Health care confusion
While Democrats are betting the farm on health care, the media seems a bit a confused. The Associated Press finds a poll that says Americans are “more confident” about their access to health care. Buried in the story is the story is this quote; “Researchers call the increase significant. While they say they’re not sure what accounts for it, they say it might be due to expectations that Washington will improve the health care system.” It also might be due to expectations that Obama will fail to get his brand of economy-killing heath care enacted.
On the other hand, Fox News reports that “[a] new poll suggests public approval of the way President Barack Obama is handling health care reform is slipping.” That might be why Obama is taking his snake oil sales pitch to prime time again, says Reuters;
U.S. President Barack Obama will plead his case for a broad healthcare overhaul in a prime-time news conference on Wednesday, with doubts growing about the plan even among his fellow Democrats and polls showing slipping public support.
I got a sense of the desperation yesterday when the Obama team pleaded with me to help them;
I heard a clip on Fox News this morning of a conference callObama had with some netroot bloggers in which he had to admit that he’s not familiar all of the health care plan. I found the audio at HuffPo – it’s at about 17:15.
But he’s going to ram it up our collective ass anyway.

John – Long time reader, love TAH. I just have to ask why it seems like the “Messiah” is constantly campaigning. Primetime pressers, marathon primetime specials, constantly in campaign mode. Last time I checked, unfortunately, he was the President, not a candidate for president. It’s well past being laughable, it’s a disgrace. Seven months in office and an approval rating lower than Carters. Brilliant work…

Easy answer; he only knows how to campaign. Has anyone noticed any leadership? His constituency only need pretty words and soothing speeches to be reassured that he’s taking care of them. Don’t bother them with facts and numbers.
A good example is when the CBO guy told Congress that the healthcare plan will cost $1T – $1.5T and the Blue Dogs bolted. Obama thought he could change the CBO guy’s mind by talking to him. It couldn’t change the numbers, but Obama thought he could convince the CBO guy to say something different.
Jonn, Glenn Beck had an interesting bit on the Senate version of Obamacare yesterday too, while he was talking to Matt. Buried in the bill is a provision that medical schools who take federal money have to admit “under-represented” minorities before anyone. Seems this flies in the face of at least two recent SCOTUS decisions, but then, what do the Supremes know, without a wise Latina to guide them?
And, I’m sure that if the CBO estimates the cost at $1.5T, the actual cost, after earmarks an pork, will be closer to $3T.
