Would-be burglar killed while breaking into home NW Houston, police say
Police said the neighbor heard a strange noise and went out to investigate before the shooting.

A man was shot and killed while breaking into a home after being spotted by a neighbor, according to Houston police.It happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on Saxon Dr. near Mangum Rd. in northwest Houston.
Police said a noise alerted the neighbor that something wasn’t right. When he went out to investigate, he spotted a man breaking into his neighbor’s empty home.
At some point, the man then lunged at the neighbor. Police said that’s when the neighbor fired a gun, which shot and killed the man.

DOJ: Dunn County deputy involved in fatal incident

A Dunn County deputy has been placed on administrative leave after an officer-involved fatal shooting Saturday night, according to the state’s Department of Justice.At approximately 9:08 p.m. Saturday, officers conducted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle near Terril Road and Bongey Drive in Menomonie, according to a DOJ press release.
“The vehicle involved in the contact was taken during an armed home invasion, where it was reported shots were fired,” the press release states. “During the traffic stop, law enforcement officers from the Menomonie Police Department and the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office discharged their weapons striking the driver of the vehicle. First aid was rendered but the subject died at the scene.”
No law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident.

Houston has gotten the party started early. They slipped a little last year and only had about 500 homicides in the city, down from about 540. They don’t want to lose their place as the crime mecca of Texas.

That is more austin than houston. The big crime issues came from all the displaced folks from nola when the city flooded several years back. They never went back home.

Saint John resided in Ogden. His pappy’s hardware store and gun shop was a few blocks down the street from my great-great-great grandpappy’s furniture store.
Roger that SFC D. Was using the SLC reference since that is the HQ of The Mormon Faith and HMS JMB is the most famous Mormon since Brigham Young…and they can afford to throw a big parade. Plus the Tabernacle Choir would do such a melodious rendition of the Praise Hymn. IIRC our Boy, Tox, is not too far out from there and would be the prime candidate to head up the organizing there of.
I remember you gloating over your family’s connection to HMS JMB (HBHN) on this site several times in the past. Was appropriately pea green with envy. Ogden was on my list of places to try to get thru on my covid cancelled road trip back in 2020.
