Fairfax Co. officer broadcasts ‘audio porn’ on police radio

Moments after D.C. rang in the New Year, an off-duty officer in Fairfax County inadvertently broadcast “audio porn” over police radio, according to the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau.

Fairfax County Police told WTOP that the audio transmission, which occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Jan 1., was on a channel primarily used by dispatchers and first responders.

WTOP sent a recording of the “inappropriate” radio broadcast to the FCPD via email — the department said the more than five minutes of audio matched what was broadcast on police radio overnight.

The department said that the officer in question was off-duty and alone in his vehicle when the incident occurred.

“The off-duty officer had his portable radio in the trunk of his car and forgot to turn it off,” the department said in a subsequent news release. “Our investigation revealed that the off-duty officer was listening to ‘audio porn’ over his Bluetooth in his vehicle, which was captured on his activated police radio.”

A spokesperson for the department said the police officer, who remains unidentified, has been interviewed about the incident by Internal Affairs and the investigation will continue.

Florida sheriff: Burglars call 911 to get help moving stuff

Two people in Florida were arrested after one of them made a 911 call to get help with moving their belongings from a home they were burglarizing, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a home Saturday after a 911 call was made but nobody spoke, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said. At the home, the deputies concluded that nobody lived there, but they found a male suspect and his girlfriend inside the home after entering it through an unlocked door.

Deputies had been searching for the male suspect after identifying him from security video as a burglar at a Dollar General store in Poinciana, Florida, where several items were stolen earlier in the day, the sheriff’s office said in a statement. Poinciana is about 35 miles (55 kilometers) south of Orlando.

While talking to deputies, the female suspect told them that she had called 911 for the purpose of having law enforcement help them move their belongings from the house they were burglarizing. They also wanted to get a ride to the airport so they could spend the weekend in New York, the sheriff’s office said.

“Deputies DID help them with their belongings, and DID give them a ride, but it wasn’t to the airport … it was to the Polk Pokey,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post. “And they are welcome to stay there all weekend long. The Polk Pokey is much better than New York anyway.”

The male suspect was charged with burglary and theft related to the store and also burglary of a residence. The female suspect was charged with burglary of a residence, according to the sheriff’s office.

California arsonists set themselves on fire while attacking business, video shows

A video has emerged of two suspected arsonists in California setting themselves on fire during an attack on a business, with one heard yelling “Ahhh!” while trying to escape the scene.

The incident happened early Monday morning at Servicio de Imigracion in Bakersfield. The company provides immigration and naturalization services.

Footage taken from a Ring security camera begins with two unidentified masked individuals approaching the business and dousing it with gasoline.

One of the individuals then leans over to ignite the gasoline, but once doing so, the sudden and rapid inferno appears to catch both by surprise.

The suspected arsonist who started the blaze is then seen running away with flames trailing up their leg, while the other repeatedly slips trying to flee the fire.

“Ahhh!” one of the individuals is heard screaming before running off into the night with what appears to be their lower back and buttocks on fire.

The flames were put out about 10 minutes after first responders arrived, according to 23ABC.

The business owner, Max Solorzano, told the station that the city of Bakersfield needs to do more to keep locals protected.

“They have to work harder in that aspect, in keeping the community safe,” he said. “We are a small business and we help many people, so there will be people who will not be able to receive our services due to inactivity.

“That is what most saddens me,” he continued. “We help many farmworker families with their immigration processes, we help people do taxes. We ask our clients to have patience with us, we will get through this.”

The motive for the attack is unclear and as of Wednesday, the suspects have not been captured.

Man gets life after turning down plea offer in Daytona drug killing

Jaquez Head should have taken the deal.

Prosecutors had offered the 23-year-old Head a plea deal that would have sent him to prison for 25 years for his part in a drug robbery that left an 18-year-old woman named Rachael Gasparini dead in Daytona Beach in 2020. With time served and other credits, Head could have been released after 19 years.

Head was not the shooter but he was the “muscle” in the robbery, a prosecutor has said. Head turned the deal down, took his chances at trial and was convicted of first-degree felony murder which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. He was also convicted of robbery with a firearm, which also carried up to life in prison.

Head, who is from Georgia, was in court Thursday for sentencing at the S. James Foxman Justice Center in Daytona Beach. Circuit Judge Leah Case sentenced him to the mandatory life in prison for the felony murder.

But the judge said that since the trial she had learned that Head had been placed on probation in 2019 for 10 years for another armed robbery.

“And not even two years later you are committing an armed robbery that ends up with somebody being shot and killed,” Case told Head.

Then Case sentenced Head to another life prison term on the armed robbery to run consecutive to the first life sentence.

Head remained silent as he faced the judge and did not appear to show any reaction. Head did not make any statement during sentencing hearing.

Assistant State Attorney Andrew Urbanak had asked for the consecutive life terms.

Head’s court-appointed defense attorney, Philip Massa, had asked for a prison sentence on the armed robbery closer to the bottom of the state guidelines, which he said was about 10 years.

Head and three accomplices traveled from Georgia on Sept. 18, 2020, to rob Kevin Berry, who was dealing marijuana out of the apartment he shared with his girlfriend, Rachael Gasparini, at the Eagle Point Apartments, 468 Brentwood Drive in Daytona Beach.

Head put the smaller Berry in a chokehold and struggled to control the smaller man, according to prosecutors.

Berry testified at trial he had not seen that one of the men had a gun when he yelled for Gasparini to get his AR-15.

Gasparini stepped out of the bedroom, but she did not have a gun. Another one of the robbers, Jordan Graham, fired at her, Urbanak said during the trial. One bullet grazed Gasparini but another inflicted a fatal wound.

Besides Head and Graham, prosecutors said Armonta Waters, 23, was the “set-up” guy who arranged the buy and Kimba Kimble was the getaway driver; and Graham, 20, was the triggerman who fired the gun that killed Gasparini.

Waters and Graham have also been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm.

Kimble, 24, was charged with third-degree felony murder with a firearm. Kimble did not enter the apartment; he remained in the car, according to Urbanak.

The cases of the other three men remain open.

Biker who tried to get away from GSP identified after he posted video of chase to TikTok, YouTube

The Clayton County Police Department has issued arrest warrants for a Riverdale motorcyclist after officers said he eluded police during a chase and then posted his exploits on social media.

The Georgia State Patrol had begun chasing the biker through Clayton and Henry counties, but said the driver was able to get away after they lost contact with him.

After hearing about the case, Lt. Reimers with the Clayton County Police Department began searching social media and eventually found video recorded by the suspect of the chase on TikTok and YouTube.

The video shows the driver weaving in and out of traffic, driving along the shoulders of the road, as well as driving in between vehicles and speeding along the interstate.

Using investigative software, Reimers was able to identify the make and model of the motorcycle, which turned out to be a relatively rare sports bike. From there, Reimers tracked down the owner of the motorcycle using his registration.

On Dec. 14, GSP met with Reimers and then went to the driver’s Riverdale home to conduct a “knock and talk.”

While at the home, they spoke with the driver, saw the motorcycle and the driver eventually admitted to fleeing from GSP.

Clayton County police said they issued 12 arrest warrants against the driver, who has not been identified. It’s unclear exactly what charges he faces.

“Without the diligent efforts of Lieutenant Reimers to go above and beyond the call of duty, it is highly likely that the offender would not have been identified and he could have continued to endanger the citizens of Clayton County,” police said in a Facebook post.

Hack Stone

It’s much easier to solve crimes these days when the suspects post their crimes on social media.

Old tanker

When the arson video came out the building was identified as an immigration center of some kind. I am surprised to read it was some kind of tax filing business. I hope the idiots got some nice burns and get jail time as well.
