It’s Deja Vu All Over Again
No, I am not a happy camper. Our people are being evacuated from Sudan, and the first thing I asked under my breath was “Why were they there?” They are sitting ducks.
The next thing I asked is why is this happening again?
These are links to the full articles of Americans being evacuated from Saigon in April 29, 1975. The Viet Cong had already breached the outer skirts of Saigon and while there are recordings of US Army personnel contacting each other about it, they still make me so angry that I will not post them anywhere.

To say that this whole thing makes me very angry is an understatement. In my view, there is no excuse for what is going on now in Sudan. It could have been avoided if anyone at all in US government had paid attention.
Just how dumber than a box of rocks does Washington have to be before someone says out loud “It’s time we left yesterday”?

Welcome back!!!!
Thank you!
Yup. SSDD… again.

Thank you, both of you!
The similarities between now and Saigon 1975 are like wondering if some people in WDC just don’t live in reality.
The Sudan may be mentioned in an upcoming ‘toons post.
So we’ve got that going for us.
This is exactly what worries me…..
There is no need to wonder. And there are considerably more than “some” people involved.
As Mr. Santayana said…
Retards who don’t remember the jacked-up ’70s are condemned to repeat them or something like that.
Good to see you back!!
Thanks!
I am carefully watching the declines and fails of several shopping chains (BBBY is officially gone), and asking why this had to happen, other than incompetence in the owners of some of these companies.
Glad to hear the Lioness’ roar again.
I agree with you 100%, Ex
Thanks, and glad to be back!
I literally melted down when I watched the traitor’s in the beltway of corruption abandoned Afghanistan.
I left the central highlands of Thailand in October 1974 and watched real time from Spain the rooftop evacuation.
Now Sudan and “you’re on your own “ foreign policy.
FJB
Right back where you started…..
Something is going to erupt out of this, and I think it will not be a simple slapping contest.
It’s going to expand, that’s for sure. Into Egypt, sub-Saharan Africa, the Horn and across the Red Sea, to varying degrees (though it’s ultimately an internal struggle).
Shrinking American hegemony in the region is a major factor, but that’s neither the cause nor the only element involved.
Brandon’s policy will probably be a further retreat into the darker corners of his basement and, while he can likely be blamed for addressing it poorly, it’s a stretch to say the whole situation is on him.
Marine Corps’ commandant said he let down Combatant Commander:

Good to see you post again Ex.
Thanks!
No head of any diplomatic mission from any country will ever recommend evacuation until they are in imminent fear death.
When are we going to have a president with enough gumption to say “Get my people the Hell out of there now!”???
When the diplomatic mission fails and the flag comes down they are actually surrendering US territory.
A better question might be when will we get a president with good foreign policy? We had one for 4 years and we stayed out of wars and conflicts, mostly got along with everybody. We worked at peace through agreements, and It drove the leftist crazy.
Not to mention that we were regaining some badly needed respect around this treacherous world after eight years of contempt brought upon us by our first pole-smokin’ president.
Much of it was grudging respect from some very dubious characters, but that’s almost always the very best kind…
Y’know, people, I’m waiting to find out just how much Xi JinPing likes eating gold instead of food. China had a 10-year-drought that not only led to the deaths of thousands of Chinese people because the rice fields could not produce the Chinese staples, but also the horrifying effects (e.g., cannibalism) that accompanied the drought.
My dad used to yell at us at the dinner table that people were starving to death in China (1950s) and we had no idea what he was talking about, because our little stomachs were fat and happy.
Let’s hope that the weather does not inflict this on anyone every again, and also that our own people have enough common sense to not swallow the twaddle coming out of WDC.
Yeah, my mother gave up with the “starving children in China” bit when I offered to mail what was left on my plate to those starving kids. Now, I’m basically of a mind to say let ‘em starve. It’ll be a few less we’ll have to shoot. Fuck the Chicoms.
Problem is that there are about a half zillion nice, decent Chinese who are stuck working for those Chicoms.
On the other hand…
So long as the Chinese tolerate bumbling incompetent posturing dictators, they shall have the government they tolerate. Good and hard.
Thank God we don’t have bumbling incompetent wanna be dicatators here!
There is such a thing as edible gold, now.
It’s great on petit-fours.
Xi ain’t starving, and he’s clearly never cared if his people are.
“Let them hate us. So long as they fear us.”
It’s not just that. All the things Trump was trying to do, that the left opposed they are mostly fully onboard with now:
Yeah, but they will never give credit to anyone except their own dumb f-up if it’s successful. Otherwise, it just gets buried.
It sure won’t be trump!
Name edited to protect PII.

Anything to support that stance?
Lemme join the TAH Drunken Rugby Team that moonlights a chorus (if, and only if the money is right. cash upfront, no checks): good to see you!
The whole Sudan thing is fked up squared. Talk about another flare up from the pissing contest that is this mis-admin’s foreign policy.
I’m not sure just changing Diaper Joe out in ’24 will right the ship. That drooling dotard has caused much damage.
Can We just vote ‘no confidence’ on the lot and promise the world a new team’ll do gooder?
We can only try, Roh-Dog.
Good to see ya again, Ex…
Thanks!, poetrooper!
“Miss you” Ex as the song sung by the Crows, 1954 on the Rama label and Great to see you back
Thanks and I hope to be more productive than I was last winter!
Glad to see you back!
The Clown Crewe of DC is in full swing. Gotta work with the media to distract us from things that really matter, like American lives and international relations/perception (which goes hand-in-hand with American lives). We’re baited with Bud Light this, and Tucker Carlson/Don Lemon that, while Biden continues to falter with every step, both literally and figuratively.
As long as Biden dances for his puppetmasters (“They”), he is secure in his office.
Ex-PH2, glad to see you!
I’ve been wondering the same, why were we there at all? Seriously, I’ve been looking and reading and have yet to find a single reason of value or importance…at least important enough to risk American lives. When a country is disintegrating, just pack it up and leave. It’s what we tell kids to do when others at a house-party start doing the kinds of things that will have lifelong consequences.
Oh, that’s right. There are no adults around to give that advice.
How did you get to be so sensible, OAM?
OAM, this could explain some of it:
Sudanese Militants Seize US-Funded BioLab in Khartoum Containing Dangerous Samples of Measles, Cholera, Other Pathogens | The Gateway Pundit | by Jim Hoft
OAM,
Respectfully, did you ever leave a party just when things started to get interesting?
Yes, I absolutely left when things got interesting. I was that scared of my parents as a kid. Now that I’m not a kid…I buy popcorn and hang around for the show
Chattel Slavery is still practiced in Sudan, why the hell were we there in the first place? INHO that’s like sending Foreign Aid to Liberia thinking it will help that dump become civilized.
In the case of Liberia, we created it.
Talk about a boneheaded move!
We didn’t create it, we just naively assumed human nature would change in the face of good will.
We created it. It was intended as colony where former slaves and Freeborn blacks might go, since they were not wanted in many places.
Thus “Republic of Liberia”. Note their flag.
That went well… not:

I was referring specifically to the chattel slavery that began almost immediately after it was established. Apologies for the ambiguity.
So happy to hear from you, and read from you again Ex-PH2!
Please keep writing for us.
Thanks! I plan to give out before I give up!
…“Why were they there?” “It’s a little war and it’s a dirty war, but it’s the only war we got.” When have we heard that before?
“…adventurous abroad and despotic abroad…”
Here’s a novel thought…AGAIN! The Department of Defense should be concerning itself with the defense of these States United.
Welcome Home, Mi’Lady! You (and Sister Mary Grace’s ruler) have been missed…and sorely needed…hereabouts.
Thank you, KoB. I appreciate it a lot. I’m concerned not only with the nonsense about our “place” in the Middle East (why are we there again?) but also with things that are going on here at home and the weird stuff coming out of the government.
Oh, my dear Ex, you have been missed!! So good to have you back where you belong!
Glad to be back, too, Commish!!!
Welcome back, Shipmate!
Thanks!!!
It’s the fourth embassy shuttered under Kandahar Joe’s mismanaged foreign policy, but I can’t directly blame him or his regime for the situation in Khartoum; it takes some mental gymnastics to even indirectly implicate him. Nor can I blame him for maintaining an embassy there.
Would this have happened under Trump? I have no idea. Was Trump better at foreign relations? That’s fairly obvious, but internal struggles (foreign or domestic) didn’t stop just because one or the other sat behind the Resolute Desk.
In diplomacy, there is concrete value in “that crazy bastard might kill us all. Don’t piss him off. Don’t even involve him.”
It’s nice to have you add some spice to this mix again X !
Thanks! I plan to stir the pot as much as possible.
Hi Ex!
Hi, right back!
What a nice surprise! Welcome back!!!
Thank you, CDR D. I was hanging around as much as possible, just playing least in sight for a while.
