First up is a bit too literal of an interpretation of my post title.
A Texas high school had to move its graduation because only 5 students were reportedly eligible to graduate
A high school in Marlin, Texas, postponed its graduation ceremony until June to allow students more time to reach graduation requirements.
According to CBS affiliate KWTX, 28 of 33 seniors at Marlin High School did not meet graduation requirements, and their attendance records and grades are to blame.
“The district has affirmed its commitment to providing necessary resources and support to students, and the new graduation date is seen as a testament to this commitment,” The Marlin Independent School District said in a press release.
The district said research has shown “regular school attendance is a powerful predictor of student success.” They recently moved to a four-day week in an effort to increase instruction and student engagement on the days when school is in session, while decreasing absences, according to the district’s Chief Academic Officer Nikisha Edwards.
On Wednesday, there was a mandatory meeting for parents of seniors.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Darryl Henson said in a statement that the school’s “commitment to excellence remains unshaken.”
“We hold firm to our belief that every student in Marlin ISD can and will achieve their potential,” he said. “Students will be held to the same high standard as any other student in Texas.”
Switched to a four day week because kids were skipping. They still couldn’t be bothered to show up enough to get that sheepskin participation trophy.

George Washington University announces new moniker after student backlash
The “extremely offensive” mascot of…*checks notes*…George Washington?
Out with the old, in with the new.
George Washington University changed its “Colonials” moniker to “Revolutionaries” after facing scrutiny from students who deemed the school’s mascot as offensive.
NBC anchor and alumnus Chuck Todd helped reveal the new name Wednesday, scrapping the former centuries-old Colonials name the school was under since 1926.
The school committee received 8,000 suggestions and 47,000 points of feedback, narrowing it all down to the final 10 names that best fit, the school said in a press release.
George Washington was pressured to come up with a plan to dispel the Colonials’ name in 2018.
More than 530 students objected to the “extremely offensive” Colonials moniker and claimed it “has too deep a connection colonization and glorifies the act of systemic oppression.”
The school, based in Washington, D.C., will implement the new name during the 2023-24 academic year.
“This is an exciting day for the George Washington University Revolutionaries,” President Mark S. Wrighton said.
“A moniker must unify our community, draw people together, and serve as a source of pride. We look forward to the next steps in an inclusive process to identify a moniker that fulfills this aspiration,” board chair Grace Speights announced when the school initially told students they would change their name.
Students, alumni, and professors were interviewed in the name-reveal video to give their take on the new mascot name and show their “Revolutionaries” spirit.
“I like Revolutionaries because it references George Washington in a positive way,” alumni Jake Sherman said.
“It alludes to the original foundation of our country, and it has a modern application as well,” graduate student Desiree Winns added.
“Revolutionaries are bold, they embody creativity and passion. Revolutionaries are change-makers, they’re not content with the status quo,” Professor Monica Ruiz proudly voiced.
George Washington University’s mascot, “George”, will still remain as the school’s mascot, the university website stated.
The term “revolutionary” is more problematic if you ask me. It’s been associated more with the communist movement than anything else over the last century. Some Most of those revolutionaries are horrible, evil people. See Guevara, Che, Stalin, Joseph, and Underground, Weather for examples. I’m sure the left-leaning if not outright Marxist people at GWU won’t see any negative connotations there.

Mankato man faces felony charges after house fire exposes drug operation
Fire safety is the cornerstone of any good drug operation.
A Mankato man faces felony drug charges after a house fire exposed a marijuana growing operation
According to a criminal complaint, firefighters were sent to a house fire and discovered a “marijuana grow” inside.
Mankato Public Safety and the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force (MRVDTF) assisted in a house search.
Authorities found four marijuana plants, grow tents & lights, an apparent drug ledger, and more, including other paraphernalia.
Authorities say that based on the evidence, Derek Ross Salberg, 42, was likely selling narcotics and cultivating marijuana.
In addition, according to the criminal complaint, Salberg unlawfully sold one or more mixtures of a total weight of ten grams or more, containing amphetamine, phencyclidine, or hallucinogens.
He was charged with first-degree sale of marijuana, second-degree possession of marijuana, and second-degree sale of drugs within 90 days.
Salberg’s bail was set at $50,000 without conditions.

Teacher fired for filming raunchy TikTok dances in classroom: report
Some people got a little too hot for teacher.
A dance-loving educator has reportedly been fired from her position for performing sexy dances with her students and posting videos on TikTok.
Cibelly Ferreira, who is Brazilian, has taught English all around the world, with her most recent class being taught at an unnamed language school, Milenio reported.
In a bid to engage her students, she began dancing with her pupils in the classroom.
“One of my students invited me to dance with him, and the class really enjoyed the interaction. After that, the other students began to ask questions, too, and I took advantage of the interaction and interest of the students to apply my classes with more quality, because the students are more interested and excited,” she said, according to Milenio.
“I know how difficult it is for younger students to focus their attention on teaching versus social networks and technology,” said Ferreira. “I can take advantage of their interest and bring them closer to teaching.”
Ferreira began posting videos of her classroom interactions along with videos of her after class on social media, where she has gathered 9.7 million followers on TikTok and 1.2 million followers on Instagram.
Her TikTok and Instagram pages are filled with a mix of videos of the young teacher swaying her hips and shaking her bum alongside her students in the classroom and posing alone outside the classroom in bathing suits and other outfits.
Along with her dance moves, Ferreira was also called out online for her classroom attire which includes crop tops or short and low-cut dresses.
While millions of people seem to like her content, others were disturbed by what they considered inappropriate behavior, which is reportedly why she was fired from her teaching post.
Her popular TikTok and Instagram accounts also aren’t the only social media pages she maintains.
It is unclear when the accounts were created, but along with her usual social media accounts, Ferreira has several pages on erotic sites, including OnlyFans and PornHub.
“As an adult woman, who needed extra income, I looked for other forms of monetization. My mother, for example, knows this and accepts it very well. Even every woman should feel free and fulfilled with her body,” Cibelly told Milenio.
Ferreira reportedly has a degree in biology from the Federal University of Lavras in Brazil and has won prizes in mathematics.
But many of her followers are now suggesting that she give in to her online popularity and become a full-time influencer.
“The school gives me a safe and stable place. However, my content on social networks pays me much more,” she admitted.
The Post has reached out to Ferreira for comment.
This wouldn’t be the first time that a teacher has left or been fired from their position to pursue a more lucrative gig posting content on OnlyFans or PornHub.
An elementary school teacher in Indiana was fired after her OnlyFans account was uncovered by her employer, while a high school teacher in Arizona left her classroom and quickly became a millionaire sharing explicit content on OnlyFans.

Colorado driver tries to switch seats with dog in failed attempt to avoid DUI arrest, police say
Police in Colorado said a man tried to get out of a DUI arrest by attempting to “switch places with his dog who was in the passenger seat.”
The incident happened late Saturday in Springfield, Colorado, after a vehicle was observed traveling 52 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone, according to investigators.
“The driver attempted to switch places with his dog who was in the passenger seat, as the SPD officer approached and watched the entire process,” the Springfield Police Department said in a statement. “The male party then exited the passenger side of the vehicle and claimed he was not driving.
“The male party showed clear signs of intoxication and when asked about his alcohol consumption the male party ran from the Officer,” police added.
The suspect, who was not publicly identified, was captured around 60 feet from the vehicle following a brief foot chase.
“It was discovered that the male was driving from Las Animas to Pueblo and got lost in Springfield,” police said. “The male party was also found to have two active warrants for his arrest out of Pueblo.”
The Bent County Sheriff’s Office then arrived to assist and the suspect “was medically cleared at [a] hospital and then booked into the Baca County Jail for his warrants.”
Police say he has now been charged with “Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, Driving while ability impaired, driving under suspension, speeding 20-24 over, and resisting arrest.”
As for the dog, it “does not face any charges and was let go with just a warning,” the Springfield Police Department said.
“The dog was given to an acquaintance of the driver to take care of while the party was in jail,” police added.
A police Facebook post announcing the arrest drew numerous comments from the public asking investigators to release the bodycam footage.
“I wished my dog could reach the pedals,” one user wrote.
On the same day of the DUI arrest, the Springfield Police Department said it was looking for 40-year-old Gregory Turner in connection with an early morning vehicle pursuit.
In that incident, police say Turner “was in possession of a firearm and is a convicted felon” and is being sought on numerous charges, including obstructing a peace officer, reckless endangerment and driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.

I’d like to make an honorable mention, Even if belated. The fanfare covering the San Francisco boycott of most of the United States, shockingly did not have the intended effect of making everybody else more like San Francisco. In fact all it did was increase the City expenditures by 20%. And nobody really cared what they thought.
