Man killed by police after he tried to break into Phoenix apartment

Laura Daniella Sepulveda
A man was shot and killed by Phoenix police officers on Saturday night after he tried to break into an apartment in north Phoenix, according to police.

Officers initially responded to a fight call just after 7 p.m. at an apartment complex near 14th Street and Bell Road, according to Phoenix Police spokesperson Sgt. Philip Krynsky.

Police said officers found a man in his late 70s who wanted to “retrieve items” from an apartment, but he agreed to leave after no one answered the door.

Just before 8:30 p.m. a woman at the same address called the police about a man with a gun trying to break a window to go into the apartment, police said. Officers went back and found the same man in the property’s parking lot, police said.

Police said the man pulled out a handgun after he saw officers approaching him. Police told him to drop the gun as they used a “less lethal tool,” Sgt. Krynsky said.

According to Krynsky, the man ignored commands and pointed the gun up and fired it into the air, police said.

I’m sure the LEOs appreciated a warning shot. Or whatever that was. Thanks again, Gun Bunny.

Phoenix….70 y.o…….
A lot of senior citizens down around the Sun City communities (the original Sun City, Sun City West, Sun City Grand, and those are only the ones I know about).
I can guess that someone’s retirement home is about to go on the market.

According to crime reporting data Phoenix is safer than 4% of the cities in the US. Your chances of becoming a victim of a crime is 1 in 23 or about the same as drawing to an outside straight on the turn.

A twofer Tuesday DRT! Gives one the “warm and fuzzies”. Almost as nice as the feelz from the recoil of the vaunted 30.06.

Do believe it’s gonna be the individual that powers the defense to protect liberty. The states and the feds are failing miserably in that regard. Seems that some are doing all that they can to suppress individual liberty.

With the new Florida carry, A buyer still has to get a background check I believe. When I moved to Florida back in 2007, I had handguns already and found out that I didn’t need a permit if the gun was in the home or taken in a car. To carry concealed, I needed the permit. Took the concealed course , was fingerprinted and blew off some rounds at the indoor range where I took the course .after my move I applied for my permit. Took a number of months to get it and a few years later it took a couple of weeks due to all the funds that were supposed to go to the permit work were going to other agencies and when found out, the money stayed in the permit div. Anti 2A Agriculture Commish tried fucking things up awhile ago to try and slow down the number of permit applications but the kabosh was put on her. Will the new concealed carry people have to take a course regarding the Fl. Penal code/use of a firearm??? I Would feel good if that were the case. How about some feedback from some of you Florida residents. Lunch now and then a 1PM appt to have a tooth pulled after the bad date with the Snickers candy bar.

Under the new law, anyone wanting to carry comcealed without a permit is not required to take any training.

Those wishing to have a conceal carry permit, so that they can carry outside the state, will still do the training etc.

In a nutshell, no license or training required for instate carry, license and training required if you want to carry outside the state in states that reciprocate with Florida.

Which means no training in the stand your ground laws, legal use of deadly force or legal ramifications etc.

Basically if you want to carry, you can carry as of 1 July 2023. You’re on your own and it’s up to the individual to know the laws.

All guns sold by a retailer with an FFL must run the background check and require the buyer to fill out the form 4473. It is a requirement of federal law.

Mike B

Correct, and if you have a permit you can take it home right away.

No permit it’s a 3 day waiting period for all guns (Long guns or pistols). Antiques are supposed to be exempt from the background check and 3 day wait, but every licensed gunshop I’ve been to does the check and wait.

Plus to purchase a firearm in Florida (Long gun or pistol) you must be 21 years old now. Plus Florida does an enhanced background check now. All this due to the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.

So purchasing guns in Alabama or Georgia is a hassle. Must be sent to a Florida FFL, so the enhanced background check can be done.

Since I’m in Florida, I bought 6 handguns. First .9MM, Had the back ground check and all the others, I had the concealed carry permit and the clerks just called up the ATF at that time to see if things were kosher with me. Bought a Spanish Star auto and a Colt Detective special for a hundred bucks apiece from my second floor neighbor. I showed him my carry permit and that was that. The news was saying that their would now be a rush on buying guns but they didn’t mention that their are thousands down here that don’t have permits because they don’t carry and now they can carry.

Forgot to add that one of the Condo owners I knew was a Yonkers NY Retired Detective who gave me a tear gas pen gun and when he passed on, his Daughter gave me a Colt 1908 .25 Auto. that he took from a perp but didn’t turn in. I had to take it apart right down to parade rest to give it a good cleaning. tried it at the range and then vacumme packed it into the safe.

Yeap, went to a gunshow this past weekend and was amazed at the number of first time buyers purchasing handguns and holsters.

Also the private sellers were selling out of their handguns pretty damn quick. Because you can buy and walk with it the same day.

I picked up another milsurp (CZ-82) to add to my herd of 40 + milsurps. Plus it looks good with my CZ-83’s and my CZ-52. A couple bayonets I needed.

Hmm looking online for my next gun already….!

That’s what I thought because all these peeps down here think that you can now buy a gun and walk away. I should have known better.
