We all know the Griner saga so I won’t belabor it here. But just what did the Biden Administration give up for her return? Meet Viktor Bout, the so-called Merchant of Death. Born in 1967 and a native of Tajikistan, he graduated from Moscow’s Military Institute of Foreign Languages and is fluent in six. He is believed to have served in the Red Army as a translator in Angola. He started out in business when his regiment was disbanded during the breakup of the former Soviet Union, and he was able to establish working relationships with various African heads of state and rebel leaders in Liberia, Zair, Libya, and the Congo.
His shell companies employed some 300 people and owned and operated up to 60 aircraft, including cargo planes. His maze of companies made his activities nearly impossible to trace. Dubbed “the merchant of death” by a British government official, U.N. monitors have accused Bout of shipping contraband weapons to rebel movements in Angola and Sierra Leone and to the Taylor regime in Liberia.
Bout has operated in Afghanistan, Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Libya, Congo-Brazzaville, Pakistan, the Philippines, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, United Arab Emirates and Uganda.
According to a Belgian intelligence document and first reported in January 2002, in the late 1990s Bout earned $50 million selling weapons to the Taliban. Another intelligence source independently verified the sales. Intelligence from an African country in which Bout operated claimed that he ran guns for the Taliban “on behalf of the Pakistan government.” To his credit he denied any association with the Taliban or al Qaeda. This declaration is a bit diluted with his additional denial of any association with “arms traffickers and/or trafficking or the sale of arms of kind [sic] anywhere in the world.”
Bout was arrested in Thailand, extradited to the US, and convicted of conspiring with a terrorist organization and plotting to kill American civilians and officials. He was sentenced in 2011 to 25 years in prison.
The current Administration’s priorities are quite clear.

Well, if those Democrat knuckleheads ever do get their “assault weapons” ban signed into law and it gets upheld after the inevitable court challenge, seems Mr. Bout will have a large market in which to peddle his wares. Only instead of semi-auto weapons, we’re going to see actual assault weapons flooding the streets. And instead of the empty AT4 tubes those idiot cops purchase at their “gun buy backs”, we’re going to see legit RPG’s. Even if he decides not to pay us back directly by selling to street gangs here in the States, he’s going to make things very challenging for us internationally since he’s going to pick up where he left off. He can arm the new Taliban government, the Houthis, ISIS, the Mexican cartels, and a variety of bad actors around the world. I’m sure the Chinese will be more than happy to help him fill these orders.
The Biden administration has already armed the Taliban government. The value of the goods he gifted them is the stuff of Bout’s dreams.
Bout’s role with the Taliban will be marketing their windfall to other rouge actors who hate the United States but love the weapons we make. We may even see some of it showing up on our own streets.

We also can’t discount them making some type of distribution deal with him involving their only agricultural export, opium. Our political leadership is really creating a global mess. I’m sure the chaos on our southern border hasn’t escaped Bout’s attention either with all of the gunfights happening in cities like Nuevo Laredo. Hell, northern Mexico is fast becoming a no-go zone for their government. Just the type of situation Bout thrives in. Wanna bet that one of the six languages he’s fluent in is Spanish?
