are moving, she’s probably lying and has no sense of honor or decency at all. General Hodges was right all along, and because she disagreed with the general’s assessment, she decided to stab me (the messenger) in the back.”

“It’s sad to know that one day she will receive an honorable discharge, because she is anything but honorable.”

“For the record, we know that a multitude of women have been abused by people… then by the system. Horrible atrocities have been committed against women, but now the tables have been turned. Horrible atrocities are being committed against men.”

“We refuse to believe all women all the time. There are those who pull down a bra strap and yell rape to destroy a man. One must be always on guard and not take things at face value from either the men or the women.”

Well, I am not surprised.

timactual

Makes me wonder how she got the favorable OERs from her previous commanders which got her to LTC. Doesn’t speak well of her former commanders.

A woman of my acquaintance, long ago, had a very forgiving husband. My date asked her why hubby was so tolerant of her myriad antics.

(Licking lips and smiling) “Chap-Stik covereth a multitude of sins.”

This may be a stupid question, but is that picture at the head of the article of the Colonel or of the General?
