How can we miss him if he won’t leave?

| December 9, 2022

well, now that the dust has settled, looks like the ’22 elections are on ice. As should be Mr. Trump. With Walker’s loss to Warnock, I read that the Dems successfully defended all their up-for-grabs Senate seats – for the first time since 1934. That’s almost a century, folks. (Thank God they didn’t EQUAL ’34, back then they not only defended they won an additional 12 seats.)

Everyone “knew” the high inflation, escalating gas prices, and ineffectiveness of the Biden administration overseas would lead to a “red tide” which would ‘Bama’s look like pondwater.  Two things helped kill that: the Supreme Court and Trump. Believe someone here said he endorsed over 300 candidates and most won? I’d like to see where… on the national level, seems like all the major candidates for Senate and most for the House lost or only held on by the skin of their teeth, even in supposedly ‘safe’ precincts..

While Democrats celebrate their 51st seat in the upper chamber, Karl Rove, a veteran GOP strategist and Fox News contributor, says the Republican loss was avoidable.

“It shouldn’t have been,” Rove told Fox News Digital. “We had a terrible candidate who was well-meaning but plagued with a lot of scandal and was not particularly good on the campaign trail.”

The Republicans’ loss in the Peach State boils down to poor candidate quality at the hands of former President Donald Trump, according to Rove.

Fox News

I’m gonna agree with Rove. Trump’s main virtue in ’16 was that he was not Hillary, just as in ’20 Biden wasn’t Trump. Having never been a Trump fan (think I posted as far back as ’15 that despite speeches, Trump was only out for Trump, and I still believe that today) maybe I am somewhat biased. But I will be shocked if he does win the candidacy, and more shocked if he wins again. More likely he will fracture the Republican Party further if not outright kill it. I think too many “rigged election” allegations have gone unproven other than in the court of  scuttlebutt to take his style of “I wuz robbed” seriously.

I mentioned the Court – while I think overturning Roe v. Wade was right, it opened the door to too many legislatures trying to effectively outlaw all abortion. Not a smart move – there is such a thing as a medically or morally necesary abortion, and in too many cases that was ignored, which gave the bleeding heart Dems a hook to hang their campaigns on.  Not saying they should take the decision back – there are bad decisions which need to go away (anyone remember Dred Scott?) but perhaps a more nuanced decision mentioning needing some avenue for some abortions would have been wiser.

Strictly just my opinion.  Torches and pitchforks available at the door.

Blaming Trump is just fucking stupid…Please pull your head out…

Old tanker

I disagree. It’s not like I hate him, I don’t. I voted for him each time. What I do recognize is he is an extremely polarizing figure for both sides. Unfortunately in the case of elections he has enabled the dems to convince independents to side with the dems due to their propaganda and Trump’s own poor speaking history. The anti Trump crowd is alive and well with the FULL backing of the media to spread the hate Trump word. As a result he taints any race he supports. Honestly, I think if he endorsed demokrat candidates I think the election would have gone the other way. He is such a pariah to the left that there is no way I think he would win and that just emboldens the dems.

On the abortion topic, it wasn’t just some states wanting to ban it entirely, it was states like mine (Michigan) where the previous law from 1931 did ban it entirely. When that law went back into effect it made left-leaning people come out in droves. Add to it, the Dems had a well-organized ground game in college towns to mobilize students to vote, using same-day voter registration. The college kids came out in droves for the Dems because of abortion. Dems will now run the state 100% – governor, both legislative houses, and the Supreme Court.

The progs get their agenda passed by making small bites. Too bad abortion could not have been dealt with the same way.

Also a lesson for Republicans is Kansas where Republican heavily outnumber Democrats. Kansas voters still chose to deny a change to their constitution to allow abortion bans. 60-40 was the final tally in one of the largest turnouts for a primary ballot initiative in the state’s history. 44% of the voters that turned out were Rs while 26% were Ds and the balance unaffiliated…

Middle of the Road Republicans aren’t interested in total bans, nor are they interested in giving the anti-abortionists a toe hold towards a ban…

Abortion is not the win for Republicans beyond their religious base that some Republicans think it will be for them….it’s not a national concerning issue regardless of who does or does not like that reality.

Yet on occasion there are proofs that destroy theory.

Since 2008, has much changed? Or have we been told it has to the point we believe it?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_California_Proposition_8

Read polls something like 60% of citizens agree with restrictions after the first trimester.

Also, to retain the rights of the people, anyone with half a brain wouldn’t want to amend(especially with the bad verbiage) when law is more adept at retention of process.

Who knows where we really are….

Most people understand that after the first 12-16 weeks abortion for the sake of abortion is problematic.

The issue arises that the statistical information available indicates that women don’t typically abort simply because they decided to after those times either.

By criminalizing it without exception you create these bizarre situations where a woman’s child dies within her womb but she can’t get a procedure in her home state to remove the dead child…and now from 6 months to whenever her body decides to deliver that dead child she will be compelled to carry that dead child each and every day or find a different state to travel to in order to get a medical procedure that is defined as abortion.

The statistics on when most abortions for the purpose of not wanting a child take place well before viability post delivery of the child. The procedures taking place after that are mostly associated with potentially horrific outcomes.

This is why bans without exception fail.

Post-COVID election policies regarding ballot harvesting and drop boxes make it far easier to cheat. Not to mention the weird stuff in Maricopa County, AZ with the machines coincidentally breaking down on Election Day.

Some of the candidates definitely could have been better and still should have won against some of these walking corpses ( I’m looking at you Dr Oz).

These two things are not mutually exclusive.

MCPO USN

Exactly. The Dumbacrats were saying Herschel Walker was not intelligent while also promoting a severely mentally handicapped person in Fetterman. Pennsylvania and Arizona were rigged, no doubt.

rgr769

Agree. The ballot mules were on the march in both states. Moreover, Hobbs got to control and certify her own election in Az.

rgr769

Wow. I must have offended someone with a little reality.

A vast left wing conspiracy that includes rinos and foreign actors of all colors stole the red wave in 2022 just as they stole the 2020 election.

Will AZ be the new Lexington/Concord of the future? The Courts will saying something soon, how many boxes are left?

Trump or no Trump, Freedom and Liberty will never die!

We have put together I think the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics.” — Joe Biden

I was not a Trump Boi, but I did vote for him…twice. To me, he was the lessor of the two evils. I do believe that he was sincerely trying to do what he thought was best for the American Taxpayer. I also believe that he was hamstrung by the reputed “Deep State” including members of his own party. I further believe that our own grubermint is hell bent for leather to maintain their grip on power full steam ahead on screwing “We, The People.”

We owe 30+ Trillion $s, our military is a hollow shell of wokeness, and there is no telling how many sleeper cells of terrorists are laying in wait to wreak havoc and spread terror and discontent. Our Republic cannot continue on the path we are on and I have 0 faith on the politicians that created this mess fixing it. Prepare to defend yourselves.

Roh-Dog

Add to that, we used to judge by deed, not by words.

The faults of PDJT can be summed up by two really dumb mistakes:
1) the illegal executive action on so-called bumpstocks
-and-
B) declaration of emergency over a bad cold (with the subsequent fallouts: PPP theft, riots, illegal mail-in elections, “vaxxines”, etc)

Now, do I believe these actions are out of hate? Possibly, most likely out of misguided concern.

Was his vitriol directed at ticks inhabiting our ‘government’ theatre? Maybe.

Am I excited by PDJT running again, to further disturb the slimy creatures eeking in the Potomac muck?
NO. I want to resurrect Goldwater or Andy Jackson and burn down the district (as necessary).

Is PDJT the ‘lesser of two evils’? Probably, but as needed he retains a function to disabuse The They from control of The We.

USMC Steve

Trump has had his time. If he really wants to be effective, he needs to be the Anti-Soros and plaster money out there to conservative causes, or just go out after anything Soros is putting cash into.

Steve 1371

I couldn’t have said it better except I did like Trump for the most part.

Twist

One factor you missed was the illegal vote buying scheme, I mean student loan forgiveness, that would be paid for off the backs of blue collar workers energizing young people to vote. It’s no coincidence that the Biden Administration announced it shortly before the midterm elections

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Republicans still think they won because Trump was wonderful…that’s been the misguided lesson that was learned by the hardcore Trump supporters and it’s clearly the wrong lesson. The same as Republicans thinking abortion is a winning issue for them….

The fact of the matter regardless of what Democrats think or Republicans think is that Independents now decide national elections all over the nation….Independents outnumber both parties in several states that are either battleground states or near battleground…and Independents are notoriously middle of the road kind of people. Abortion doesn’t sell with them, and Trump doesn’t sell with them. If the mid-terms didn’t make that clear to Republicans they should begin preparing now to be disappointed in 2024.

USMC Steve

I never saw abortion as a winning issue or not, I am against baby murder except where it is really necessary, and not a matter of convenience for some woman failing to practice responsible sex practices. That so many people in this country are fine with that says much about how fucked we are.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

You can’t advance any agenda if you can’t win. If you paint your party as a single issue party and that issue is abortion all I’m suggesting is that you should get used to losing and never again holding all three branches of the legislature…

Slow Joe

Dave, why do you hate the Trumpminator?

If he was out for himself, he would definitely not in politics or running for office. He was doing great before deciding to run. I am starting to suspect you got bitten by someone with TDS. Don’t let the females in your household run your house, or you.

I personally do not like Trump as a person that much. He is very different from my introverted personality and I absolutely hate his speeches when he is improvising off script. His State of the Union were ok, but when he goes off script…

However, it doesn’t friggin matter. This ain’t about how much we like a President or not, it is about only ONE thing: who can run the economy better and keep us ahead of the chicoms. Obviously, only Trump can do that, and therefore, he got my vote. And then there are all the perks, of him being a great negotiator and feared by our enemies, while the current regime is the laughing stock of the world.

And that’s why my home is MAGA COUNTRY!!!!

rgr769

Ditto. And Trump was the first person to actually do something to stop illegal immigration. Even Reagan got rolled on that issue with the 1986 law. Imagine what Trump could have accomplished without the deep state and D-rats trying to take him out.

Smitty

And if Republicans had had the guts to push legislation they only talked about- he would have signed laws which Brandon could not overturn by executive order.

LCplSchmucatelli

Trump voter here. Trump said he finished the wall, and he didn’t. He also said Mexico would pay for it and instead we used defense base construction funds on it. Trump said a lot but accomplished very little. And if you want to blame his incompetence on the “deep state” then fine, but that still makes him incompetent nonetheless.
