Hopefully none of our DWs and DWettes were flying Wednesday when virtually all continental air traffic was shut down or the first time since 9/11 by “serious FAA system failures”.
In December 2021, the FAA, under Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, changed the “Notice to Airman” (NOTAM) to “Notice to Air Missions” — preserving the same acronym — in an effort to have more inclusive language. After the NOTAM system crashed earlier this week, the DOT fell under fire for focusing on staying woke rather than addressing other transportation issues.
“Just look at the change as to what NOTAM stands for. It has been ‘Notices to Airman’ for many years. Recently, the agency spent a great deal of money and effort to take the word ‘man’ out of the title and instead call it ‘Notices to Air Missions’. Documents had to be changed, to the new name, etc. Spend that effort and money on bolstering the systems that makes and keeps flying safe,” Lagonia said.
According to Fox 11 in Los Angeles, a corrupt file led to the Wednesday outage of the NOTAM system.
So when the FAA found the corrupt file, they decided to shut down and reboot their system – which failed(What’s that phrase about if it ain’t broke?)
The NOTAM system and the backup system are based on decades-old technology and have not been updated due to budget constraints, CNN reported.
“Because of budgetary concerns and flexibility of budget, this tech refresh has been pushed off,”
The FAA’s budget request for fiscal year 2023 revealed they sought to spend millions in “climate change,” “inclusion,” “racial equity” and “environmental justice.”
The FAA’s funding to “address climate change” included funding that “supports additional staffing and contract support for the FAA’s implementation of a comprehensive climate program.”
“Ridiculous, neither the DOT nor FAA should be involved with being a social “petri dish” investing in such nonsense,” JP Tristiani, an aviation expert, veteran and pilot, told Fox News Digital.
Tristiani said ultimately Buttigieg “is responsible, and accountable for the oversight of the FAA.
Nice that the system downing didn’t kill anyone. Sure would suck for 100+ folks to die so the FAA can be gender-neurtal.

I saw the alert message FAA issued to announce the NOTAM system was down. For a critical message intended to convey vital information they still included ‘inclusive’ verbiage.
What was the inclusive wording?
“Stakeholder.”
Yep, they’re holding another stake to drive into the wallets of taxpayers And this kind of bullsh^t should be “inclusive” to the SPoTW Thread. Paying more taxes is NOT going to affect the weather. Ask them folks in the SE US that got hammered by the tornados this past week…or the ones in Commiefornia that are being hit with the atmospheric river…or the blizzards in the Mid-West.
Eventhough a “stakeholder” can act solely for his own benefit and not the enterprise’s. The terrorists on 9/11 were “stakeholders” in American Airlines, for example.
Things like “stakeholder Capitalism” are usually advanced by Leftists who want to exploit a company for their own ends– usually make the company give them $$$ and advocate for their cause. Crooks who steal from a company are also “stakeholders” as they have an interest in it.

“Man” must be removed from everything. The motto on the 7th Signal Brigade unit crest was once “Get the word to the man”. This will not do. It is now “Voice of freedom”, much friendlier and gender neutral. Because that’s what’s most important.

You want a guy with one recycle or ninb flying your plane? Or one that was “socially promoted” to make the diversity quota even though they did not make the cut.

Interesting factoid: The lack of NOTAMs does not affect the flight of private aircraft. Although, the lack of the info from the NOTAMs may make the flight less safe. They provide pilots with info about flight nav systems and equipment that is inop or shutdown, such as an ILS system at an airport that is shut down.
I just looked, because I was curious. How many Secretaries of Transportation have you heard of? Until Buttigieg, I’d heard of only one (Liddy Dole) and that has nothing to do with her time at DOT.
Buttigieg wants to be president. He turned into a Biden sycophant in exchange for a quiet, cushy Cabinet appointment. Instead of disappearing into the swamp like he is supposed to he’s used it to prove his far-left bona fides. He’s also used a series of errors and missteps to boost his image. A conspiracy theorist might think it was intentional.
Meanwhile Buttigieg likely went to cuddle his boyfriend and baby lashing out at his critics as “homophobes”, I wouldn’t put it past him. Just what qualifications does he truly have other than being a less-than-mediocre mayor and being blatantly openly gay enough for Biden to be able to say, “LOOK AT ME, I hired …”?
NOT enough money to fix the problem? IMO more like no politicians getting kickbacks and publicity for fixing it, thus it stays broken.
