A suburban Chicago-area police officer shot and killed a hatchet-wielding man seen on shocking body camera footage pulling up during a traffic stop in the city of Naperville, Illinois, police said. The Naperville Police Department, in releasing a still from the bodycam footage, said an officer was conducting a traffic stop around 11 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Bond Street and McDowell Road when an unrelated vehicle pulled up next to the vehicle the officer had pulled over.
A man, described as a White male in his 20s, exited the vehicle and charged at the officer with a hatchet in his hand, police said. A still image taken from the officer’s bodycam shows the man dressed in all black clothing brandishing the weapon in his right hand as he appears to barrel toward the officer.

Hatchet to a gunfight? What we’ve got here is, failure to communicate. Some men you just can’t reach. Thanks for the link, Gun Bunny.
Homeowner screamed and fired a warning shot before ultimately killing home intruder, police report
By Natchez Democrat Staff
A Mississippi homeowner shot and killed a man breaking into a residence Friday morning, police report.Dispatchers received a 911 call just before 6 a.m. Friday morning about an unwanted person on Johnson Circle. As officers were on their way, the caller remained on the phone with 911 as the situation escalated, Adams County Sheriff TravisPatten said.
“He began to break windows around the residence and found an unlocked metal security door under the carport. He opened that door and then started trying to kick in the other door behind that. Once that door came open, the homeowner fired a warning shot first and then fired another shot which struck the suspect in the arm.

A warning shot is for the second thug.
Liberty has never come from government. Liberty has always come from the subjects of government. The history of liberty is the history of resistance. — Woodrow Wilson, May 9, 1912, Address, New York Press Club.

I need to find that meme with two children; one firing a rifle, the other with binoculars.
(Binoculars) “You were supposed to fire a warning shot”
(Rifle) “I did fire a warning shot”
(B) “But you hit the dude in the head and killed him”
(R) “And now his friends are warned”
That’s the only kind of warning shot. Anything else is a waste of ammunition.
No joy after a quick archive check, Tox. I’ll post it when I come across it again.
I found it, but it’s in an unfamiliar format (.avif?) & unable to open/upload.
Found it.
I’d go through the whole “knife-gun” classroom routine again, but some people just never learn. A waste of my time, and I have little enough of it left on this earth. Let ’em learn the hard way. Besides, it culls the herd and cleanses the gene pool.
It also makes good fodder for the FGS mill.”Don’t bring “X” to a gunfight” is a favorite meme.
Personally, I like the (possibly apocryphal) answer of Jeff Cooper to the question “If you knew were going to a gun fight, what would you carry?”
A: “If I knew I were going to a gun fight, I wouldn’t go.”
But if the fight comes to me: I want a big gun and lots of ammo and cover.
And a few like-minded and similar-armed friends at your sides and back wouldn’t hurt.
Or, to quote Ogden Nash; “When called by a panther…don’t anther…”
“I see you’re carrying your sidearm, Sheriff. Expecting trouble?”
“No, Ma’am. If I were expecting trouble I’d have a rifle.”
Hilan Florida morning shots are completely illegal.
We have had more than one conviction of persons who fired warning shots
Here in Florida
A twofer DRT and an on going food coma from the food fest. More oxygen for the rest of us, plenty of leftovers still, and life is good. Hatchetman thinking he is George Washington and the popo were cherry trees? BZ homeowner! Warning shot? phtt! A waste of cartridge. Those things are rather spendy these days.
Love or hate Wilson, you gotta admit he was a proponent of limited Federal Power and not meddling into other country’s affairs…and their constant wars. A result of him growing up during the bayonet rule of Reconstruction, maybe?
Much as I lubs me the designs of HMS JMB (HBHN) and my FNIB Kimber 1911 Model Custom LW, my preferred sidearm has always been a nice revolver. A throwback to my previous lifetime with Colonel Colt or carrying a Griswold during the Great Unpleasantness? A little of both, perhaps?
A follow-up to the incident where the Mexican Mafia felon killed a grandfather and his four grandchildren:
It is worth watching and sharing.
A handsome firearm but I do not see $3K+ worth of value. OTOH, it is not a “consumer” revolver and it you have to push high pressure rounds through it, in the interest of law enforcement, maybe so.
Seems to me that in a close environment, like the cabin of an aircraft, the venerable .45 ACP is about as good as it gets. As it were, I still think that .38 is enough to git’r’dun and keep it in the same room.
Talking about “guns” reminds me of talking about cam shafts, ignition programming, guitar strings, tubes and tube amplifiers… and toothpaste.
