Man drops ID info after allegedly trying to rob Bellingham bank

A Spokane man was arrested Friday, Oct. 21, after allegedly attempting to rob a bank in the 1500 block of Cornwall Avenue in Bellingham — and he led police right to him.

Mark D. Gotcher, 65, was charged with attempted first-degree robbery after allegedly walking into the bank Friday around 10:30 a.m. and saying, “This is a bank robbery,” Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy told The Bellingham Herald in an email Monday, Oct. 24.

Gotcher then allegedly requested a photocopy of his ID from the teller, dropped a piece of paper with his name and date of birth on it and fled on foot after being yelled at by a patron of the bank, according to police.

Gotcher did not get any money, according to police.

Officers found Gotcher a few blocks away and he admitted to attempting to rob the bank, according to police.

Gotcher remained in custody Monday at the Whatcom County Jail. His bail is set at $10,000.

Vegan woman left ‘almost in tears’ after eating meat-based Burger King meal

Someone find me the world’s smallest fiddle!

A woman claims she was left “almost in tears” after realizing she was biting into a Burger King chicken nugget, initially believing it was a plant-based item.

“When I ate it and realized, it made me feel sick. I was nearly in tears. I have health issues as well, so I don’t want to be putting meat in my body,” Lianna Hutchins of Bournemouth, England, told the Daily Echo following the incident.

Hutchins said she had placed a £45 order (approximately $52) for her family on October 14 and said the smell and texture of the nugget was different from that of a plant-based one. The lifelong vegetarian told the outlet she bit into the meal and “thought to myself this doesn’t taste vegan.”

Hutchins said she turned to a vegan lifestyle three years ago, avoiding eggs, dairy, products, and meat as a result.

“I couldn’t believe it; with Natasha’s Law you’d think everybody would be trained and be aware of food allergies,” Hutchins told the Daily Echo.

The UK’s Natasha’s Law went into effect in October 2021, requiring food businesses to include a full list of ingredients and allergens on labeling for prepackaged foods available for direct sale on the business premises.

“Burger King UK acknowledges the customer’s concern and apologizes for the impact this has caused,” a Burger King spokesperson told the outlet. “After further investigation, we believe all the appropriate steps were taken, and there were no signs of cross-contamination. We will be reaching out to the customer to provide assistance and will be working to ensure all necessary measures and staff training are reinforced.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Burger King but did not hear back in time for publication.

Hutchins stated the fast-food branch did not take the situation seriously, saying she had to take herself away from her family meal and report the incident over the phone.

“I contacted the restaurant and the manager was very dismissive. He put me on the phone with the man who packed my order. He told me to go to the head office,” Hutchins told the Daily Echo. “We eventually got a refund on only the chicken nuggets, which was £5, but they didn’t refund the rest of the meal. I couldn’t eat the rest of the meal, I felt sick.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Hutchins for additional comment but did not hear back at the time of this writing.

2 suspects steal from store, then can’t find their car keys, Centralia police say

A man and woman from Portland were booked on suspicion of second-degree theft over the weekend after they allegedly stole $1,700 in merchandise from a Nike outlet store, according to Centralia police.

But either in the store or outside of it, the two theft suspects lost their car keys and couldn’t leave, according to police.

About 6:50 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to the 100 block of West High Street after a report of disorderly conduct, Chief Stacy Denham said.

The man and woman, ages 57 and 49, apparently had stolen shoes and clothes, but couldn’t find their car keys. They then went back inside the store to look for the keys and ultimately got into an argument with store staff, accusing them of taking their keys, Denham said.

Employees responded that they did not have their keys, he said.

It was during the argument that police were called to the scene and eventually found the stolen merchandise, Denham said.

He said Tuesday he wasn’t sure whether the keys were found.

Pentagon Force Protection Agency officer arrested for dealing cocaine, police say

A Defense Department police officer is facing criminal charges after he was arrested for distributing illicit drugs while off duty, according to local authorities.

Police in Arlington County, Va., where the Pentagon is located, said the officer — Eric Welch — was arrested Friday after investigators witnessed him buying illegal narcotics. They said he planned to sell those drugs as part of a trafficking scheme.

Welch is a member of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency and was not on duty when he was taken into custody. Authorities said he was carrying a firearm at the time of his arrest.

Arlington officials said investigators had been watching Welch for illegal drug activity.

“Detectives initiated a narcotics investigation after receiving information regarding a suspect possibly distributing cocaine in Arlington County,” county police said in a statement Monday. “During the course of the investigation, detectives identified Welch as a suspect and obtained evidence confirming involvement in narcotics distribution.”

Authorities said Welch was arrested on a street in Arlington about 2 miles southwest of the Pentagon. Police later searched his house nearby in Alexandria, where officials said they found more drugs and more firearms.

Welch, 33, is being held without bond on multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute while armed. The PFPA said in a statement that he’s been placed on administrative leave.

There are hundreds of officers in the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, which is responsible for security at the Pentagon and several other defense-related federal buildings, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.

It wasn’t immediately known whether detectives are looking for other possible suspects or whether they believe anyone else from the PFPA was involved. City officials said the investigation is ongoing.

American driver following GPS gets stuck on stairs of Bavarian church near Army training base

We won the war. We can park wherever the fuck we want. That’s how “unconditional surrender” works!

St. Aegidius parish church has been renovated many times since the 12th century, but no one ever adorned it with an American muscle car until recently.

A 20-year-old American was driving through construction near the market square in the small Bavarian village of Vilseck on Thursday when his navigation system led him down the wrong path, Vilseck police said Wednesday. Police did not disclose the American’s identity.

The navigation guidance took the driver down the church steps, where the car got stuck, police said.

A towing company removed the car the same day. There was no damage to the stairs, and Vilseck police let the newly licensed driver off with a warning.

Pictures of the late-model Dodge Charger parked on the church’s steps soon made their way into regional newspapers after police announced the incident last week.

Those reports didn’t mention the driver’s nationality. But U.S. soldiers in the town, which hosts a portion of the largest Army training ground in Europe, came to their own conclusions.

That make and model are rarely seen at dealerships in Europe other than those on U.S. bases.

The photos soon showed up on U.S. Army WTF! Moments social media sites under the headline, “Nothing more American than parking your 17% interest dodge charger on the steps of a German Church #usausausa.”

The post attracted more than 800 mostly snarky comments, some of which thought that 17% might be a good rate for a young soldier with little or no credit.

The 2022 Charger’s sticker price of $30,940 is a few thousand dollars more than the basic annual pay of a private first class with less than three years of service.

The GPS tourista made me grin. Thanks, Mason.

Graybeard

I may have mentioned this before, but Death Valley has, as one of its options for “cause of death”, Death by GPS.

So many people have mindlessly followed their GPS to areas they should not have gone, following ‘roads’ that no longer exist, and ended up without gas or water, that they had to institute that category.

GPS (as well as other electronic devices) can make people stupid.

MCPO USN

Truth. While stationed at China Lake, I decided to go to Death Valley via Trona. The GPS took me down a road that I was barely able to travel, and was only lucky it was not the wet season. Luckily I made it but returned via the well known paved roads. After reporting this adventure on Monday, everyone laughed and said this happens often to visitors.

Remember, Google Maps, etc. (being a computer) will choose the most direct route and not the most sensible one:

Soshul media assume the Charger driven by a private? Why not a second lieutenant unarmed of map and compass? “I was only following (GPS) orders!” It was Germany.

17% interest? Used to be 29%! (“E2 and Above” financing has improved.)

I have a “criminals are dumbasses” story similar to the first one.

When I was a cop in Honolulu, a beat partner of mine mentioned to me that he saw a “frequent flyer” of ours looking in mailboxes. He couldn’t snag her for anything. He simply told her to knock it off.

Lo and behold, later that night I got a call for a check fraud case. The complainant showed me a jpeg of the check and our dumbass “frequent flyer” had filled in HER OWN NAME as the payee. Laughed my ass off! You can’t make this shit up!

jeff LPH 3 63-66

The guy car on the Church steps should have taken certain steps to avoid having his car stuck on the steps and the next step was to have his car removed from the steps one step at a time.

26Limabeans

I was gonna comment but you covered it pretty good so
I’ll just step aside.

Some more examples of the struggle to decide whether it is a FGS or a Dumb Crook/SPOTW post. May be a coin toss, may be a thump rassle. Sadly, these types of people not only vote…they reproduce.
