A newspaper in North Korea claims that about 800,000 citizens either reenlisted or volunteered to join the military. The motivation cited for volunteering and for reenlisting? Fighting the United States. Further down the article, the claim switches to 800,000 students and workers volunteering to fight America.

North Korea claims that about 800,000 of its citizens volunteered to join or reenlist in the nation’s military to fight against the United States, North Korea’s state newspaper reported on Saturday.
About 800,000 students and workers, on Friday alone, across the country expressed a desire to enlist or reenlist in the military to counter the US, the Rodong Sinmun newspaper reported.
“The soaring enthusiasm of young people to join the army is a demonstration of the unshakeable will of the younger generation to mercilessly wipe out the war maniacs making last-ditch efforts to eliminate our precious socialist country, and achieve the great cause of national reunification without fail and a clear manifestation of their ardent patriotism,” the North’s Rodong Sinmun said.

It would take very little food for a new NORK recruit to be fed better than the average NORK citizen. It makes sense to enlist if you are starving to death.

Due to Covid deaths my state would have had heavy negative population growth since 2020 (the first year we had negative natural population growth in state history). However mass immigration in the form of legal and illegal has reversed that trend. Unfortunately they are all coming here. Like literally here. My county is the fastest growing in the state and my city the 2nd fastest growing in the state. The real numbers are much higher as it is impossible to count the SA/CA migrants.
There are currently more than 3000 housing units under construction in the city, or already built this year in a city of 30K. I drive around the city a lot and I’ve never actually seen anyone other than Hispanics working on the housing other than plumbers, electricians and other specialists.

It wasn’t for nothing, but August 2021 was painful as the oldest of 3 brothers who all served during that timeframe. 2 of us deployed twice for the “show” and my youngest brother got sent to South Korea instead of the Middle East. I also have a cousin on my mother’s side who is a Marine officer who deployed to Afghanistan. I have a cousin once removed on my father’s side who recently completed Basic Recon Course. His father, my cousin, was a Marine Recon officer who served in Gulf War I and later was involved in counter-drug ops in South America. This saga has involved 30 years of my family history and two generations. I went from a young man to an old man in that time and it was the defining moment for my generation. So, no, it wasn’t for nothing but I want civilian leadership worthy of the effort we put forth and senior military leadership who will look out for my Joes as much as I do. I’ve got more time behind me in the military than I do ahead of me but I always wanted to leave it better than I found it and I want to make sure that I leave my little piece of it in capable hands. And, if I get called up “one mo’ time”, I want to be part of a force that is allowed to finish the job.
A thousand thousand amens to that! Anyone willing to live that creed is truly my Brother and I’ll be happy to ride “one mo’ time” with ‘im.

I’ve read the book by former North Korean Yeonmi Park who escaped North Korea at age 13 with her mother thru China to Mongolia and South Korea. Now she is a Youtuber in New York with a million followers and another book just released.
The family lived across the river from China and was fascinated by all the lights and, when the wind was right, the smell of cooking food across the river.
