Two people killed, another injured in crash after fleeing from traffic stop near Hilliard
Monroe Trombly, The Columbus Dispatch
A man and a woman were killed and another woman was injured early Friday morning after fleeing from police and crashing into a light pole on Columbus’ Northwest Side. The vehicle they were in ? a lime-colored SUV ? was pulled over by a Hilliard police officer in the area of 3600 Fishinger Road, near Park Mill Run Drive, shortly before 3 a.m. for a traffic violation, Columbus Police Sgt. Joe Albert said in a statement.
Dashcam footage released Friday morning by the Hilliard Division of Police shows the SUV speed off about 20 seconds after being pulled over. The officer then begins to follow the vehicle at a distance instead of chasing it.
“The officer continued driving eastbound at a top speed of 40 mph, keeping a distance from the vehicle,” Hilliard police said in a news release.
Not a minute later the officer comes upon a downed light pole and the SUV can be seen further up the road, its emergency lights flashing. The officer quickly exited his cruiser and went over to an occupant of the crashed SUV lying in the grass median.
“Hilliard police department, can you hear me?” he said several times.

I hope the store clerk is reimbursed the one round of his Taxpayers’ Savings Shot. On second thought, reimburse the clerk for both rounds fired.
Think of all the money saved by NOT; incarcerating, trying, appeals, medical, food, as well as all the ancillary costs; prison guards, electricity, maintenance on a pile of cement……..
Who knew that two shots fired could save so much money to the taxpayers?
When the friends and family of the individual who failed at the redistribution of wealth set up their memorial of Mylar balloons, candles and Teddy Bears, will they at least have the courtesy of purchasing the items from the store he attempted to rob?
By using the second round he saved Bexar County taxpayers 10s of thousands of dollars in medical bills just be locked up, set free and offend again.
Follow and observe until you can get more units on the scene is replacing police chases. It’s a lot safer for the public, the officer and somewhat safer for the offender. It works really well when there is an air asset involved.
But you can’t fix stupid.
Like the man sez, don’t shoot till you think he’s down, shoot till HE thinks he’s down.
Time to put a ban on light poles and cars.
Shoot til the target is negated. BZ, Store Keeper!
Guess Home Boi finally saw the light…just a little too late.

*Not including disaster relief and unchecked, ‘voluntary’, illegal war spending in a dictatorial third world nation ending in R,A,I,N,E.
Laura Ingraham had a report on her show last Friday night from some financial watchdog outfit that showed the Scamdemic government spending includes about 800 billion dollars in spending on fraudulent and otherwise illegal expenditures during the past two years, including DHS employees working from home, and payments to companies owned by the Chinese Communist Party. That PPP program was one of the worst violators. Very little of that money will ever be recouped. The report also says that these illegal and or inappropriate expenditures caused about a third of the inflation we are experiencing.
