Return of the Wheel Gun

No charges filed in New Albany shooting

NEW ALBANY — Floyd County Prosecutor Chris Lane announced no charges will be filed in the March 31 double shooting that left one man injured and another dead.

Killed in the altercation that took place at 1820 Conservative St. in New Albany was Russell L. Smith Jr. Also shot was Mareece Harris, who survived a gunshot wound to the back.

The incident occurred at the residence of Tear Seymour.

“After a thorough investigation, we have determined there is no basis to file charges against Mr. Harris,” Lane said. “This was an act of self-defense. Mr. Harris became involved in the argument between Mr. Smith and Ms. Seymour when Mr. Smith pointed a gun at Ms. Seymour. We believe Harris was attempting to defuse the situation.”

Police determined Smith came to the home armed with a gun and began arguing with Seymour. Harris was also at the residence and told police when Smith pointed the gun at Seymour he intervened in an attempt to disarm him.

Tampa dating app meetup ends in robbery attempt and homicide
A woman has been arrested on a murder charge after deputies say she set up a meeting that ended with her brother being shot and killed.

By Mary Claire Molloy, Times staff
A Tampa woman is facing a murder charge after a person she tried to lure into a robbery through a dating app shot and killed her brother in self defense, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s officials said.

Tat’yana Mekeva Gaston, 23, was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the May 31 shooting, according to court documents. Gaston was released from the Hillsborough County jail the day of her arrest after she posted $15,000 bail, records show.

Police say Gaston matched with a person on the dating app BLK posing as a 22-year-old woman named “Jada.” She asked the person, who is not named in court records, to meet her at Kain Palms Apartments, where her brother, Jermon Kennard, 18, was waiting nearby to rob the person, the records state.

Any guesses what young Jermon used to threaten the suitor with? Today’s quote is entirely coincidental.

Wisconsin deputy kills person during traffic stop

A sheriff’s deputy in northeastern Wisconsin shot and killed a person Wednesday during a traffic stop, state Justice Department officials said.

The incident began around 2:40 p.m. when an Oconto County Sheriff’s deputy responded to multiple 911 calls about a reckless driver on Interstate 41.

The deputy found the vehicle along the side of the interstate in the town of Oconto about 10 minutes later. The deputy saw that the driver was already out of the car and appeared to be injured. While the deputy was tending to the driver a passenger in the vehicle got out out and approached the deputy with a knife, Justice Department officials said.

Thanks, Gun Bunny. That rounds out our Friday FGS Trifecta nicely.

A Trifecta of Justice served. Knives to gunfights and getting kilt by your own weapon. Teh stoopid is strong today. For those thinking there is no manipulation of news from the media, with a selfdefense action happening every 13 seconds, why do we struggle to find these stories to present everyday? Jes’ sayin’.

Sadly, young Jermon is typical of the students my Baby Girl has to deal with everyday. And yep, she is licensed and trained and CCs a Lady Smith Wheelie…every.where.she.goes. I, too, like a nice wheelie. And I dress to CC.

Claw Daddy, may we get a spin of the Ol’ Whizz Wheel here?

I’m not shocked that wheel guns are becoming popular again (I have two myself. Beautiful pistols.). But I am FLABBERGASTED that someone in California has a CCW!!! And how stupid is it that they have to declare which weapon they will carry. Sheesh! SMDH!

26Limabeans

Way back in the 70’s I had a non resident Massachusetts
CC permit. Had to be renewed every month and only good
for the named weapon.

MustangCryppie

Every MONTH? Wow!

i was being a bit hyperbolic. I guess even a nuthouse like CA can’t go against the 2nd Amendment forever!

UpNorth

When I retired from the PD, we moved to a rural county. When I applied for my CCW permit, the board granted it, good for the entire state…..except the county I lived in!
I would have had to violate the law to get to an adjoining county to carry legally!

The Michigan State Police representative on the board didn’t believe that I had been threatened by anyone I had dealt with at the PD.

LMAO!
